Felt intimidated by person delivering my post

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 16:52

I was in the bath, when the doorbell rung. My bathroom is next to my front door. They then knocked aggressively. Went around the back, did the same thing. Then they came back around the front and started banging on the windows. I live in a small house and could hear it. This felt distressing to me especially since I didn’t know who it was. Got out the bath saw the sorry we missed you so knew it was the postie.

People also complain that that they don’t knock ENOUGH, so …

No and I’m not going to

Oh well, at least you got a nice busy MN thread out of it. Now just to decide whether it's worth buying a replacement or not?

The rest of us can wait for no. 28's thread in a week where they agonise over what to do about the uncollected parcel they took in for their neighbour who doesn't answer the door or go to the effort of picking up parcels.

"No and I’m not going to"

Why?

What a weird thing to say.Are you jealous that my thread got attention? Make your own thread then. I am afraid after the experience and Amazon can’t get their story straight as to whether it’s a scam or was their driver. I kept getting passed around associates who say they don’t leave notes and it’s a scam but they’re investigating if it was their driver, and others who say the drivers behaviour was unacceptable and they are taking action.
im not worried about a replacement more than wether or not my safety is at risk

This isn’t AIBU. I know what I experienced. No one else was there, no one on this thread was there I am disabled and they did this because they were angry that I wasn’t answering the door. It’s not ok to intimidate me.

I don't suppose Random Delivery Guy knows you're disabled, or that he was trying to intimidate you. Maybe he saw a light and thought you hadn't heard him the first time?

I should imagine that Occam would infer he (RDG) was just trying to delivery your parcel.

I don’t know what occam or RDG is?
even if they didn’t know I was disabled which is implied by the kind of house that I live in, it’s still relevant because I’m vulnerable and it’s not the same as an able bodied person in the same situation

Intimidated, frightened and you found it distressing? You need help for your anxiety!

She's disabled, she was alone. There's no need to go round aggressively knocking on people's windows just because you can't get an answer at the door.

Daypartiesandhollywood · 28/01/2025 19:38

It won’t be a scam as that’s a real Amazon delivery note so it would be a weird and pointless scam, I think the mix up with the associates is probably due to the fact it often takes a while to update, as a pp I’ve had some that say out for dlelicery even after delivery is happen

Not a millennial, gen Z.

MrsDThaskala · 28/01/2025 19:42

I agree. I would have been scared if anyone went to the back gate to deliver. I'm with you op.

Are you sure it was a postie person though? Do you have a ring doorbell?

TheBerry · 28/01/2025 19:42

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 19:39

Well I’m not finding it joyful at all so I don’t know why you are

I feel that you either need to go and collect your package from no. 28, or reorder it if you’re not willing to collect. If you’re genuinely scared about collecting your package maybe one of the other neighbours can go with you.

I don’t think you should be trying to get the postman in trouble when he didn’t do anything wrong and it might not even have been him you heard knocking (might have been your neighbour).

Omg, that's ridiculous!
I can't believe anybody would do that especially a paid delivery worker what do they get in trouble if they don't deliver or something? Never have I heard of something like that someone knocking so aggressively not just on the doors but on the windows!?
Of course it would be upsetting if you are unable to come out of the bathroom but even if you weren't in the bathroom I'd be pretty peed if somebody knocked that loud and aggressively and on the windows too, that you would think is reserved for someone telling you your house is on fire!

Able-bodied people live in bungalows too. The driver does not know you are disabled and vulnerable.

Balloonhearts · 28/01/2025 19:52

The driver probably prints his own slips out so he can let people know where their package is. Our surveyor used to get his own cards printed as the company didn't provide any.

For the love of Christ just go and knock on 28, thank them for taking it in and collect it like a normal person. This is bloody ridiculous, I've never known anyone to make such a drama out of nothing and I've worked with preschoolers.

They were banging on my windows. Delivery drivers have never done that to me before.

Well assuming you’ve read all the information I’ve posted throughout the thread then maybe you shouldn’t be working with pre schoolers or children ever if you have such a flippant view of safety

You've been told that this isn't a scam note and that your parcel is at no. 28
The driver was over enthusiastic when trying to make sure you got your parcel
He didn't know that you are disabled or that he frightened you

“I’ve been told” by people on the thread who know nothing about the incident in real life. They are assuming. Amazon themselves don’t know if it was a scam or not and either way they themselves have said that their driver shouldn’t have been banging on my windows. Nothing I have said was exaggerated and was very frightening and unnecessary. When I didn’t answer he should have left

It now says it’s been delivered and was handed to a resident. It wasn’t delivered to me that’s for certain

In that case it was legitimate and has been given to number 28.

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 20:17

I’ve been so distressed by this situation for the last few hours. It has ruined my evening.
