Felt intimidated by person delivering my post

I was in the bath, when the doorbell rung. My bathroom is next to my front door. They then knocked aggressively. Went around the back, did the same thing. Then they came back around the front and started banging on the windows. I live in a small house and could hear it. This felt distressing to me especially since I didn’t know who it was. Got out the bath saw the sorry we missed you so knew it was the postie.

Is there any reason to call someone an idiot for having a different opinion to you? And no, of course I don't think it's ok for them to open the door and this postie didn't do that.

They maybe thought the OP was in so knocked in different places in case she hadn't heard. It makes their job so much harder to have to return parcels to the depot.

Well it turns out it was a scam. And here we have all these people telling OP she is being unreasonable and that the post person was just doing their job and she should just thrown a gown on her naked body and opened the door. Bad advice like that can be dangerous. People shouldn't be undermining someone's safety response to scary behaviour.

Digdongdoo · 28/01/2025 18:25

What kind of scam OP? Sounds rather elaborate. Are you a high value target or something?

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 28/01/2025 18:26

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 18:24

I didn’t want to be specific because I have told people in real life and this doesn’t tend to happen from what I can see.
It was an Amazon delivery driver and I have just finished speaking to associates I kept getting passed around but in the end I was told that they don’t post notes through and it’s a scam.

Ironically, if you'd answered the door you'd have not had to spend time getting passed around associates and would have realised it was a scam when "they" asked you for money or personal info or whatever "they" wanted.

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 28/01/2025 18:26

Probably heard you and thought why isn't she answering the door.

They would have gone round the back to see if there was somewhere to leave your parcel.

LeavesTrees · 28/01/2025 18:27

I can see how you would feel intimidated, especially because you were in the bath so would have felt more vulnerable.
Looking at your update it’s good that you didn’t answer as it was a scam. Very unsettling that they circled your house by going around the back too.

NovemberMorn · 28/01/2025 18:25

We used to get a 'sorry we missed you' card from the electricity board when a meter was due to be read.
Was the card definitely from a postal service?

Just read the update, No, I don/t think Amazon do post cards.

Yes my house is a bungalow but I’m not elderly. Either way I’ve never experienced this before. The person listed on the note is the neighbour I have been avoiding as they are taking drugs and I have been warned by nice neighbours to stay away. That person recently approached me in my garden (came in without asking) and asked me how much something I had costed. The person isn’t my direct neighbour but at the end of my row. The note says Amazon on both sides. If this is a scam then I am really frightened.

What kind of scam? What are they scamming you out of by knocking on your door? This thread is so bizarre

Midnightlove · 28/01/2025 18:30

How does amazon know it's a scam?

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 28/01/2025 18:30

So the accused postie has nothing to do with anything.

Not relieved that you've avoided a scam, no? Frightened? I'd be pleased at a near-miss. Much better than someone getting their target.

So what's the scam then? You could play a part in raising awareness and protecting others.

I’ve never had Amazon leave a note, the ones by me knock the door and often don’t wait for an answer, just put it on the doorstep.

What do you mean your neighbours name is on the note? Could it have been something intended for them? If they are into drugs like you say maybe it was related to that?

Odd.
You could either give this neighbour a wide berth, or alternatively, you could go and ask him why he was knocking on your door, take the card with you, ...see what he has to say.
It could have been something and nothing.

You could get a video doorbell or camera with a speaker and then yell ‘I can’t come to the door, leave it there’ or whatever. Then if it’s some weirdo you have them on camera

If you are No28, It looks like Amazon had a parcel for him, he wasn't home, and they have delivered it to someone else...not you.
Neighbour was just collecting his parcel he thought had been left with you.

If HE is No28, I don't know what's going on.

Do you live next door to no. 28? Have they got your parcel? Are you expecting a parcel? Cue MN dilemma - should you wait for no. 28 to bring it round? No, go and knock on their door.
Amazon delivery drivers don't have time to hang about so they are going to repeatedly and loudly knock if they think someone is on. It isn't trying to intimidate, they are just in a hurry.

Midnightlove · 28/01/2025 18:46

Strange.. not sure why anyone would be knocking on your door to scam you though

Daypartiesandhollywood · 28/01/2025 18:47

I'd go ask number 28? That's a legitimate amazon leaflet, its not great that he was banging on the windows, but it seems like it was just to deliver a parcel and perhaps that hasn't updated on the chat associates end
