Felt intimidated by person delivering my post

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 16:52

I was in the bath, when the doorbell rung. My bathroom is next to my front door. They then knocked aggressively. Went around the back, did the same thing. Then they came back around the front and started banging on the windows. I live in a small house and could hear it. This felt distressing to me especially since I didn’t know who it was. Got out the bath saw the sorry we missed you so knew it was the postie.

Just go to 28 and request your parcel.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 28/01/2025 18:50

More like 'mistaken address' than scam, surely? I mean, what's the bottom line - how are they going to get anything out of you this way? Perhaps Amazon are using the word 'scam' wrongly....

Digdongdoo · 28/01/2025 18:50

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 18:43

The website says my parcel is out for delivery and expected at about 9pm

So why do you think it's a scam? It's from amazon, and you're expecting an amazon delivery. Your neighbour has your parcel. Go and get it.

LadyTable · 28/01/2025 18:50

Bloody hell OP you'd shit a litter of kittens if you could hear the way the Amazon deliverer knocks on my door.

It's like a police raid! 😁👮‍♂️

I'm grateful for it though as I hate missing parcels.

He wasn't to know you wouldn't be.

Are you a millennial? They're frightened of their own shadows!

Oh yeah, all 15 million of them. Do you always go round spouting such pathetic stereotypes?

NovemberMorn · 28/01/2025 18:51

I don't think the person banging wanted to deliver your parcel, as said, yours is still out for delivery.

I think it was the neighbour wanting to collect his parcel, thinking it had been delivered to you.

Either way, I don't think it was a scam, just a mix up.

Rosesgrowonyou · 28/01/2025 18:51

Why didn't you shout out of the window?

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 28/01/2025 18:55

You are lucky your postie tries so hard to deliver your parcels.

Next time don't drip feed by adding that you are disabled in a later reply.

I’m disabled but I’m not deaf

And take no notice of the 'out for delivery' not being updated.

My last parcel was still 'out for delivery' hours after it arrived, and it's now 'missing' despite the fact it's sitting on my dining table.

Flopsythebunny · 28/01/2025 19:00

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 18:35

This is the note that was left

That's a genuine amazon missed delivery note

Brilliant - request a refund!

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 19:09

It now says it’s been delivered and was handed to a resident. It wasn’t delivered to me that’s for certain

Have you asked number 28?

Because it's at number 28. Like the card says.

This isn’t AIBU. I know what I experienced. No one else was there, no one on this thread was there I am disabled and they did this because they were angry that I wasn’t answering the door. It’s not ok to intimidate me.

I think you’re overthinking. They knock loudly (they do this to everyone btw, you haven’t been singled out) because they don’t want to lug your parcel back to the sorting office and then have to redeliver it at a future date. So if there’s a chance that there’s someone home but haven’t heard the door because they’re drying their hair/listening to music/whatever there’s a better chance of being heard if they knock loudly.

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 28/01/2025 19:14

Why didn't you mention the card before, OP?

Daypartiesandhollywood · 28/01/2025 19:15

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 19:12

No and I’m not going to

Okay, that’s probably where your parcel is though.
maybe a ring or eufy doorbell might be handy in future as then you don’t have to answer but you can say where to leave it

NovemberMorn · 28/01/2025 19:16

Your parcel was probably delivered to No 28 (is he the druggy neighbour?) and he was trying to re-deliver it to you....and it was him that was banging loudly.

Does that make sense?

FindusMakesPancakes · 28/01/2025 19:18

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 19:12

No and I’m not going to

Why not? Do you expect the neighbour to bring it to you? Unless your disability prevents you, you are just being entitled and weird.

You will be back here next week complaining that your neighbour hasn't delivered to you.

OP just because you felt intimidated doesn’t mean the postie was intimidating. He knocked on the door. He didn’t try to enter or kick the door down.

I’m sorry about your disability but how would the postie know this and even if he did he wasn’t targeting you because of it so it has absolutely no relevance.

It made you jump and scared you a bit. Please don’t exaggerate with hyperbole that he intimidated you.

seaweedhead · Today 17:45

Going against the grain but I can totally understand why this would unsettle you. It's completely over the top.

Yes, it is. Feeling vulnerable in your own home would be frightening for most people.
I’m able bodied and not backward at coming forward but its temporarily freaked me out on the couple of occasions when a delivery driver has banged on our back door (climbing over a high side gate to do so).

Perhaps step back a bit and consider OP’s personal circumstances before being so dismissive.

you mean like millennials do when it comes to ‘boomers’?
