What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

I feckin hate those pink wafer biscuits which used to be in biscuit tins when I was a kid. They are literally like eating dandruff sandwiches🤮

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 19/01/2025 21:59

Agree with you OP - Nice biscuits weee what came to my mind when I saw the thread title.

I quite like rich teas, but they need to be the fingers. Malted milks are OK too, but Nice biscuits have an odd stale taste to them. Or maybe that's just because they are always the last ones left in the tin.

AInightingale · 19/01/2025 22:03

What are Empire biscuits? Are they the biscuit previously known as a German biscuit? Because well-made, ie very short, they are ace. They can taste damp and limp tho.

What do you mean making a biscuit very short?

I love a lot of the hated biscuits; fig rolls, rich tea, garibaldi etc

I really dislike the crappy rectangle shortbread ones and Nice biscuits

AInightingale · 19/01/2025 22:09

Short - just very light and crumbly with a good bite? As opposed to having a sort of heavy, soggy texture.

Coldanddamp · 19/01/2025 22:10

Rich tea dipped in tea are delicious!

Nice biscuits are 🤮 Digestives are cardboard.

Don't mind garibaldi & like fog rolls. Chocolate malted milks are yum.

Two shortbread biscuits sandwiched together, one iced, jam in middle and a wee jelly sweet in the centre of iced one.

endlesscraziness · 19/01/2025 22:11

@CeceliaImrie Malted milk dip binge Smilei I've definitely demolished a whole packet on more than one occasion doing that

Coldanddamp · 19/01/2025 22:11

Hate Hobnobs - dry as hell

forgot about these as never buy them but they are sawdust.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 19/01/2025 22:19

Who are all these nutters nominating bourbons, hobnobs and custard creams as the worst, they’re lovely. And mmmm to fig rolls and chocolate digestives too.

I’m in favour of all the biscuits generally and am I think there might be a few psychopaths commenting in this thread. Except maybe for rich tea.

RabbitsRock · 19/01/2025 22:19

So wish you could still get chocolate rich teas! Soooo good!

RabbitsRock · 19/01/2025 22:20

Feel I must post in defence of custard creams! And bourbons!

RabbitsRock · 19/01/2025 22:35

And even lemon bastard puffs! 🤣🤣🤣

omega4ever · 19/01/2025 22:38

Worst by far is the custard cream.
I would rather starve than eat it.

MrsJHernandez · 19/01/2025 22:38

Rich Tea. Dry. Boring. Depressing.

Although after reading others, I agree pink wafers and lemon puffs suck balls too.

Not a huge fan of biscuits anyway, I'd rather have cake 🍰 or a donut 🍩

noblegiraffe · 19/01/2025 22:40

Bourbons and custard creams aren't the most exciting of biscuits but they are perfectly tasty. Like a solid, work meeting biscuit.

Rich tea, bloody boring biscuits…. Not partial for a digestive either unless it’s a chocolate one.

Dutchhouse14 · 19/01/2025 22:41

Rich tea - just can't see the point of them!

Pink wafer biscuits
Garibaldi
I don't like either of these but can at least see why others (with no taste!) might
Also not fond of those fake shortbread-shortcake? -sugary biscuits.
Or those tins of Danish biscuits

BooksAndHooks · 19/01/2025 22:42

Sorry Garibaldi is one of the few biscuits I would eat, could eat the whole pack.

Rich tea have got to be the worst.

Dogsbreath7 · 19/01/2025 22:55

NewNameFor2025 · 18/01/2025 13:06

Rich Tea. Bland and dry.

That’s because you eat them with a cup of tea and ideally dunked.

BackAgainSlimLady · 19/01/2025 23:01

rich tea is my favourite biscuit!

my most hated is the hob nobs. I bloody hate the texture of those oats getting stuck in your teeth so you can close your teeth together properly until you dig it out. They also give me jaw ache because they require so much fecking work to eat!

Party Rings never live up to their colourful promise.

That's very true, always slightly disappointing

MoonWoman69 · 19/01/2025 23:28

Best Buy Nice biscuits are nice and robust, take a good dunk and are nicely coconutty! They sell them at our local shop and was surprised they're so solid, from how I remember them years ago! I've nearly eaten the whole packet... All in the name of research, you understand! 😋
