Friend took the last jacket potato ...would you be annoyed ?

We went to a cafe yesterday
We got there at 2pm and as we walked in they said all they had left was jacket potato or prawn sandwiches /ham and egg pie
I said to my friend I will get the jacket potato as I don't like any of the other choices.
My friend she was getting the ham and egg pie.
She was stood in front
Then she said actually il get a potato instead
We got to the front and I said "can we get two jacket potatoes please"
The lady said they only had 1 left and my friend pipe up "oh il take that please with Tuna" what you going to get ?
I double check what they have and say again I don't like anything else so il just get a tea.

Then she sat there and smirked "oh can't believe they only had 1 left "

Wouldn't you have just had something else ? She liked pie
I would of just to be kind

They were both told at the point of ordering - why is OP more entitled to the potato than her friend? Because she's fussier?

To me, it seems like you should have spoken up more or been more direct. I know you said you mentioned not liking anything else on the menu but it is for you to say "Sorry can we go somewhere else as I am hungry and don't like anything on the menu or did you want to get the pie and I'll have the jacket". Perhaps she didn't know how serious you were or hungry you were. Maybe if she knew you'd be really sad and go and post on mumsnet, she would have let you have the potato. If it has upset you this much then I think you owe it to your friend to tell them and allow them the chance to apologise. Sorry you're upset.

Anything is mouth scalding if you shove it while it's still too hot. It's not the potatoes issue if you do that..

Even if it wasn't why would you not have a conversation with your friend to ensure you both got food? If you both only wanted the potato.you could have jointly agreed.to.go elsewhere

I actually am having awful cravings for a baked potato now. They can be so good when home made. Hardly ever order them out though as they are usually awful.

Exactly, OP should have initiated a conversation - it's never great to only be able to have one item on the menu, and be stuck if someone else selects that. They should have went somewhere with more suitable options.

I don't 'shove it in' but imho a baked tattie is either scalding or too cold. Just not a fan. Each to their own. Much prefer a HM roastie or mash.

Fussiness does my head in, but if it was a friend who I otherwise liked, and there were other things I'd happily have for lunch (like in this scenario), I'd not think twice about sticking to my original plan and leaving the potato for her.

I would have suggested we go somewhere else that had more choice.
