Gosh @itssnowinginhere you sound ever so jealous. 😆Sounds like she is living her best life and having a great time in her life! Why not? You're a long time dead!

Is there a reason YOU can't do the same? (Clearly you want to, as you're so bitter that she is doing it!)

And so what if she rents? Big deal. Owning a property is overrated anyway! More trouble than its worth half the time.

And she has NO CHILDREN?! 😱 What an utter witch. How dare she? That's what women are made for - to procreate. Shame on her for not becoming a brood mare! 🐴

LollipopViolet · 05/01/2025 12:04

I'd say it's a big case of "none of your business OP". Not excessive in my opinion.

I do one main holiday with a friend each year, but then lots of weekends/1-3 night breaks in the UK because of a hobby.

I can afford this and have no children so why shouldn't I?

Life is for living and as someone who'd be sticking a pin in the map and travelling constantly if I didn't need to work, I say see the world as much as you can.

Or perhaps they're perfectly content and like to see places and people as part of that contentment?

@Itsanewyearnewstart

personally I find it weird that people can feel contented just staying in one place their whole lives. Do you not get bored and wanna see what’s out there??

AelinAG · 05/01/2025 12:07

You’re jealous and it’s not a good look

OTannenbaumOTannenbaum · 05/01/2025 12:07

My friend's sister has terminal cancer. We're all in our 30s. My friend has been travelling to a new city every month with her boyfriend as it's made her realise life is too short.
As long as it's not hurting anyone else, everyone should do what they need to to enjoy this life. For some, it's travelling and weekend breaks

Pumpkinpie1 · 05/01/2025 12:08

Her life her choice.
We don’t know how long we have on this earth and she’s living her life as she wants .
Don’t judge x

jay55 · 05/01/2025 12:08

Making up for lost time. Taking care of her mental health. Having lots to look forward to. Sounds pretty great to me.

The USSR isn't a great example to use for that particular point either.

It covered one sixth of the world's land, split into what's now 15 countries and covered dozens of nationalities. The diversity contained within Soviet borders was unparalleled. Of course you can see a looooot of things if you draw a ring around 1/6th of the world's land!

@Hwi

soz, you can read stuff about the world in books all you want but it absolutely doesn’t compare to actually seeing the world. That woman you refer to wasn’t particularly cultured. Hth.

But it is hurting others

If you had said everything without that comment I would have been fine - but that denial is killing us all, our children especially

ColourBlueColourPurple · 05/01/2025 12:16

Sounds great!

Growlybear83 · 05/01/2025 12:17

@midgetastic How is otannenbaum's sister's travels hurting anyone?

TwattyMcFuckFace · 05/01/2025 12:17

itssnowinginhere · 05/01/2025 09:48

She is 33 no kids
Up until 3 years ago we both cared for our late mum as a full time thing
So I get she probably wants to live a bit as we had no life for 10 years but like I say to me she should be saving.
She doesn't own a house,they only rent

You're so funny OP! 🤣🤣

lightsandtunnels · 05/01/2025 12:17

This post made me laugh!

You can never have too many holidays. Good on her I say, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think!

@midgetastic

so YOU stay home or go to a caravan in Skegness or whatever to save the environment. You do that. But you don’t get to tell others what to do, especially a woman who is making up for lost time after years spent in a caregiver role.

Cakeandcardio · 05/01/2025 12:21

itssnowinginhere · 05/01/2025 08:38

It's my sister
Ever since she met her partner (2 years ago ) she's away all the time
Including meals out /cocktails etc
I just think she could be using her money more sensible ,instead of holidays etc

I can't think of a better use of money. It might not always be the way for her and good memories are what see us through difficult times. She might have children in the near future and life will be very different for her.

Crikeyalmighty · 05/01/2025 12:22

Maybe OP they are ok with renting- their life, their choices and in a downward market in many areas maybe they would rather spend on other things than renovations and stamp duty etc

Notimeforaname · 05/01/2025 12:22

but like I say to me she should be saving.
She doesn't own a house,they only rent

Isnt she lucky to have a sister like you looking down your nose at her 🙄

You actually just sound jealous.
I go on almost as many holidays and weekends away, I only rent.

Oh no... What a dark, horrible life I must have. 😂 If only I could be more like you op, my life would have proper meaning!!!

Cakeandcardio · 05/01/2025 12:22

My aunt also lives her life like this and is maybe even more 'extravagant'. It's what she likes to do and she lives in a modest house etc

BoobyDazzler · 05/01/2025 12:24

Sounds reasonable to me.

All credit to you both for caring for your mum over 10 years. She's cut loose and is making up for lost time so cut her some slack.

Shrouds don't have pockets.

JetskiSkyJumper · 05/01/2025 12:24

Not everyone wants to own a house and there's nothing wrong with that.

Superfrog3 · 05/01/2025 12:28

Can't wait till my kids are older so I can live like this, instead of a weekend away costing best part of a grand! She can do what she wants with her money, as long as they're paying for it and not stealing from others I see no problem.

MattBerningerstrophywife · 05/01/2025 12:33

Hahahah… jealous much?
if she can afford it, then why not?
its not how I want to spend my money (I prefer spending it on home stuff as i hate flying) but, no opinion on anyone else

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 05/01/2025 12:33

Oh where did they eat in York? I'm always on the lookout for somewhere new to try

cherryontoppp · 05/01/2025 12:33

you sound bitter
