Bought beautiful new bedsheets. Reduced in the sale, gorgeous colours with toadstools on them, felt ok in the shop.
Got them home, washed them and they have gone shiny 🤬 like the kind of static shiny so that your duvet ends up in a weird shape and you're rolled up like a stuck sweating pig.

Am absolutely gutted (and furious 😠) and hoping a trip to Homesense will cure me of my wierd shiny-bedsheet-hate.

M&S mini Yorkshire puddings from their party food section.

Came in a plastic tray with individual "cups" for the Yorkshires.

Instructions clearly stated to cook in the tray (I checked)

The tray melted onto my large oven tray that came with my month old oven and DH spent a good hour on Boxing Day scraping off the plastic.

Was that these? 24 Mini Beef-filled Yorkshire Puddings | M&S

It says there "A tray", ie a baking tray.

Crispy bite-size Yorkshire puddings filled with tender roast beef and finished with a Horseradish Crème Fraiche Dressing.

Clinique Black Honey lipstick. Long coveted and - for me - expensive. I was really looking forward to trying it out but what a disappointment! It sticks to any dry skin on the lips (I didn’t even realise I had any!) making lips look flaky, and the final look is very much ‘red wine’ lips. Yuck. Literally the worst lipstick I’ve ever used.

Clinique lipsticks are the only lipsticks I use as they’re the only ones that don’t stick to my very dry lips, or make them dry and sore. However, the Black Honey is totally the opposite - worst lipstick I’ve ever had!! Also makes you look like a child who’s put in Mum’s lipstick as well, dreadful colour tone!

Ring doorbell. Wouldn’t stay connected to Wi-Fi and was constantly having to reconfigure. Connection to Alexa was so patchy as to be useless and the battery life was short. Sent it back, bought a Blink doorbell and it’s so much better.

Cocktails in a tin from Tesco. Really sweet and couldn't taste the alcohol. I had previously bought Pina Coladas from M&S which were lovely but Tesco ones were not

How hard is it to boil an egg in a pan?

🤷‍♀️ dunno. I have ADHD so find the egg boiler very handy as I have a tendency to walk away from things, forget they exist and then they burn ect. My egg boiler screams like a smoke alarm when it's done 😅

Projector wont link to pixel phone without a special connector/port thing. Even if it does connect, apparently Netflix and the like block screen sharing on them anyway so you'd need another connector thing and a few different types of wire. Bloody pointless.

We bought a firestick to use with ours. Same issue with the pixel. Firestick works well though!

I bought these. Instructions stated to remove all packaging and place the puddings on a pre heated baking tray in the centre of the oven. The tray thing they came in went in the bin.

Do you put them straight in cold water to stop them from cooking further ? I have cheap aldi egg cooker and had for about 10 years and it works perfect.

Lakeland candle company wax melts advent calendar and an expensive candle. Literally no scent from any of them. I love a candle and I had high hopes (and I was looking forward to a new scent every day in December). Very dissatisfying.

Why don't you set an alarm/timer on your phone?

If it's the little square one, I think it's designed for the sandwich thins rather than normal bread?

I've got one for the sandwich thins...terrible purchase - I actually managed to pop one of my ribs using it! To be fair, I'm accident prone

Coconutter24 · 03/01/2025 08:01

One of those chill factor slushy cups. Absolutely useless and doesn’t make slush!

OkayLetMeKnowHowItGoes · 03/01/2025 08:01

I borrowed a Dyson Airwrap from my sister/her friend.

Worked great to begin with, but they aren’t the most resilient. Spilled a tiny bit of wine on them and now they are just a glorified paperweight.

Why don't you set an alarm/timer on your phone?

My DH has ADHD thing about timers is he will look at it turn it off think I need to go and do that now ... and then forget or get distracted, literally in the space of seconds. When the eggs hit the ceiling because they've boiled dry he will still say what the fuck was that?

TaggieO · 03/01/2025 08:03

@FruitPolos pretty sure they say to cook on A tray, not THE tray - we had these.

Why don't you set an alarm/timer on your phone?

As an egg-boiler fan, the beauty is you can stick them in and disappear off, whereas in a pan you need to time from when the water starts boiling. So for breakfast I stick in the eggs, go upstairs and get dressed etc, then come when I hear the alarm.

i use the Andrew James one for people who are having trouble with not getting them soft-boiled. So far all good!

Vinvertebrate · 03/01/2025 08:04

Last year I bought DS a swimming squid bath toy from Hamleys. Sounded like a pound shop vibrator and the batteries basically exploded when I took the cover off to investigate. Got a refund, but no acknowledgement of the fact that it was a quite flipping dangerous “toy”.

Is it possible to have a link, I'm looking for something like this!

It’s this one (the link was enormous), hopefully you can find it from this🙂

Why don't you set an alarm/timer on your phone?

Cause I'll turn the alarm off when it goes off and if I dont go and see to whatever the alarm was for straight away, I forget I even had an alarm in the first place 😅

The egg timer screeching is so awful I HAVE to go and turn it off

I have the Andrew James one, how much water do you put in for soft boiled? & how many minutes would you say it took to get soft boiled?

Stickthatupyourdojo · 03/01/2025 08:09

ASOS sale. I ordered a few bits around one top I particularly wanted. Took ages to get here (fine) but they decided the top I really wanted was now out of stock now so refunded me. The off white top I ordered was lemon which looks awful on me, the satin dress that I thought looked really stylish in the photos looked like a hair dressing cape and the sling backs that fit my feet fine have straps that don't even touch my ankles but stick out into nothingness at the back. I kept the reduced to £6 summery top that looks great from the front but sticks out and looks huge from the side. I'll just walk like a crab everywhere in spring.

TunipTheVegimal24 · 03/01/2025 08:09

Vegetable spiraliser. What was I thinking?

FlamingoQueen · 03/01/2025 08:11

M&S panattone. Came in a decent size box, but in reality only filled up half the box and had a horrible taste! Every year we say we are not buying M&S treats again, but we still get sucked in. Not any more!

LittleMosIron · 03/01/2025 08:11

Aldi juicer. I had a juicer years ago but forgot it takes a bag and a half of oranges for one cup, and the Aldi one is particularly shite.

It's going straight to the charity shop this morning and my 'no buying anything other than food and fuel' starts again today. Lost my 2 day streak over that hunk of crap.
