Watched 'Romy and Michele's High School Reunion' last night with DCs and the dance scene still absolutely cracks me up.
Reminds me of what the posters on the MN Strictly threads call contempo waft 😆

Which film or TV scenes do it for you?
Links welcome!

The naked gun scene where they manage to throw the villian out of a sky scraper window. He lands on the awning on the ground floor and bounces a few times, then gently lands on his feet. He smiles, straightens his tie and is immediately mauled by a lion. I haven't seen it in years but even thinking about it makes me laugh.

Bridesmaids where they have diarrhea at the same time. Actually most of Bridesmaids!
IT Crowd new 999 number.
Father Ted knocking the dent out of the car.

Sux2buthen · 02/01/2025 23:15

Father ted when they're lost in a lingerie department

Home Alone - Marv screaming when he sees the tarantula on his chest has me howling every time.

Does anyone remember Star Stories? That cracks me up - the scene in the Take That one where Gary and Robbie fight over a pie then Howard is howling like a dog.

Also-

  • Peep Show "Brown toast is the main white is the dessert" "The problem with people is they voted for the Nazis and like Coldplay."
  • Gavin & Stacey - "Do you want a corn on the cob"
  • Team America - every time Matt Damon says his name!

We rewatched a number of the Star Stories episodes only last week as we were discussing how laugh out loud funny they were, having watched the sadly dire Outnumbered on Boxing Day.

Loved The Beckhams episode and of course the Take That/Robbie one.

Any Father Ted ‘What do you say to nice cup of tea, Father? …’

And any Gavin and Stacey too.

Lots of scenes from Bottom. Rik Mayall was a slapstick genius and his facial expressions always cracked me up.

Friday Night Dinner - particularly Jim. Particularly 'phantom' and 'weevils'.

Like a previous poster the episode of The Office US with the fire alarm. The whole episode is brilliant!
Also:
Parks & Rec when they're on the ice for Leslie's speech, falling everywhere carrying a 3 legged dog & the music is "get on your feet". The episode with Bye Bye lil Sebastian is also a corker.
The Tabula Rasa episode of Buffy where they lose their memories is my favourite. Buffy being Joan thee vampire slayer & Spike thinking he's Giles son!
Modern family pilot episode with the circle of life.
Pretty much every episode of life in pieces, parks & rec, the Office US & Modern Family have a laugh out load moment for me!!

Omg I had forgotten about the Get On your Feet scene. Yes, that was hilarious..must watch it again!

For me its Always Sunny in Philadelphia...the episode of Charlie's musical The Nightman Cometh. Ridiculous and chaotic, I love it.

Many scenes from the early series of New Tricks, like when Gerry was trying on glasses and Sandra was giving him shit.

The moment in Worst Jobs in History when Tony Robinson was gagging from the stench of the stale urine he had to stamp up and down in to full wool cloth.

BebbanburgIsMine · 03/01/2025 04:19

Everything in Still Game!

My favourites are, "He who hingeth aboot getteth hee haw"

"Filtered

BebbanburgIsMine · 03/01/2025 04:28

Posted by mistake!

"Filtered through the heather!"

"Jaaaack, whaur hiv ye been, Ah've bin deid since last Thursday, yoooo kilt me, whaur's ma broon loaf!?"

You will buy alcohol at a responsible 'oor, no at two minutes past 10, now get oot ma shop, ye alki bastard!"

"Ah wis affa sorry tae hear o yer passing, but your place is in the spirit world, ye cannae wander aboot amongst the livin, you must go fae this place"

Oh so many, Still Game will never not be funny!

In The Last Kingdom

Sihtric "Thankyou Lord, we will name our first son Uhtred"

Uhtred "No you will not!!"

Sihtric "No we will not!!"

BebbanburgIsMine · 03/01/2025 04:30

The food poisoning scene in Bridesmaids. I don’t normally like gross-out humour, but their reactions are hilarious.

The funeral scene in the IT Crowd, when Roy’s phone goes off and he thinks he’s dying.

Homer’s skateboard accident in The Simpsons. When the ambulance sets off and hits a rock.

This Country, when Kurtan gets a job with Kerry’s dad. There’s a scene where he’s trying to get a full wheelbarrow up a ramp that is a genius piece of physical comedy.

LunaNorth · 03/01/2025 04:59

The blacked-out sex scene in I’m Alan Partridge,
where he’s trying to prolong proceedings by talking about the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre.

“I'll be honest, I'm dead against it. I mean, people forget that traders need access to DIXONS! They do say it'll help people in *wheeeelchairs”

😂😂😂

MerryTraveller · 03/01/2025 05:13

Danny vaulting the fences in Hot Fuzz. Every time.

Latenightreader · 03/01/2025 06:10

Most of the film Date Night, but particularly when Tina Fey is pretending to be a dancer to get into a club 'I don't even have gum', and the dance the two of them do for the mayor.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2025 06:13

Any scene with Gruber or Herr Flick of ze gestapo. The accents are hilarious. Love the scene with Dr Johnson in Blackadder where he's showing his dictionary to the Prince regent.

MainStreetOrHighStreet · 03/01/2025 06:32

The sequence in 30 Rock where Alex Baldwin's character wants to be in the show but is a terrible actor.

There are a few that we want over and over again and never fail to laugh throughout..

Minder on the Orient Express
One Foot in the Algarve
The Only Fool and Horses where Rodney wins a child competition holiday.

Nothing beats them.

Best has to be the donkey pissing in the bath in One Foot in the Algarve.

Edited

My OH was watching that episode (again) last week whilst I was cooking tea. I was in stitches- completely forgot about the ‘groovy gang’!

HelpMeGetThrough · 03/01/2025 07:25

The Carry On film "Carry On Again Doctor". Dr Nooky (Jim Dale) flying down the hospital stairs on a trolley.

It always has me laughing. I did read years ago he actually did it as well.

This made me chuckle- my German grandmother LOVES the Faulty Towers episode The Germans 😂

Notgoodatpoetrybutgreatatlit · 03/01/2025 07:47

Two Ronnie's 4 candles sketch. I think it should be taught in schools so young people know why old people say fork handles to each other and laugh.

Ohyeahwaitaminute · 03/01/2025 07:49

Not read the whole thread but can I add on any of the original Pink Panther films? I fell off the sofa laughing.

Notgoodatpoetrybutgreatatlit · 03/01/2025 07:51

There is a scene in Spy the Melissa Mcarthy film that kills my partner every time. I quite like it but she will literally watch the whole film again to see it. Its when Rose Byrne, who has Hattie Jacques levels of comic timing, is holding Melissa captive. Melissa asks her why she is dressed as a slutty dolphin trainer. It I funny and it looks as if Rose Byrne is struggling not to laugh.

GirlOfThe70s · 03/01/2025 08:23

@Baconking - me too, never fails to make me laugh. There's a similar scene in a very funny film called S.O,B starring Julie Andrews of all people. The Money Pit is one of my favourites.
