Is it likely that I have this thing in my house?

Maybe. We do.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 14:38

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 10:04

Ah, my Q3 was poorly phrased. Is the vegetable matter the widely available foodstuff the animal produces?

I don't understand Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 14:38

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 10:05

Does the animal spend the majority of its time in water (Yes) or on land (No)?

No, I think that's 5

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 14:39

Not an animal that poos out an edible thing Grin

7

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 14:39

6 sorry.

HarpQuartet · 01/01/2025 16:15

Just going to do a recap:

It's animal and vegetable
Smaller than the average adult human
Doesn't fly
The animal produces a readily available foodstuff
It's possible I have the object in my house
The animal spends most of its time on land
It doesn't poo out an edible thing

HarpQuartet · 01/01/2025 16:15

Is the animal a cow?

The animal part of this thing is not a cow.

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 17:05

Any clues? I am stumped that it is both an animal and vegetable yet it produces nothing of edible value.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 17:39

OK clue.

It is something edible, as a whole thing.

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 17:48

Is it Beef Wellington?

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 17:49

No 8

But right track.

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 17:54

Digressing a bit, but I have never had Beef Wellington.

I'd love to try it! Gordon made me want one.

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 18:30

I think Gordon might be a clue.

General Gordon is the only one I know other than Flash Gordon. Brian Blessed played he. I like Brian, but I preferred him in the kitchen floor products adverts. I think he shone more. He sparkled even. General Gordon I recall was something to do with Khartoum. I suppose there was a moron called Gordon, but I know not much about him.

Or there is Gordon Bleu, which is a form of cooking. I think. Hmm....

There is Gordon Ramsay. Now he might make a good Beef Wellington. He has high standards. That's why he never stood for Parliament. He did a Beef Wellington with scallops I remember. I have had scallops, quite a few times. Never sure what to do with the orangey bit though.

I have had scollops, but they are not the same.

So, if Gordon is a clue then I am thinking along the lines of Gordon Ramsay. But 'if' is a powerful word.

'If' is a poem by Rudyard Kipling. Now he bakes cakes. Now I am wondering if this animal and vegetable thing is something to do with cakes. Now Mr Kipling baked cakes, but he wasn't the same Mr Kipling as Rudyard who spent time in India. They have tigers in India. I like tigers. They like me as well because I dream of them sometimes and in one dream they helped me decorate my new home and afterwards lay in the sun in my garden which looks out onto an enormous wheat field. I remember that dream, it was hot and we worried about drought and fires and whether the farmer would lose his crop. It was late July 2022, when the temperature was 40 degrees here. The tiger in my dream ran round the field so fast he created a vortex of wind to drive out the heat and cool the crops down. The next day the high pressure moved away and eventually the farmer was able to harvest his crops. It was a bumper year of wheat and it went to the mill in perfect condition.

Tiger Bread. It's Tiger Bread isn't it?

rosemole · 01/01/2025 18:35

So it's a meal of some description?

It is. Does that count as a question? I feel like it doesn't.

And Gordon isn't a clue!!!

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 18:40

@rosemole yes, that is a question but it is a question of degrees. (Sorry - just for tonight I make up the rules - light-hearted).

Therefore it is question number 8.5. Not 9.

Who is Gordon? Is it your husband? Or favourite gin?

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 18:43

Gordon Ramsey, reference to Beef Wellington rather than a clue. Sorry!

8.5 it is.

Miepmiep · 01/01/2025 18:47

Oooh, can I play!

Is the animal part chicken/egg?

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 18:50

No chicken.

9.5

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 18:50

Or egg, sorry.

Vignoble · 01/01/2025 18:54

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2025 18:50

No chicken.

9.5

You can't do that! You should have issued @Miepmiep with an advance notice of the rule change back to 1.0 increments. You can't do it retrospectively, so I think it is only fair that we now at 9.0 and only because this is going to be a very hard 'out of the box' one
