I don’t think Sainsburys stock minnows but they do stock the tasty cousin of this fish.

I'm afraid I regretfully give up with this. The only other fish I came across that might fit the criteria is the fat snook. But that's it!

Billy the Bass

It was… the large mouthed bass. The actual fish, not Bigmouth Billy the Bass, who is more of a baritone than a bass.

Oh!!! I didn't get the name connection part - I was thinking first names.

I may have confused you, as there were 2 different human name clues, one for Billy and one for “bass”.

The human name that is pronounced like bass the fish but spelled differently is Bas. But then I realised Bas as a diminutive for Sebastian isn’t very common in the UK 🙄 hence my addition that you might not be familiar with it unless your name is Miep. They are both Dutch diminutives. Sorry. My bad!
