... and none of your expected guests would be coming but you also weren't able to travel to anywhere you were expecting to go:

How long would the people currently in your house be able to survive with the supplies you currently have in the house?

I reckon we have enough cheese to last a fair while at least!

bigkidatheart · 23/12/2024 13:12

5 of us, what's currently in would last us approximately 30 mins! And there is nowhere near enough alcohol in the house for me to cope with another lockdown lol

(I am food shopping tonight)

CoubousAndTourmalet · 23/12/2024 13:13

Fruit and veg probably two weeks max, but if we lived off non-perishables like pasta and tinned tomatoes and used powdered milk for drinks, we could probably last about 3 months.

BCBird · 23/12/2024 13:14

Live alone. Plenty of supplies. I would not comply. I followed everything to the letter and ending up.nearly losing my.mind

RedRiverShore5 · 23/12/2024 13:15

A good month or maybe two, and that is before the Christmas Waitrose delivery tomorrow, there are only two of us so it's quite easy to have a bit of a stockpile and we don't use as much as a family

BitOutOfPractice · 23/12/2024 13:18

There’s eggs in advocat right? So sling with the cheese and chocolate that’s dairy covered…

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 23/12/2024 13:19

We’ll be fine for at least three weeks.

My back up plan is to barter some of my red wine for neighbour’s onions. I know they have some because they have an allotment. The exchange will happen over the fence, under cover of darkness, in best lockdown manner.

@MostHighlyFlavoredGravy i love your username. Are you in a choir perhaps? My child is and that's their favourite naughty variation of a line.

From a family of musicians, yes! I'm glad someone got the reference! Xmas Smile It's a recent name change - was a toss-up between that and "The Shepherds Go To The Manager"

PokerFriedDips · 23/12/2024 13:19

Sorry about the fun-sponges everyone.

I reckon we only have 6 days worth of Stollen if we limit ourselves to one piece of stollen each per day, as I was relying on sister bringing her homemade stollen on Boxing Day, but we do have a fair bit of everything else. Do you think it would be reasonable to hide the stollen in my room so as to make it last for 24 days just for me?

I was thinking more of a zombie-apocalypse type lockdown where you will definitely die if you leave the house and there will definitely be no further supermarket deliveries, rather than a covid-style lockdown. Should have been more specific.

Enough food (to feed an army) but DS is halfway here about 200 miles away 😢 😢 😢

12purplepencils · 23/12/2024 13:22

I’ve be shafted, only got 3 spare toilet rolls

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2024 13:23

Fucking ages 😂 would involve some creativity and I’d miss fresh fruit, we’d run out of milk but I don’t drink it so that wouldn’t affect me.
We’ve got everyone round to us for Christmas so we have food for 20+ people to have an absolute feast and another 14 coming tonight so we’d have so much leftover curry stuff from this evening that we could freeze to keep us going longer. Plus ever since the actual lockdowns we now buy a job lot of fresh yeast (which we freeze in their cubes and take one out as and when needed and last perfectly) and 25kg sacks of flour every few months so we’d have bread for ages too.

RedRiverShore5 · 23/12/2024 13:24

I think we have about 48 toilet rolls down the side of the wardrobe so that's all good.

soundsys · 23/12/2024 13:24

Ha if we didn't have guests we could survive for a good month without leaving the house I think - although after the first week when we'd eaten all the fruit and veg we'd be surviving off frozen party food and chocolate so may not be that healthy at the end of it 😁

EvanBuckleysWife · 23/12/2024 13:25

I mean we don’t have guests coming, just the two of us so we’ll be fine for a few weeks 😂

LuckysDadsHat · 23/12/2024 13:25

On supplies here we could last 2-3 weeks but not with much fruit and veg over those weeks. That would be eaten in the first week no doubt.

Toilet roll i would last at least 3 months. Costco had an offer online and I have 96 rolls.

TiredEyesToday · 23/12/2024 13:26

2 weeks very comfortably
2 further weeks fairly miserably
Maybe another week after that on plain pasta and frozen peas.

NunyaBeeswax · 23/12/2024 13:27

Id be okay for a while.

About a week before the dog better get nervous..

fortnight before the cat "disappears" but at least we have a tasty stew... 🤪

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 23/12/2024 12:33

Wouldn't matter, would never comply with with lockdown again.

This.
I kept to every sodding rule last time. My elderly widowed Mum spent Christmas day alone for the first time in her life. And then it transpired that the decision makers were partying.
Never again.

FeegleFrenzy · 23/12/2024 13:27

I’ve still got a 5kg bag of pasta under the bed from the last lockdown 😃. Only me and dh here, I suspect we could last a few months.

Fluufer · 23/12/2024 13:28

Several weeks. We're hosting today and Christmas day, so mountains of food on top of an already well stocked kitchen. Cake and chocolate alone could sustain us for a week 😂
But it would have to be airborne ebola or something for me to comply again.

well, you can party and kill your mum if you prefer.

just because someone else jumps off a cliff doesn't mean you need to do the same.

Ironfloor269 · 23/12/2024 13:30

God, I’d LOVE for this to happen. Saves me from meeting up with insufferable family on Christmas day and afterwards. We can manage with the food we have in. It’ll be bliss…

Decafflatteplease · 23/12/2024 13:33

We have enough cheese to sink a ship albeit less than the infamous 14 cheeses situation a few years ago.

Only 500ml of baileys left so things could turn very quickly 😂

If you'd said that then someone would come along and say, "how tone deaf, OP. My family were eaten by zombies last summer. We've only just got through Halloween with all the triggering posts and now THIS".

I thought the tone was clear from your OP fwiw Xmas Smile

Fireworknight · 23/12/2024 13:36

Can I collect my turkey and cheeses tomorrow first?

Then I least we could live off macaroni (or other pasta) cheese. We’ve got a bread machine so that would help in the short term. Purchased some sherry this year, so a small glass of that a day will go down nicely.

Actually, just thought, only got a couple of packs of pasta so that’s not going to last to long.

Dog should be okay, as just opened a huge bag of kibble, and have enough butternut box food for a couple of weeks.
