Anyone else awake?

Been lying awake for probably over an hour and a half worried sick about someone close to me, and angry about how their behaviour is affecting my family... Don't know why I'm posting this, think I just want to feel less totally alone 😞

Oh OP. 😥
I'm here listening.
You're not alone.

Thank you so much ♥️ there's nothing I hate more than waking during the night and not getting back to sleep since you're sick with worry. It really does feel very lonely. At least I don't have to get up early today and will hopefully fall back to sleep eventually.

I'm awake
I'm having a hard time too.
I'm here x

AvalancheOfCheese · 17/12/2024 05:11

Hopefully you've managed to get back to sleep x

Anonymous2003 · 17/12/2024 05:15

@AvalancheOfCheese bless you, it really is the worst isn't it. Christmas can be a hard time of the year when there's so much pressure coming from everywhere to be happy. I've decided not to pressurise myself to go back to sleep and might put the TV on til i hopefully doze off

I'm here too. Waking up with worry is not good.

user942557 · 17/12/2024 05:15

Try not to worry about your lack of sleep as it will make you more stressed.
You don't have to be up early, that's good.
We can "mind your worries" for you.
Could you try listening to a podcast or have a nice warm drink?

Yes sometimes trying to go back to sleep makes it worse.
Telly is a good idea.
I hope you're okay.
I was made redundant from a good job, a single mum doing it alone and now worried sick about money etc.
blows my mind how quickly things can change.

Anonymous2003 · 17/12/2024 05:17

@user942557 i might watch something on tv or youtube. It's true that worrying about how many hours of sleep you're gonna get only makes getting back to sleep more difficult

I have joint pain from undiagnosed joint problems… the pain is bad and I can’t sleep too

Ihopeithinkiknow · 17/12/2024 05:19

I didn't even bother going to bed because I knew I would struggle to sleep so I stayed up and decided to put some flat pack furniture up and I will hopefully be so tired by tonight that I will sleep with no problems. Hope you manage to get back to sleep x

I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through ♥️ I know for a fact that one day your kids wont remember the presents or lack thereof they got this year, but they will remember how strong their mum was in the face of adversity and how she pulled through for them. I wish I could offer more than just words. It really is crazy how fast life can change... That's something I have been particularly struggling with this year

Do you know what I am so sorry you had to start this thread. But please know your replies and just knowing someone out there has replied to me means so much. Been feeling very alone.

Thank you.

I'm so sorry you're having a rough time. You're not alone my friend x

I'm awake, have been drifting in and out of sleep since midnight. Firmly in the grip of perimenopause.

I heard that Trip oil is a good sleep enhancer that isn't addictive, might help you somewhat. Best wishes x

Your replies have helped me so much too. It is lovely that we can still rely on the kindness of strangers. This site can be toxic but in my experience the people here have been very comforting to me. Often when I lie awake at night it feels I am the only person in the world awake. Just knowing someone else is out there and is listening to you can make the world of difference.

@ohyesido I have tried various things over the year for sleep to no avail, I think the problem is the worrying more so than sleep itself. However I will keep your suggestion in mind, thank you xx

Been awake since 4am , nothing worse than waking up with a load of worry on your mind OP .
Have a look at the BBC sounds Chill out morning after session it's beautiful and so relaxing . I need to take my own advice 🤗. Hope you get back to sleep very soon and all your troubles are resolved very quickly bless you 💐🤗

AvalancheOfCheese · 17/12/2024 05:29

@Anonymous2003 it really can. And we can't fix each others problems, but I can lend an ear and if you want to talk let me know. Otherwise just know you're not alone. X

I’m here too. It’s that weird point of the morning where I’m never sure whether to keep relaxed or admit defeat and start the day a couple of hours earlier.

Here to lend an ear if you want to offload.

Please remember you’re never alone.

AvalancheOfCheese · 17/12/2024 05:32

I made a huge mistake yesterday and I'm dwelling on it.

Awake since 3 thinking about how my son died in October and hoping he wasn't in pain. Awful images in my head.
