I'm just finishing my first cuppa, with my tablets, then off up to get dressed and make sure dd1's up!

We're off to Harrogate today for the Christmas market 🎄 so leaving bright and early.

Plan is a very steady mooch as I've injured my foot somehow & it's quite painful.

When we get home it'll be cuppa & probably bed for me 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Absolutely nothing - it's howling 60mph+ winds outside and the forecast is only meant to get worse.

Will probably stay home, eat and watch Christmas films on the sofa!

TheaBrandt · 07/12/2024 07:37

We’re not supposed to leave the house and it sounds wild out there. We are in the red zone though

Nocheezesforusmeesez · 07/12/2024 07:39

All of the markets near us are closed due to the weather. Not sure about Harrogate though

I would check that the market is definitely on before heading out. We are in Surrey and most things around here that are outdoors have been cancelled. DH has just taken our dog out before the rain starts. I was going to go shopping but listening to the wind out there, I don’t think I will, so it’s going to be a lazy day indoors, may try and get Christmas cards written to post on Monday.

Martymcfly24 · 07/12/2024 07:41

I have to do all my Christmas shopping today! Im starting early this year 🤣

lucysmam · 07/12/2024 07:42

Oh! I didn't realise, I'll check now, thank you!

Currently on first coffee with youngest child, rest of the house is asleep.

Storm Darragh has put paid to the 2 oldest children’s rowing training this morning, so we will stay put and see what happens. Maybe some crafts later, catch up on the advent jigsaw and cook something nice.

Youngest has a Beavers Christmas party this afternoon so that’ll provide a little entertainment.

Storm is meant to blow itself out overnight I think.

ChristmasEveNotChristmasSteve · 07/12/2024 07:43

I woke up early and have moved to the sofa with a hot water bottle and the tree lit.

Going to make breakfast soon - homemade sourdough toast - then when my partner gets up we're going to a Christmas Fair with my parents and having lunch there.

We'll probably just laze around for the rest of the day/evening, and make a nice supper although we haven't decided what yet.

TheaBrandt · 07/12/2024 07:43

Markets all shut today here anyway

Simonjt · 07/12/2024 07:43

I’ve got a sporting even this weekend, so I’m making sure I’ve got everything ready to go for today and tomorrow.

Its cloudy here today, but no wind. Have a nice time in harrogate @lucysmam

RomeinApril · 07/12/2024 07:44

I would double check the market is on today as I'm in York & they've closed the Christmas market here today due to the weather

vodkaredbullgirl · 07/12/2024 07:45

Staying home far too windy, red zone and not very nice. Been off on annual leave with my DD this week, already done what we wanted to do.

GreenSedan · 07/12/2024 07:46

I'm.going to run a very windy park run and then do some Christmas shopping. I'm starting to feel anxious because I have done very little!

Justonedayatatime11 · 07/12/2024 07:46

It's windy here in Norfolk but not majorly. So will be off to the yard shortly to help DD muck out and watch her ride. Then off to M&S to pick up food for tonight as we have friends coming over.

Tomorrow is looking like being a full on duvet day. We were out at a show last night and are all shattered today!

ErrolTheDragon · 07/12/2024 07:47

The wind woke us early, I'm about to get my second mug of tea and come back to read a bit of news (ok, do some Times puzzles and browse MN). First load of washing onHalo - I think it's a hunker down and housework day here as we've amber warnings.

Harrogate is in the yellow zone, it doesn't look like it's bad at the moment but forecast to get v rainy and windier OP ...I think if I was there I'd be diving into a cosy teashop and staying there.

Theoldwoman · 07/12/2024 07:48

Nearly 4pm here and 38 degrees Celsius. Sitting on the couch with the iPad. Dogs are chilling nearby. My granddaughter has just left. 23 year old DD has gone to a festival. DH gone to the supermarket. Not feeling Christmassey at all after burying our 21 year old daughter last week.

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 07/12/2024 07:48

One of the Harrogate markets has definitely been cancelled this morning.

No plans for today apart from picking DC1 up tonight from 30 miles away.

Not sure what I’ll do yet today tbh. It feels nice to have a choice of a quiet day.

Bread is on its second prove, I didn’t realise we’d run out so thought I better make some for breakfast.

lucysmam · 07/12/2024 07:49

Knaresborough is cancelled - I'm not sure about Harrogate, can't find anything. It was just showing rain on my weather app.

You're nice and early today lucysmam

Your day sounds wonderful.

We have swimming at 9.30am but I think I'm going to leave the older two at home as DC2 has a cough and DC1 can supervise (little one has private lessons so if we miss them we still pay £35🙄)

The tree went up yesterday but we need one more set of lights - which I've ordered and will collect later - and then we'll finish decorating her. She's a beauty!!

We're only in a yellow warning area but it's horrible hear so we may forgo this evenings carol service. They've moved it to an inside venue but it now means a bus trip (whereas initial location was a 2 minute walk)

I think we may just batten down the hatches once I get my extra lights. I've had lasagne requested for dinner, have already made the bolognese, just need to make a bechamel sauce and construct it.

We are going to watch Elf tonight with hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Edited to add even London have closed Winter Wonderland due to the weather.

Soitis83 · 07/12/2024 07:51

Having a coffee. 2/3 of the kids are up. I've got a massage booked in today but not sure if I'm going to be able to get to it in these winds!

Is the market called Little Bird in Harrogate? There's a news article in local press that one is closed but I'm not sure if that's a separate one or the main one

why0whydear · 07/12/2024 07:53

Just been up. 3 year old still sleeping which is odd. He's normally awake before me.

I've to take him to his football class. And after that just chill at home. Might order in pizzas for later.

DH had a Christmas party last night all night (that is his one night out every year) so he'll be pretty much useless today.

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 07/12/2024 07:53

Lots of things postponed here @lucysmam . Fountains Abbey is shut all weekend. Valley Gardens market cancelled. ETA just got a msg to say Harlow Carr is closed too.

JMAngel1 · 07/12/2024 07:54

Morning all

The wind is howling here - expecting DD2’s football match to be called off imminently.

DH has just brought me a lovely cup of tea and I’m reading one of my comfort Christmas books “Comfort and Joy” India Knight. I think I’ve read it 8 or 9 times and it still makes me howl out loud every year!

Not sure what to do today - need to finish untangling fairy lights and threading new ornaments bought with ribbon to finish off the 3rd tree in the conservatory. Ran out of time and steam last weekend.

Will have to go collect DD1 from a sleepover and go visit my Dad and brother. Also have some returns to do.

Then pizza and a Christmas movie later. We cracked open the Christmas treats last night watching Home Alone - Aldi florentines are divine this year. So will probably have another one of those tonight.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.
