I'm just finishing my first cuppa, with my tablets, then off up to get dressed and make sure dd1's up!

We're off to Harrogate today for the Christmas market 🎄 so leaving bright and early.

Plan is a very steady mooch as I've injured my foot somehow & it's quite painful.

When we get home it'll be cuppa & probably bed for me 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

@Theoldwoman I'm so very sorry to read about your dd 💐

@EachpeachpearplumIspytomthumb Poundland, or I think the one I used was from one of those pop-up Christmas shops. I'm sure somewhere like Boyes/The Range would stock it too.

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone - stay safe today if you’re affected by the storm. It’s bad here in Cornwall. DH is going to move a big panel from next door’s fence which has blown into our back garden - worried the bunnies will get squished. Two of them are out atm & it’s making them frisky, like kiddies in the playground. I’ve had a cuppa made by DH & need to hop in the shower to wash my hair. Going to look through my wardrobe to find something Christmassy to wear for a concert tonight. There’s a load of washing just finishing with another to go in. The dishwasher hasn’t got enough in it to go on yet. DH has cancelled his work this morning. I’m due to go in this afternoon so hopefully it will all have died down a bit by then. There won’t be time to eat before I go out so I’ll probably have soup or something on toast when I get home. DH & DD15 will sort themselves out. Need to catch up on the soaps as we were out last night. Have a great Saturday all!

Nearly 4pm here and 38 degrees Celsius. Sitting on the couch with the iPad. Dogs are chilling nearby. My granddaughter has just left. 23 year old DD has gone to a festival. DH gone to the supermarket. Not feeling Christmassey at all after burying our 21 year old daughter last week.

so dreadfully,dreadfully sorry

LoudPlumDog · 07/12/2024 09:12

Thank you. I have support and I am taking good care of me! It was all very sudden. Just dropped dead one morning. Sad sad sad.

Just waiting for it to cool down here so I can get outside and water the vegetable garden.

Soccermumamir · 07/12/2024 09:15

Just chilling today. Weather is starting to look awful today.

We just moved into our new home on Tuesday so we haven't got any Christmas decorations up yet. We were planning on going out to get a tree this morning but now slightly concerned about the weather..... may put all other decorations up and get tree tomorrow instead. Still loads of sorting to do but almost all unpacked. Moving house is stressful!!! Especially with four kids. Hubby hungover in bed after his Christmas party last night. I'm building Lego with DD3 and DS3 and trying not to stress about the way my DM unpacked my utility yesterday that I need to rearrange everything! 🤪 Saturday everyone ♥️

Oldraver · 07/12/2024 09:23

On the last (only) train out of Wolverhampton to home in Oxford, our onward train (only 7 minutes)is cancelled so gonna jump in a taxi

Just hoping it all holds out, going very slow at the moment

We were on the last train out of Bristol the other week so fingers s crossed

Kim82 · 07/12/2024 09:23

Good morning everyone.

@Theoldwoman I am so sorry to hear about your dd, I can’t even imagine what you and your family are going through.

The wind is howling here so we’re having a day in the house. D17 was going to go to Manchester markets but they’ve been cancelled due to the weather so she’s sulking. I feel sorry for dh having to work outside in it today (he’s a postman).

Just me and dd10 are awake at the moment. I’m waiting for my Tesco shop then will clean the house and do some washing and potter around for the day. I’m making a homemade Chinese for tea then Ds23 and his boyfriend are coming round tonight for wine and a Christmas film. Not sure if I’ll bother having any wine but it'll be nice to see them both.

OldTinHat · 07/12/2024 09:23

Morning!

Good luck going to Harrogate. SE here, everything is cancelled, wind is currently 65kmph and there's stuff blowing about all over outside.

I have the builder coming to (finally) finish the last of the damp works. Hooray! I'll be sitting in the kitchen with the dog, crafting.

I had planned to take dog on a long walk whilst the builder was here, but we overdid our walk yesterday, and it's triggered off my CPS. Bah. Just as well the weather is bad, I have even more of an excuse to stay in! Dog is an elderly rescue and she's still knackered from yesterday, anyway.

Keep safe, everyone.

Bitchillywillytoday · 07/12/2024 09:28

Not much wind but rain rain rain, so not venturing out today, but so stiff off all the work I did outside yesterday I need a bit of a rest, its been a rather trying week

May do what many are and look at some Christmas films, put the fire on (heating not working properly, part of the trying week) could be that I have to break into some Christmas chocs early perhaps?

If I can be chewed, I bought some holly and got a huge bundle of Norman Fir cut offs for free from the garden centre, so may make some Christmas swags for outside. Been a bad year for holly berries this year apparently they have not produced many, never mind I have some realistic fake ones.

Then will end up snoozing.........with a Bailys...

Oldraver · 07/12/2024 09:29

@Theoldwoman so sorry

Bitchillywillytoday · 07/12/2024 09:31

@Theoldwoman condolences to you and your family.

To those who have bad weather and plans cancelled, hopefully your all safe and no damage done.

Figgygal · 07/12/2024 09:31

In the red zone so all the planned activities cancelled - a local xmas fayre, ds indoor football as centre has closed, then dh and ds were watching local team.

Xmas cards and new netflix xmas film for us I think

48wheaties · 07/12/2024 09:34

@Theoldwoman my heart goes out to you and your family. Sending condolences 🙏🏿

48wheaties · 07/12/2024 09:35

coffeesaveslives · 07/12/2024 07:34

Absolutely nothing - it's howling 60mph+ winds outside and the forecast is only meant to get worse.

Will probably stay home, eat and watch Christmas films on the sofa!

This!

Thislittlekitten · 07/12/2024 09:47

Morning all.

I was woken at 530am by the dog for a pee but managed to get back to sleep.

Lazy morning here. DH had his Christmas night out last night. I have a lunch with work today.
I’m about to make breakfast for everyone.

Should be home at a decent time so might watch a Christmas movie later with the kids.

Weather not to bad here. NE Scotland. Think we are missing the worse.

Zippedydodah · 07/12/2024 09:47

I’m so sorry @Theoldwoman , how utterly heartbreaking 💔 x
’Morning all!
So far the dog and I have been out for a brief walk (her decision!), several houses have fence panels down, I’m very relieved that I had ours all replaced earlier this year and most of the lanes from here and the village have trees down so quite happy to stay home.
It’s pretty windy here, and raining, but I have seen it worse but I don’t know if the brunt of the storm has reached south Glos/north Wiltshire yet?
I’ve just done a pile of ironing and put it away, now I have the rest of the day to do whatever I like!

RabbitsRock · 07/12/2024 09:52

theoldwoman so sorry 💐💐💐

Alwaystired23 · 07/12/2024 09:55

@Theoldwoman, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Another one who is staying indoors today as we're in the red zone. I had a hair dressers appointment this morning that has obviously been cancelled as they are now shut. I'm going to do a bit of tidying and put the Christmas tree up, watch Christmas films, and sort out presents. I have uni work to do, but I feel like I've hit a brick wall at the moment.

MissMarplesNiece · 07/12/2024 09:59

@lucysmam Your window is lovely - I'm going to copy it. Are the trunks just the bare glass showing through?
@Theoldwoman So sorry for your loss, your daughter was so young, it must be heart wrenching for you and your family.

DH and I are going into Solihull, first to a Christmas Craft Fair in aid of Cats Protection and then to do a bit of Christmas shopping. We'll call in at Aldi and buy some of those Florentines that @JMAngel1 mentioned.

TheCatCameBack112 · 07/12/2024 10:00

Thoughts are with you @ThTheoldwoman

I had No daytime plans today except maybe a library visit and to collect my prescription. I think the weather will keep me in! I went Christmas shopping to the retail park last night so need to sort through what I've bought and who I still need to buy for. And whether I have the required paper and tags and bows. I had loads left last year but need to do an inventory.

I haven't had breakfast yet, just a coffee so dh has gone to put some sourdough toast on for me.

I have some reading to do for my course and also need to prep a presentation for an interview I have next week.

Ill do some washing and change the bed sheets and I expect my mum will be along at some point.

This evening we are going to my ILs for a party for my MILs birthday. There will be food and drinks, I am taking the cake. I'm sure it will be a late one.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm today
