That's my morning gone!!

Nosleepforthismum · 07/12/2024 08:15

South Devon here and right next to the sea. Not as bad as I was expecting last night. Garden furniture still intact as are bins. In fact outside looks fairly calm now.

👋🏻
Hi! I think you’re down the hill from me! All the roads out of my village have fallen trees, not that I was planning to go anywhere.

Hi Zippedydodah!
I think you've probably got it worse - we're a bit tucked in at the base of the hill!
Apologies if a wheelie bin makes it's way up there 😬
Haven't had much rain yet but the gusts are quite lively!

@HelpMeGetThrough 👋 hope you get through it ok! My roof faces west so am hoping the tiles will be ok.

At least it's dry and a bit of blue sky.

I think the Tesco delivery might be a bit late.

HalloweenGrinch · 07/12/2024 08:29

Local parkrun canceled (coastal Devon) so off out to run hill repeats away from any trees. Anyone joining me?!

OhshutupSimonyounobhead · 07/12/2024 08:30

Shropshire here - very windy and lashing it down. It blew my (knackered) bathroom window open - I wondered why it felt so cold!!

Kids at Uni in Bristol and Bath so have told them to hunker down.

Our Tesco delivery was cancelled 😖

Thanks @Sincerelyours

I’m a few miles down the road from the airport, so I can hear the wind but to see the planes trying to land had a few heart stopping moments - especially when they had to go round again.

Rainbow321 · 07/12/2024 08:38

I'm still in bed . We sleep against an outside wall and it's groaning and making noises near the ceiling .
Coastal Cumbria.

DH would. He's just getting his skimpies on now and heading off to the top of the hill to "feel the weather" 😬
Enjoy your run!

HalloweenGrinch · 07/12/2024 08:47

Bloody hell. Protect and Survive went off again.

whyhere · 07/12/2024 08:49

I'm nowhere near any 'red' areas (south east London) but the winds have been fierce enough to wake me during the night and my metal, very heavy garden furniture has been thrown around, so I can't think how bad it must be elsewhere!

PickAChew · 07/12/2024 08:50

Thatnameistaken · 07/12/2024 07:10

Not a breath of wind in Co Durham at the moment. It's forecast up to 50mph later this morning but that's not unusual for the time of year. The west is definitely getting the worst of it.

66mph forecast here in Durham itself. Glad I'm not on the coast.

Autistic Ds2 is nattering to get out so DH is taking him to Tesco to pick up a few bits and examine their stocks of his favourite snack bars before it hits us properly. It's already pickling down. We postponed his weekly walk with his carer when the warnings came through so he's going to be climbing the walls.

xmascrackerr · 07/12/2024 08:55

NE here. Rainy but no wind. Our local Christmas Market has been cancelled all weekend, feel so sorry for those small business traders who will have lost an absolute fortune.

SpringleDingle · 07/12/2024 08:55

In the amber area in inland rural north wales here. All parkruns nearby are cancelled so we had a lie in. Getting up shortly to see if the dog wants a walk (I doubt it!). Raining and windy but nothing extreme however local Facebook reports lots of debris on the roads out of the village so unlikely to go far today!

RampantIvy · 07/12/2024 08:57

allthatfalafel · 07/12/2024 00:24

Barely a breeze here, not expecting anything significant since we're 3 hours from the nearest coast.

Same here. I'm on the edge of the Pennines in South Yorkshire and we don't have any weather wanings, just a forecast for wind and rain.

HelpMeGetThrough · 07/12/2024 08:58

Our Tesco delivery was cancelled 😖

Apparently they are coming between 11 and 12 now.

I hope so, we have a box of wine to hit this afternoon!! 😁 we do have an emergency bottle and co-op down the road to get another, so we can get "supplies".

Dibbydoos · 07/12/2024 08:59

West Mids, it's raining, the winds are now strong and gusting - yellow zone.

I can hear my fencing moaning and my extractor fan has been whistling all night as air is being forced through it.

Def not going out today.

Stay safe everyone x

VWT5 · 07/12/2024 09:01

At Stansted departures - all flights seem to be getting away without problems so far and since early morning.

PuggyPuggyPuggy · 07/12/2024 09:09

Anyone getting the government's weather warning going off repeatedly? It's gone twice this morning and about 5 or 6 times yesterday. Like, I get it, now fucking stop!

Changed18 · 07/12/2024 09:10

I’ve had a warning email from the managers of our local tennis court, advising while the tennis courts themselves are not in the red warning area, there is an amber alert so maybe best not to play today. If it was in the red alert they’d be closed.

Made me chuckle. Can’t imagine lots of people want to go and play tennis in the wind. and rain in the park, not even my DS and his friends, who play surprisingly regularly and sometimes when quite dark.

Noshowlomo · 07/12/2024 09:12

South wales here. Our house was shaking overnight and our outside table umbrella has vanished completely! Someone around us has now got a new umbrella 🥴

RosaMoline · 07/12/2024 09:13

Home Counties here. Was meant to be going into Windsor with friends today for a boozy brunch. We’ve cancelled!

Alwaystired23 · 07/12/2024 09:13

I'm in the red zone, near the Welsh coast. There's a lot of trees that have blown down blocking roads. Next door, a tree has blow down and gone through the fence into another neighbours. Another neighbours green house is looking pretty wrecked. We appear lucky so far, with just a few things blown around. One of the roads out of the village is blocked due to a fallen tree. Most places are closed. All my animals are indoors and safe.

FancyAReallyLongUsernameJustForAChange · 07/12/2024 09:19

It's due to ramp up in the next hour where I am. We are in a yellow area so hoping it won't be too bad this time. There was a lot of flooding in the area during Storm Bert.
