NW on the coast. Wind has been up all night but really took off about 2 hours ago. Too loud to get back to sleep!
All footie games cancelled this weekend so my DS is going to be kicking his heels!

OrangesCinammonIvy · 07/12/2024 06:42

Near London and it's woken me up it sounds quite relentless, usually there are gusts but this is a constant moan

Ifailed · 07/12/2024 06:50

Gusty winds here, but planes still landing at Gatwick. I'm in kent.

Bristol, red zone.
Sounds rough out there. Wind woke me up.
Both kids clubs cancelled today.
I wonder if all the premier league matches will go ahead, DH is taking DD to one today.

Just lost our gate! Blew right off. Only had it for about 4 months too!! Have had lots of plant pots picked up and smashed too!!

OrangesCinammonIvy · 07/12/2024 07:04

@Sincerelyours thank you. This helped to keep me focused when we were in a red zone.

HelpMeGetThrough · 07/12/2024 07:06

Cornwall and it's currently gusting about 76mph, so a little breezy at the moment.

Thatnameistaken · 07/12/2024 07:10

Not a breath of wind in Co Durham at the moment. It's forecast up to 50mph later this morning but that's not unusual for the time of year. The west is definitely getting the worst of it.

Oblomov24 · 07/12/2024 07:13

Bristol. 100's of us at a works Christmas do in a big hotel last night. I'm off to breakfast soon. Hoping we can drive home to Surrey later this morning? Worst will over by 11am hopefully.

DefyingGravy · 07/12/2024 07:14

Anyone in Pembrokeshire who can report what it’s like? MIL is on a hill about a mile from the sea (and doesn’t hear her phone so no point calling her in the morning).

justasking111 · 07/12/2024 07:16

Try local FB groups. Traffic Wales NRW Etc

All my family are in Pembs. Many trees down during the night - local council worker have been working all night to clear them.

Power still on I believe. All events have been cancelled, along with the bus services. Bridges closed too.

Sheknowsaboutme · 07/12/2024 07:19

Ive just woken up to a great sleep! But i do use earplugs 😀

terribly windy, police have closed a few roads around due to fallen trees. But council cant go out due to conditions. Not like people are in a mad rush to go anywhere!

its not lashing down but as the gusts come i can hear the rain on the windows.

im terribly exposed, nothing around me, its blowing all around the house. Too dark to go out to inspect!

Hampshire coast, woke couple of times during the night with the wind blowing, the door in the bedroom to the eaves kept creaking and heard rain at one point.

At the moment, windy, can't hear any rain but will check on FB soon and see if there is any damage locally or signs of flooding to property at the creek few minutes from me.

BlondeFool · 07/12/2024 07:28

North London. The wind woke me up. I can't imagine being in a red zone.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 07/12/2024 07:32

Wales in Amber zone - gusty, howling wind, lashing of rain.

Augustus40 · 07/12/2024 07:32

Wind very blowy in the east mids.

EdithBond · 07/12/2024 07:33

Windows rattling and squeaking in London. Intermittent banging. The red zone must be wild.

ChopstickNovice · 07/12/2024 07:38

Cardiff. We took everything inside that could be blown away - pot plants etc. All sports games are cancelled.

It's very windy and lashing rain.

emwithme · 07/12/2024 07:39

Red zone, N Somerset here - couple of streets inland from the seafront. It's rattly out there but everything out of the bedroom window appears to be where it was last night.

DH works in an industry that doesn't stop (he had a "I'm on my way to work" letter during COVID) and is in a new job so he's headed off with instructions not to drive like an idiot on the motorway. He's very sensible most of the time so I'm just lying in bed with DD asleep next to me waiting for a message to say he's arrived safely.

It's a weird gloom out there though. All grey and brown sky.

OrangesCinammonIvy · 07/12/2024 07:41

@EdithBond I think our peak wind hits soon then subsides to 50

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/12/2024 07:44

Pretty ferocious winds here (outer SW London) this morning, and we’re not even in the warning zone.,

Sunnyside4 · 07/12/2024 07:47

Gloucestershire. Definitely calmer at the moment, seemed worse first half of night.

Message came out from work that deliveries couldn't be made/were cancelled to their local stores this morning. Consequently a massive delivery due in 4.30am Monday and extra staff required. I don't think they'll get many takers as no one wants to start that early unless it's their regular hours.

user1492757084 · 07/12/2024 07:48

Are Gatwick and Heathrow still open with planes landing?
Do trains still run in to London?
