@Sheknowsaboutme which country

CourgettesCarrots · 06/12/2024 16:55

I'm close to the Welsh border and the winds have just picked up here in the last half hour. It's already quite noisy out there. I went out this morning and did all my shopping for the weekend so feeling prepared on the whole. I'm home alone. I just really don't the power to go out.

MothToAnInferno · 06/12/2024 16:57

I'm in the West of Ireland I think we are in a yellow warning at the minute and red from 9. It's a bit windy and very wet. Nothing major at the minute. Just a regular rubbish day.

I'm in carmarthenshire, I've just been outside and it's very still at the moment. The calm before the storm?

Dead calm here in Kent.

Normallynumb · 06/12/2024 17:16

Heavy rain in West Wiltshire

Jellykat · 06/12/2024 17:18

Sooo much rain @Dromaeosauridae but we're a hardy lot Grin have to be!

Threewheeler1 · 06/12/2024 17:18

Hello from Bath Smile
Closing the sheds?! That'll be a temporary upside then - couldn't move in town yesterday!
DH has chosen this particular point in time to clean out the (completely blocked, non-functioning) gutters...I give him 10 minutes before he comes in defeated, it's pissing it down.
Wind's picking up a bit. Don't think we're set to be nearly as bad as Wales/borders, but wondering how many big branches will be down this time - neighbour has a enormous ash that's so brittle & towers over our garden. If it fell (we're down hill of it), it'd fully squash the house. Always get a bit twitchy in these winds.
DS1 is in Cardiff but think he's planning on staying put inside!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/12/2024 17:19

Rain and wind in somerset. We are costal and in the red alert 🚨 area. I’ve said I’m not going to work tomorrow.

Oooh lovely, I'll be round in half an hour 🍷

Cheersmedears123 · 06/12/2024 17:26

We’ve got an amber wind warning and I can hear the wind picking up. DH is sure we’ll still be able to go out and find a Christmas tree tomorrow but I’m not convinced! Bit gutted really as I was looking forward to decorating a tree tomorrow.

LumpyandBumps · 06/12/2024 17:28

All calm here in East Anglia at present. Very much thinking of those in the Red Warning area and wishing them well.

@Threewheeler1 waving at you from up near the Uni !! Yep, if it's not too windy tomorrow I am doing some Xmas shopping without all the sheds traffic!!

Strangely I am due to have the gutters people here tommorrow - they haven't cancelled yet!

OrangesCinammonIvy · 06/12/2024 17:32

@Sheknowsaboutme does that affect Chester area?

ClementineChurchill · 06/12/2024 17:33

To the east of London here so only a yellow for us. Calm and fairly warm day. I’ve just been out tying my bins down, out of an abundance of caution. I hate wind most, of all weathers.

Elphamouche · 06/12/2024 17:36

@MrsMoastyToasty 59 sheds of shite is the most accurate description I have ever seen.

South West of Bristol and the rain has been pretty constant for a couple of days. Believe we’re due to be hit from 3am. We are also in the Red danger to life warning.

OrangesCinammonIvy · 06/12/2024 17:37

@ClementineChurchill same. It's unpredictable and does the most damage.. Snow is bad when bad but unless your caught out on a country lane in it you can manage it car better

Hi Crikey - we could probably wave at each other, I look over at the Uni hill (and all that lovely sunshine whilst I'm in the shade)😁
You must be due a bit of a blow over there!
Good idea tackling town tomorrow, might be wet but it'll be quiet - love it when it's like that. Was like human soup yesterday and I instantly regretted it 😬
DH has survived his gutter fiddling and is now behaving like a bit of a hero, possibly not as ballsy as your gutter clearers - they sound like they're up for a bit of danger 😮

Jabtastic · 06/12/2024 17:55

I hope everyone stays safe! Lots of outdoor events cancelled in NI this week even before the storm but we get a lot of stormy weather here.

MothToAnInferno · 06/12/2024 18:03

I'm just back from walking 2 very reluctant dogs. It's 3 hours til the red warning hits here, it's whipping up a fair breeze now. My timing was spot on though, dodged the showers and got in just as it started peeing it down again.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/12/2024 18:03

@Threewheeler1 yep it's its own microclimate up here - hail yesterday morning and foggy mist mornings in autumn/winter. I go into town and it's clear as a bell!!

I love it the day after the sheds bugger off and we have that lovely carousel on stall st - wonder if it will be there this year as they've cut back it seems-though I understand why-
