Anyone else feeling annoyed at how backwards the world is going?

Heard on the radio about how so many women in Scandinavian countries are becoming trad wives.
These are not just stay at home mums these are believing in the whole men work and women stay at home . Very traditional gender split.
Then on the radio talking now how many young men are following reform. A backlash against feminism and of course same old thing angry young men are attracted to the far right as they tell them it's everyone else to blame for their problems.
Andrew tate bollox a form of radicalisation which farage has jumped on.
I just find all this depressing.
Even listening today about how them footballers didn't want a pride flag on their kit.
You can't catch being gay. We haven't even had a fully committed gay footballer at the top as there is alot of homophonia amongst fans
I just find this a backward slide do you?

I understand what you are saying. And I will concur, but still people need to do fact checking I did, and it's nothing like what these people are going on about

that i also agree with, people seem to eager to believe bill down the pub or a soundbite of the newspapers etc give the public tv shows and football and they are easily distracted

He didn't even need to give an explanation. He didn't want to wear it. End of. It's not part of his job description. pushing political or social messaging is not a part of sport.

His refusal will prompt many youngsters to say No to any actions they are uncomfortable with & do not want to partake in. I'm so glad his teammates stood by him & also refused to wear the coats.

Just being yourself (if you're gay, lesbian) shouldn't be seen as "pushing political messaging" though.
With people being attacked, whether physically or verbally for being gay, with men's football being notoriously homophobic, I see it as a good thing that they openly show support now.
I saw Matt Lucas tweet tonight, that he had homophobic abuse thrown at him at football, that he wasn't wanted there.
So good on clubs if some want to stand up and say "actually, those gobshites don't speak for us."
Making people feel safer is a good thing in my eyes.

That wasn't because they stood by him, it's because they felt an obligation not to single out a player.

but in order to make society better, then most of the religions need to be scrapped due to the texts of those books,

But if the footballer doesn't want to wear the coat he absolutely does not have to. His job is to play football. His body. His choice. His teammates also stood by him & refused to wear the coats , he didn't ask them to.

I see it as good role modelling, it's showing young adults & kids to never agree to something if it makes you feel uncomfortable. Say no. End of.

I imagine plenty of his teammate felt uncomfortable not wearing the jackets they had very happily previously worn, out of a sense of obligation to protect one of their team.

So many threads i think need to be told 'use your brain and think for yourself'

If you don't want to do something don't but 'social media/the neighbours, BFF, the person in the supermarket, some terrible reality tv show made me do it i can't come up with an original thought it my head'

Use brains will travel

It is almost mesmerising to watch as the tenets of progressivism morph into yet another way for white people to castigate black and brown people, and to denigrate their cultures and heritage.
OP, Mazraoui has said nothing about his reasons for not wanting to wear a rainbow jersey except that they are connected with his religious faith.
You have given a very detailed explanation of what his true motivation is. How do you know this? Are you in private correspondence with him?
No, you look at the colour of his skin. And you think you know that all brown people think the same way. So therefore you "know" what he actually thinks.
It's really really really racist and it stinks and I hope one day you wake up but I'm not holding my breath because the cloak of self righteousness is the sturdiest cover for all manner of evils.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/12/2024 01:24

Interesting. I just think it starts with hate if you watch Star Wars. Yoda says it right. Anger leads to the dark side, and it's true genuinely believe this is what's happening in the world.

Nice one GrinGrin

Their choice to support him . Mazouri made his & did not ask them to join him. They should never gave been put in that position in the first place. Political agendas have no place in sports. Delighted this backfired on whoever tried to instigate it.
It showed millions of kids that you do not need to follow the status quo , if you don't feel comfortable say No.

It showed millions of gay kids that are a bit more unwelcome and that they should be a little bit more frightened today.

but religion has also been doing that for years then also different govts etc society needs a rethink and a new middle way philosophy to replace religions to update them for the progressive modern era

Mazouri should never have been put in that position so if you want to point fingers start with the brightsparks who tried to enforce it on him & the team.
He was completely within his rights to refuse.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/12/2024 01:28

As pp said, blame the people who put him in that position to send a message when he didn't want to.

Religion is not race. It doesn't matter what his motives are. If they are about religion that is not about racial, that is about his religion.
That religion may be Christianity, Islam, or whatever. I don't particularly care sitting there under the guise of religion for why you don't accept the pride. Flag is still Bad and don't care what anybody says it might well be Thats the culture doesn't agree with people being gay. I know that there are many African countries that that happens to be True, but that's not the point that still means it's wrong. This isn't about race. This is simply about religion

They're only doing it for rightthink points anyway, surely no one is so naive as to think large corporate entities actually give a fuck?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/12/2024 01:31

You sum up the issue there inadvertently @suggestionsplease1

Perhaps they've now realised how cynical it all is?

I agree they don't give a shit but my post was really about the wider feeling of the right making us all feel like the fights for justice have gone backwards.
The flag is by the by for me. The reasoning is against religion is bloody wrong as being gay is not a choice

We all know it's a token gesture. But I also think we should be hammering about the fact there is no major openly gay football player because of homophobic abuse in football that is wrong

They can do that without compelling individual players' speech.
