Anyone else feeling annoyed at how backwards the world is going?

Heard on the radio about how so many women in Scandinavian countries are becoming trad wives.
These are not just stay at home mums these are believing in the whole men work and women stay at home . Very traditional gender split.
Then on the radio talking now how many young men are following reform. A backlash against feminism and of course same old thing angry young men are attracted to the far right as they tell them it's everyone else to blame for their problems.
Andrew tate bollox a form of radicalisation which farage has jumped on.
I just find all this depressing.
Even listening today about how them footballers didn't want a pride flag on their kit.
You can't catch being gay. We haven't even had a fully committed gay footballer at the top as there is alot of homophonia amongst fans
I just find this a backward slide do you?

You could be making the most relevant points in the world OP but your presentation of them is letting you down.

Do you think people should be actively forced to wear symbols that they disagree with?

That's why the PP compared (and rightly so because it is comparable).

Well, I would want to know why you would disagree with a flag that is trying to support gay people in a sport were traditionally.Gay people can't even come out because of the homophobic abuse

It could be a backlash to all the woke craziness the last few years

Exactly. Imagine men now feel entitled to enter female only personal spaces because they imagine they are women!

SmalllChange · 05/12/2024 00:05

Littlemissgobby · 05/12/2024 00:01

Completely agree with that and what's going on with the taliban is absolutely disgusting, but is it freedom of choice, or is it being put on by other men?We do not know?
Answer I can quite happily agree that people have the freedom to choose what they want. All I'm saying it is this way of trying to do this. It's really sad. It's really, really sad that people like andrew tate seems to have had a lot of influence over a lot of young men and now women are watching, very similar things online and I think it's very sad

Ok you're not making sense now.

So you believe people should have the freedom to do what they want, but you also think footballers should be forced to wear something they don't want to, that symbolizes something they disagree with? 😳

claratheskivvy · 05/12/2024 00:05

This is nuts 😂

I really don't care if some women in Scandinavian countries choose to be trad wives, or some footballers don't want to be billboards for causes.
Objectively the world is better on many scales - infant mortality rates are reducing, life expectation increasing, a greater proportion of the world's population has access to clean water than ever before, more girls have access to education than ever before. Sure things aren't perfect, but globally the living standard for the average person is increasing.

It was getting better. Sadly it's now taken a turn downwards. More children are dying from hunger and preventable illnesses again.
Life expectancy is reducing and quality of life too.
The rise of popularism is making things worse.

Littlemissgobby · 05/12/2024 00:06

claratheskivvy · 05/12/2024 00:01

And this is exactly why so many people despise the left 🤦

So you've just literally generalised, because I've just said to somebody that I didn't agree with how they've come across, how ridiculous is that I actually think that's probably why I can't stand the right, because some are petty and cant argue for nothing.

Well, as a white working class person, do tell me how I should be presenting myself. That is more better, maybe that's the problem.Maybe there should be more voices like mine discussing this stuff

But you have no right to know, unless the footballers in question want to divulge that to you?

If they don't, they still have the right to personal choice, no?

The footballer was absolutely well within his rights to say No to something he did not wany to wear.
He owed no one an explanation. Just no. I'm so happy his teammates stood by him & didn't wear it either.
It is a wonderful demonstration to young people that they should no be forced into anything they are uncomfortable with . Just say No

Wow.

And that's fine, except for they do it for the reason that they don't think people should be gay and personally, I think that is wrong too

He doesn’t wear it because he is a practising Muslim, he hasn’t expressed any homophobic opinions himself- and the pride flag is about much more than simply being gay. I am fully supportive of the LGB community but if my employer tried to force me to wear anything pride-branded I wouldn’t do it.

It’s absolutely nothing to do with that, as nobody here can tell your background. It’s your tone, that manages to be patronizing and childish at the same time.

Moonlightstars · 05/12/2024 00:01

Some woke bollocks (trans mania) is allowing a whole lot of slippage back to male dominance. By saying it's all woke. Feminism is woke. Being anti racist is woke etc.
The right have played this well.
It annoys me people can't see this.

Absolutely

BananaSpanner · 05/12/2024 00:11

I agree with a lot of what you say but do you follow football? I ask because it seems every week footballers are being asked to back a different cause and display symbols connected with those causes regardless of their actual views or beliefs. I doubt they even know what cause they’re actually supporting some weeks.

I would expect that, regardless of their beliefs, those footballers should treat everyone with respect and tolerance but if they privately don’t agree with something, should they be forced into publically supporting it? It sad that the rainbow laces campaign has caused controversy and division as there will be players at all age levels struggling with their sexuality that will decide to stay closeted as a result.

Such a left wing viewpoint - caring more about words and feelings than actual standard of living of people.

Standard of living is already on decline. Clean waters are not as clean as before. British waters were already tested and found microplastics and forever chemicals, and with the introduction of deregulations that’s been talked about with such passion by the right, the content of these chemicals will surely increase together with the decline of food standard.
