hopefully nothing.
I can't stand pride anymore

DecayingRelic · 04/12/2024 13:12

good on him

claratheskivvy · 04/12/2024 13:14

His choice.

If your religion precludes anybody then it’s your religion you should be questioning.

OvaHere · 04/12/2024 13:17

This is easily resolved by footballers just wearing team jerseys and any of them that want to support causes/activism/charity/politics can do so in their own time.

SirChenjins · 04/12/2024 13:19

No-one should be forced to wear something that reflects a belief they don't share. Good for him - and his team mates who want to wear a rainbow can do so when they're not at work.

MagpiePi · 04/12/2024 13:21

Good for him.
Why can't they have a jacket for disability awareness, Alzheimer's awareness, or any one of the other myriad of disadvantaged groups that face discrimination?

Viviennemary · 04/12/2024 13:22

He shouldn't be forced to support that cause if he chooses not to. He doesn't live in a dictatorship.

Seeingadistance · 04/12/2024 13:23

Good for him. This enforced compliance with all things LGBT/Trans/Rainbow/Pinkwashing is very troubling and sinister.

Balloonhearts · 04/12/2024 13:23

Nothing. They can't do anything. It's against his beliefs. He isn't campaigning for all homosexual relationships to be banned and burned alive, he's just refusing to wear a t shirt in open support of them. People are entitled to not support something.

I don't believe people can change sex for example so I wouldn't wear something declaring me a trans ally. Because I'm not. I believe differently and that's fine.

Yes, 100% this. 👏👏👏

Katyfour · 04/12/2024 13:24

They should just do nothing.

The rest of the team can warm up in the pride jerseys and he can warm up in his red Man U stuff.

INeedAnotherName · 04/12/2024 13:26

I'm waiting for the disability jerseys, surely that would shout out inclusiveness more than rainbow shite.

KnickerlessParsons · 04/12/2024 13:27

No-one in a football team (or any other professional sport) should be allowed to wear a rainbow anything. It's a political statement.

KnickerlessParsons · 04/12/2024 13:28

MagpiePi · 04/12/2024 13:21

Or.... women?

SuperfluousHen · 04/12/2024 13:28

Good for him 👏🏻

FKAT · 04/12/2024 13:29

Good for him. The FA bans all religious and political symbols on kits. They should read their own policy.

Jellycats4life · 04/12/2024 13:31

Why are they wearing rainbow jackets outside of Pride month anyway? Feels like no other cause gets a look in as Pride dominates most of the year.

hagchic · 04/12/2024 13:32

Anyone, of any belief system should not be forced to wear a symbol of another belief system that contravenes their own.

It really shouldn't be a big deal - it's not the main kit, it's just a warm up jacket. There should be no issue in him wearing a normal red one.

BruisedNeckMeat · 04/12/2024 13:34

I wish they’d all just play football.

oakleaffy · 04/12/2024 13:34

Well done 👏 to him!

The rainbow flag has been hijacked now with all the other “colours”
It’s lost it’s original meaning thanks to Stonewall.

All power to the Player.

laveritable · 04/12/2024 13:34

Good for him! I am NOT anti -(how anyone wants to live their lives) but do not "twist arms" for others to support you despite their beliefs!!!

TheWiseFish · 04/12/2024 13:36

It's his choice. It is football, no other virtue signalling messages need to be send .
On another side it's wasteful consumption, these rainbow jackets will end up in landfill somewhere. Wasteful spending contributing to global warming.
Fair play to him, he should not be forced to leave his comfort zone for any silly political rubbish .

WomensSports · 04/12/2024 13:37

As a bisexual woman I sincerely hope he stands his ground and that more do, too. I went to a national trust place a few weeks ago and there were bloody rainbow lanyards everywhere. It's all just paying lip service to diversity without any genuine shits about those of us who aren't heterosexual, and anyway, the whole rainbow Pride thing has been co-opted by woman-hating arseholes.

I am sad for the humble rainbow TBH, it never asked to be appropriated for this political bullshit.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 04/12/2024 13:46

I am not anti LGBTQ+
I also would not wear a rainbow shirt.
