Does everyone have a TV in their bedroom?

Lost the signal to the bedroom TV. Might be the storms I don't know but can't get any channels, and have now removed the TV.

Seems abit strange, but have got the radio instead and Spotify.

Not sure I'm going to bother replacing the bedroom TV, might just do without?

Has everyone got a bedroom TV?
What are your likes and dislikes about a TV in your room?
Anyone like me, not bothered to replace?

Not since I was living with my parents and only my son has one in his room for the PlayStation

SuperfluousHen · 04/12/2024 16:37

I don’t have a TV. Anywhere.
Haven’t for decades.

MaltipooMama · 04/12/2024 16:45

We do, when we got a big tv for the living room we didn't want to get rid of the other one so hooked it up onto the wall in the bedroom. When I was in my final trimester of pregnancy in 2023 it was great in the evenings when I was knackered and we'd head up there early and cuddle up with the dog and watch a film! Since our little one was born we don't ever use it anymore other than sometimes watching the football highlights on a Sunday morning with breakfast in bed while little one has his morning nap!

aintnospringchicken · 04/12/2024 16:52

Never had a TV in the bedroom

Mathsbabe · 04/12/2024 17:47

Only one TV in the house. I love Radio 4, music and podcasts so we have an Alexa in just about every room.

IceCreamMundae · 04/12/2024 17:53

I do and I LOVE it. In fact, we’ve just replaced our old one with a bigger, newer one so that I can watch it more. :-)

allfurcoatnoknickers · 04/12/2024 17:58

No TV in the bedroom, but I have a GIANT TV in the living room and I love it.

If either of us want to watch something in bed, we use laptop/ipad.

EverythingElseIsTaken · 04/12/2024 19:02

Nope. Never had TV in bedrooms. DC have never had them either.

Tut tut, don't you know you have to claim you have one small B&W TV that only gets switched on for the Queen's Speech on Christmas Day.

Nope. I’ve never had a tv in my bedroom and I don’t imagine that I ever will!

Same. It's a hotel thing not a home thing

Hazey19 · 04/12/2024 20:09

Nope we don’t. Not had one in my bedroom since I was a student like others have said. Don’t miss it xx

KinderChocolate · 04/12/2024 22:58

I don't but I did when I lived at home. It didn't have actual tv but I used it to play the Play Station and for Netflix.

ConstanceM · 04/12/2024 23:18

Became common in the 80s, 90s, but most people have ditched the bedroom telly. Although I've seen some houses on Rightmove with telly in every room, including the kitchen. Are cooking or watching Greg Wallace on cooking shows and or the News. The mind boggles. 1 telly, that's all you need and nothings on anyway

NewBootsWeather · 04/12/2024 23:39

We've got one. I'm also very beautiful & classy. I don't often slip into the slippery slope of watching TV in bed. My DH sometimes retires early to the bedroom and watches the TV for an hour to chill after a hard day. I only watch TV in bed if DH is away on business as I feel safe going upstairs early. We do realise it makes us sound common but my friends Angelica & Charles have said they often think about getting one and not telling people.

Yes, we've got a TV in the bedroom.

Thenversusnow · 04/12/2024 23:42

So weird as growing up as a teen in the 90’s, we all had a tv in our bedrooms 🤷🏻‍♀️parents, brother, sister and me, seems so ridiculous now!
We now have just one tv downstairs

HaddyAbrams · 04/12/2024 23:56

I haven't had one in my bedroom for at least 15 years. I don't find it comfy to watch tv laying in bed. I don't find it comfy to sit upright in my bed. So I wouldn't watch tv in there.

DramaAlpaca · 05/12/2024 00:05

No TVs in bedrooms here. It never occurred to us, we prefer reading in bed and have two TVs downstairs anyway.

I didn't let the DC have TVs in their bedrooms and to be fair they never asked for them. However, the moment DS1 turned 18 he bought himself a TV and installed it in his room Grin

echt · 05/12/2024 00:45

No TV in the bedroom, nor was DD allowed one.

To be fair I have my iPad now so while not a TV it's still a screen.

GoingUpUpUp · 05/12/2024 07:08

Yes we have one. It’s mostly used on weekend mornings to watch a film or something. We rarely watch it in the evenings because we have a really good tv downstairs. Also handy for when the kids are under the weather and I’m trying to WFH

abracadabra1980 · 05/12/2024 08:14

Yes, after 7 years without one and now living alone, I sometimes want to watch the news or YouTube in bed rather than on the sofa. I'm not a fan of 'watching' on smaller screens.
Saying that I would much rather keep radio/podcasts if I had to choose one or the other.

museumum · 05/12/2024 08:19

No tv but we have an iPad so can stream stuff in there if ill or just needing some time out.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 05/12/2024 08:23

So quite a lot of people are watching on ipads or laptops in their bedroom then... Just choosing not to have a "TV" screen to do so.

My Mum has a TV in her kitchen, she is a widow so lives alone and likes to watch light entertainment shows while cooking, she's not really the kind of person who sits down much and watches more in the kitchen than her sitting room. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. She doesn't have a TV in her bedroom though.

No I'd never watch anything on laptop/ipad/phone in bed either. I never take laptop/ipad into bedroom and only very rarely my phone (which I charge overnight elsewhere).

Pretty much never put tv on in hotel either. Though I do remember that when the kids were small they were very excited by the rare treat of tv in bed in a hotel.

It's not a particular stance, just not something I've ever wanted to do.

DilemmaDelilah · 05/12/2024 13:22

No TV in my bedroom, not even when I was ill in bed for weeks. DH has one in his bedroom. That's a small part of why I have my own bedroom!
