Does everyone have a TV in their bedroom?

Lost the signal to the bedroom TV. Might be the storms I don't know but can't get any channels, and have now removed the TV.

Seems abit strange, but have got the radio instead and Spotify.

Not sure I'm going to bother replacing the bedroom TV, might just do without?

Has everyone got a bedroom TV?
What are your likes and dislikes about a TV in your room?
Anyone like me, not bothered to replace?

No. The only time I've ever had a TV in my bedroom was about 20 years ago when I was ill and stuck in bed for a week. I see my bedroom as for sleeping in. If I want to wind down before nodding off, I will read for a bit.

Yerroblemom1923 · 04/12/2024 07:33

No. I don't agree with tvs in bedrooms. My daughter doesn't have one either and claims to be the "only one without one" in her friend group!

dontforgetme · 04/12/2024 07:33

No but I want one!

Troubledwords · 04/12/2024 07:40

Sort of, in that I don't own an actual television, but I do have a portable dvd player that mostly lives in the bedroom and I'll put a film on and watch that in bed. Usually when I'm tired but not sleepy, so I'll go lie in bed and watch a film that I've seen before so don't feel the need to fully pay attention to it.

KennyMousetits · 04/12/2024 07:40

We all have telly's in our bedrooms, they don't go on every day but so much better to be able to watch something at a normal size than on laptops/tablets.

One of life's greatest joys is getting in bed and watching a film when it's cold and rainy outside. And it saves on heating costs!

We also all read and listen to the radio too, choice is a marvellous thing.

No.

CamillaCanterbaum · 04/12/2024 07:42

My DH always said tv in bedrooms are passionkillers 😂 so I've not had a TV in my bedroom since I was 23!

DD doesn't have a TV either but probably will when she is older.

AlisonDonut · 04/12/2024 07:48

Not since I lived in bed sit type arrangements and in small flats. I'd happily not have a TV in the house let alone the bedroom. It's only really here for sports for my OH.

sugarapplelane · 04/12/2024 07:50

Nope. Never had a TV I the bedroom and never will. Only Tv is in the lounge

hexsnidgett · 04/12/2024 07:57

We used to, but didn't watch it in bed, there was a sofa too. Dh and I have different tv taste so would spend some evenings watching what we fancy in there.
Now we have a spare room, the telly is in there.

GameOfJones · 04/12/2024 07:58

Yes, but we very, very rarely turn it on. If it broke I wouldn't replace it. I don't actually like sitting in bed to watch TV so the only times it gets used is occasionally when DH is working away I'll let DDs get in bed with me and we'll watch something together as a treat. Mainly so I can doze and they are occupied!

MaidOfSteel · 04/12/2024 07:59

Always have had for as long as i can remember, and always will. I have mobility impairments, so I like to be able to watch telly wherever I can get comfy.

But I'd still have a bedroom telly, even if my health was good. I don't really care what anyone thinks. Pretty much everyone I know has a telly set in their bedrooms, so I guess they dont care either.

Yes. I replaced my ex husband with a big TV in the bedroom.

😂 that’s exactly what my husband would do if I left.

No tv in bedrooms here. I rarely watch tv, Dh does but the bedroom is where I go to escape his tv.

Used to have TV then took it down and never bothered again .Just didn't use it .Also hate breakfast in bed or even a cuppa .

crackfoxy · 04/12/2024 08:06

Nope. No TV

OldTinHat · 04/12/2024 08:06

I've never had a TV in my bedroom until my DPs came to stay and DF wanted a nap with the TV on (they used my room as its the only one with a double bed).

This is about 5yrs ago.

I got an unused TV from my attic room and plonked it on the chest of drawers opposite my bed, DF was very happy.

It's stayed there since and is used for three weeks every year - when IACGMOOH is on! I pop on the electric blanket and hunker down!

unsync · 04/12/2024 08:07

No. Its not great for sleep hygiene.

LivesinLondon2000 · 04/12/2024 08:08

Really diverse responses. I don’t have a tv in my bedroom or know anyone else who does either. But I completely agree watching tv in bed is cosy - I’ll watch tv on my iPad in bed if I’m ill and I have a heated blanket and loads of cushions on the sofa in the living room so it feels pretty much like I’m in bed

teatoast8 · 04/12/2024 08:08

No

evtheria · 04/12/2024 08:10

Never have and I really don't want one. DP had one as a kid, I think he doesn't mind either way.
Of course, I do have my phone in my room but to be honest I can't really watch much in bed, feel too sleepy as I've been pretty consistent with associating the room with 'going to bed'.

Chemenger · 04/12/2024 08:13

No, I had one many years ago when I lived in a shared house. I’ve never seen the attraction.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 04/12/2024 08:14

No bedroom TV here either.

Eldest DS (11) has a small one for his xbox so that he can play and we can still use the communal TV and it gets Disney plus too so that he can watch a series or a movie that we aren't wanting to watch.

I haven't had a bedroom TV since I was a teenager living at home.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 04/12/2024 08:14

No.

Ophy83 · 04/12/2024 08:14

TVs are downstairs, but we all have ipads so I could watch a movie in my room if I wanted to. Generally I only do if unwell or wrapping Christmas presents!

RedRiverShore5 · 04/12/2024 08:18

If we didn't have an upstairs TV, poor DH wouldn't be able to watch his cycling, motorsport or snooker because it's certainly not going on downstairs.
