Does everyone have a TV in their bedroom?

Lost the signal to the bedroom TV. Might be the storms I don't know but can't get any channels, and have now removed the TV.

Seems abit strange, but have got the radio instead and Spotify.

Not sure I'm going to bother replacing the bedroom TV, might just do without?

Has everyone got a bedroom TV?
What are your likes and dislikes about a TV in your room?
Anyone like me, not bothered to replace?

Can't think of anything worse. Never had a tv I where but the living room.

IrisApfel · 04/12/2024 08:26

Not a permanent one for years. We do have a spare TV upstairs that gets moved around depending on who needs it for sleepovers, illness etc.
DH had an operation this year and was in bed for a couple of weeks afterwards, he had the TV in our room during that time and it drove me mad at night. Falling asleep with a TV on makes me irrationally angry.

Nope. I’ve never had a tv in my bedroom and I don’t imagine that I ever will!

Same!

CautiousLurker1 · 04/12/2024 08:27

Nope. But I do have tablet devices that I sometimes watch TV on rather than read on the kindle app, so would be hypocritical to mock others who do. I just hate them as an object in a bedroom. Plus we have 4 tellies elsewhere plus two 100inch+ screen with projector units.

Plastictrees · 04/12/2024 08:28

When I reflect on my general dislike of TV’s, I think it probably stems from it being permanently on when I was growing up. It seemed to be the constant source of focus rather than any conversation. We do have a TV in the living room now, but it is never just on as background noise. We make a point of sitting down to watch something in particular.

BigDahliaFan · 04/12/2024 08:30

Nope, never had one. I quite like it as a treat when stay in a hotel. Very occasionally one of us will lie in bed to watch something on iPad.

But I can't imagine going to bed to watch a series. I'd rather be downstairs near the kettle.

ohtowinthelottery · 04/12/2024 08:34

We've had a tv in our bedroom for years. We only ever watch news programmes on it in the morning whilst we drink our morning coffee in bed. It never goes on at night.

Peony15 · 04/12/2024 08:35

Absolute no no.
DC weren't allowed them either in their bedrooms and have stuck to it as adults.
Only room that has a small TV' is the sitting room and as teenagers DC had one in their playroom for gaming.
Never liked TVs on display nor watch much, my parents were very strict on screen time.
Admittedly watch most things on laptop now.

SunnieShine · 04/12/2024 08:36

Yes, I love watching telly in bed, especially in winter with the fairy lights on.

Manchesterbythesea · 04/12/2024 08:36

We don’t. There’s only one wall it could go on and it wouldn’t really work.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 04/12/2024 08:39

I have a massive TV in the bedroom and one in the sitting room. Teenage kids also have them. I was never allowed a tv in my room growing up and always wanted one! We all seem to have good habits, such as turning it off before going to sleep. I miss it when I am away and don't have one.

EveryDayisFriday · 04/12/2024 08:39

We do. DH uses it more than me, I prefer the one downstairs. DH watches the bedroom one after sleeping after a night shift, its his half asleep chill out space. We do sometimes watch shows cuddled together in bed on a date night. Leaves the downstairs TV to the teens.

LuckysDadsHat · 04/12/2024 08:48

We have 3 tvs in the house. Lounge, bedroom and youngest childs bedroom. We watch them a lot in bed.

Mumsnet hate tvs in the bedroom. I don't know why but it seems the vast majority think it's unacceptable to have a tv in the bedroom but some will admit to watching it in the bedroom on a laptop/tablet etc......

Anonanonandon · 04/12/2024 08:49

I have never had a TV in my bedroom, nor have my children but I do use the radio and talking books.

bigkidatheart · 04/12/2024 08:52

I do, it's my sanctuary!

It's mainly for weekends or if DH is watching something downstairs I will go up early and watch a film or something on netflix.

On a sunday, he likes to watch Sunday morning TV and I can't stand it, so I stick a chick flick on or binge watch something on Netflix, or if I am pottering around putting washing away and tidying up.

reluctantbrit · 04/12/2024 09:00

Not since I was a teen living at home, never liked the idea when I moved out.

I read in bed. If I am ill I may get the ipad or laptop to watch but normally move downstairs for it.

twentysevendresses · 04/12/2024 09:06

Never had one in mine or my children's bedrooms. Never will.

Nourishinghandcream · 04/12/2024 09:07

No.
Used to have one but it was not watched so it was taken down and have never bothered since.

Don't have screens of any kind in the bedroom.

Starlight1979 · 04/12/2024 09:09

We do but the only time we put it on is if we decide to go up for an early night and we get cosy under the duvet and put a film on, or weekend mornings we will watch Saturday Kitchen or something similar whilst having a brew and toast in bed 😊

DisforDarkChocolate · 04/12/2024 09:11

Had one untill recently but we got rid of it because we never watched it. We're moving soon and we won't change this, the room is more relaxing without a TV.

usernother · 04/12/2024 09:13

Going to bed to watch telly is a little luxury to me and I really enjoy it.

midgetastic · 04/12/2024 09:14

No tv in bedroom
Never have had

Only time I could see it being useful would be when poorly

Bedroom for sleeping - better sleep health if you don't have tv on in there

irregularegular · 04/12/2024 09:15

No. I've never had the slightest desire for a bedroom tv. Or a kitchen tv.

Printedword · 04/12/2024 09:16

It’s never been something I’ve wanted to have and there’s no need to now streaming exists

blackcatsarethebestcats · 04/12/2024 09:16

Nope. Occasionally watch things on a tablet in bed but not at bedtime.
