Does everyone have a TV in their bedroom?

Lost the signal to the bedroom TV. Might be the storms I don't know but can't get any channels, and have now removed the TV.

Seems abit strange, but have got the radio instead and Spotify.

Not sure I'm going to bother replacing the bedroom TV, might just do without?

Has everyone got a bedroom TV?
What are your likes and dislikes about a TV in your room?
Anyone like me, not bothered to replace?

I only ever watch it in the morning, to keep an eye on the time as we are all getting ready.
I listen/watch BbC breakfast as getting ready.
Oddly we don't put the tv downstairs in the morning whilst eating breakfast!
We all have iPads and headphones so can watch anything anywhere really.

HappyMe6 · 03/12/2024 23:38

Yes we do and always have had.

notacooldad · 03/12/2024 23:38

I've never had a tv in my bedroom
My kids didn't either and now they are adults they don't have one in their bedroom either.
I'm not anti tv in the bedroom or anything, it's just something we haven't done

00deed1988 · 03/12/2024 23:38

No. My children do but that's more if they want to go and watch a movie in the day or something or a game (have an Xbox too) but rarely in the evening. I used to but for last 10 years or so I listen to audio books through my echo dot.

MadBlack · 03/12/2024 23:40

Nope. Never. Bedrooms for sleeping.

You don't need a signal yiu just need WiFi either a fire stick or smart tv that's how I do it in my bedroom.
Plus I do have an alexa if I wanna listen to radio or music

YellowTassels · 03/12/2024 23:43

Sec and sleeping only in our bedroom. I know I’d end up binging if I had one

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 03/12/2024 23:44

No TV in the bedroom, I don’t see the point. I watch TV in the lounge and then go to bed.

rockstarshoes · 03/12/2024 23:47

Yes smart tv so I can watch Netflix Amazon etc!

Sometimes get in bed early to watch TV if it's cold, breakfast TV in bed in the mornings with a coffee before work & sometimes I come upstairs to watch something on a Sunday afternoon while DH watches the bloody cricket!

WhatsitWiggle · 03/12/2024 23:48

No, not since 2004. I didn't as a child, did as a student and young adult as there wasn't always a suitable communal space.

But when I bought my first home with my then fiancee, there wasn't an aerial in the bedroom and we got used to not having a TV in there and I liked it as a screen-free space. Of course now you can have screens without the need for a TV.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/12/2024 23:48

Not any more, we used to but now there's iPads and podcasts etc it's a waste of space.

Obviously it suits some people, nothing wrong if it does but I guess it's less common than it used to be.

Waterboatlass · 03/12/2024 23:52

No, can't see the appeal

TwinklyNight · 03/12/2024 23:52

Yes. Dh doesn't watch it but I do, usually I do when I'm unwell and stuck in bed though.

Almostwelsh · 03/12/2024 23:57

Yes. I replaced my ex husband with a big TV in the bedroom.

TortolaParadise · 03/12/2024 23:58

yes

Floralnomad · 03/12/2024 23:59

We have a large bedroom and a 42” tv on it connected to Sky Stream , how else would you be able to watch cricket from around the world in the night ?

StaunchMomma · 04/12/2024 00:00

I used to when I was much younger but I really don't think they help with sleep.

I'd rather read and drop off easier.

JobMatch3000 · 04/12/2024 00:00

I'm house hunting at the moment and it's one thing I've noticed from quite a few of the listings - not only in the Primary bedroom but the kid's bedroom's too. It's certainly not a thing in our house!

ToBeOrNotToBee · 04/12/2024 00:02

God no.
I'd never have a TV in the bedroom. It's the worst thing you can do for your sleep.
My bedroom is for sleeping, sex and resting.

30percentoffatCosta · 04/12/2024 00:02

No TV in my house at all. The kids & I watch the odd thing on an iPad but other than that we're an audiobooks & reading family.

Tanktanktank · 04/12/2024 00:17

Nope
but I do like to watch Graham Norton on my tablet on Fridays when it’s on in bed.

I have an odd thing going on where if I’ve missed it I don’t want to watch it, I only want to watch it when it’s aired on BBC1. - but I do watch lots of other things on catch up on the TV in the lounge.

HooMoo · 04/12/2024 00:19

No

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 04/12/2024 00:38

Nope. On the very rare occasion when I want to watch TV in bed (only when ill), I have my phone.

Moonshine5 · 04/12/2024 00:39

Nope

Thunderpants88 · 04/12/2024 00:40

Nope. And my kids won’t be allowed while they live here either
