Does everyone have a TV in their bedroom?

Lost the signal to the bedroom TV. Might be the storms I don't know but can't get any channels, and have now removed the TV.

Seems abit strange, but have got the radio instead and Spotify.

Not sure I'm going to bother replacing the bedroom TV, might just do without?

Has everyone got a bedroom TV?
What are your likes and dislikes about a TV in your room?
Anyone like me, not bothered to replace?

No - never have, never will - but I’m not judging anyone. It’s just not for me, I don’t think it helps sleep. I try not to use screens in bed at all.

Olive567 · 04/12/2024 04:57

No, what strange assumption that this is the norm

FlatErica · 04/12/2024 04:57

No, I don't, I try to practice good sleep hygiene in bedroom.

Muthaofcats · 04/12/2024 05:00

Yuck no

BCBird · 04/12/2024 05:09

No. Never would. When I gad a room as a student yes.

mrspresents · 04/12/2024 05:23

We've all got tv's in our bedrooms- mine only goes on when I'm sorting my wardrobes out, do have never turned theirs on, they use their pc's instead.

Prettytiles · 04/12/2024 05:24

No I prefer no TV in my bedroom. I always regret this when on an endometriosis flare though.

Expo23 · 04/12/2024 05:35

As many others I do not. My bedroom is for sleeping. I had a TV when I was a teenager/student and wanted to watch different things to siblings. However, I know if I did have a TV in my room I'd be way too tempted on a cold Sunday morning to bunker down. I may also be tempted to put it on when I go to bed too. I think it would be a disruption.

ForGreyKoala · 04/12/2024 05:47

No. I did many years ago but haven't for over 20 years and I can't say I miss it. I read when I go to bed and am quite happy to watch TV in the living room only.

PrioritisePleasure24 · 04/12/2024 05:49

No we don’t. We have one tv and that’s in the lounge:living room. No kids. Have phones if we wanna watch anything in bed but for me it’s for sleeping!

cariadlet · 04/12/2024 05:56

Never had a tv in the bedroom. We have one tv in the house and that's downstairs.
In the bedroom, I read or listen to audio books and podcasts on my phone.

Natsku · 04/12/2024 05:59

Never had a tv in my bedroom, not conducive to sleep.
If I'm ill and staying in bed during the day I take my laptop to my room and watch on there.

GroovyChick87 · 04/12/2024 06:03

Yes we do. I usually go to bed about 9pm. If there's something I want to watch I'll watch it in bed rather than sitting up downstairs.

MixedCouple2 · 04/12/2024 06:09

I did when I was 10 - 16 worst thing ever.
Now in my late 30s I don't own a TV at all

ChessorBuckaroo · 04/12/2024 06:09

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/12/2024 23:31

We do. Disabled husband, works full time. Done in by 7pm. Eat dinner in bed too. So, shoot us.

That sounds very cosy.

In regards to the OP's question I use my tablet for TV in bed.

AmberAlert86 · 04/12/2024 06:18

My DH wants telly in the bedroom, I told him we will have to divorce first! That's one room where I can enjoy peace and quiet. We have TVs in both rooms downstairs, that's too much for me as it is. Sometimes I feel like getting rid of telly completely would be the best!
(I am not against other people having tvs in bedrooms, just us)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/12/2024 06:20

Kind of love tbe"oh no I don't have a TV.... I watch on tablet/ipad/laptoo/phone"

Reminds me of the whole "I don't watch TV /don't have one at all BUT" comments.

Gemütlich81 · 04/12/2024 06:24

we don’t have a TV downstairs only upstairs in the bedroom. We maybe watch something twice a week before going to sleep. It is mainly used if we are unwell and in bed with a cold or we are having a very lazy day at the weekend.

Itsonlybridgetagain · 04/12/2024 06:26

Yes I do but the only time I watch it is when I’m changing the bed or sorting out laundry. If it broke I probably wouldn’t replace it

Hayley1256 · 04/12/2024 06:27

I don't, if I want to watch something whilst in bed or getting getting ready I just use my tablet

JaninaDuszejko · 04/12/2024 06:31

No. But we have 2 sitting rooms each with a TV so don't have to be in the same room as DC when they are watching something I don't want to watch. I can see how if you just have 1 sitting room with a family you would want a room with more privacy. But I think it's fallen out of fashion because we have more portable screens these days.

The people we bought our house from had a TV in every room except the bathrooms! Even when their DC lived with them there were only 4 people in the house so they had more TVs than people which seemed slightly excessive.

ExquisiteDecorations · 04/12/2024 06:38

Yes, always have had in this house, we don't all always want to watch the same thing at the same time and don't have space for a second one downstairs. I don't believe it makes any difference to sleep habits unless you let it and am not uptight about bedrooms being for sleep and sex only, I use the room for exercise, ironing, crafting, second living room whatever. Neither of us goes to sleep watching it, DH never uses it unless he's ill, it's just me and sometimes one of the adult DC, my usage is mainly when I'm ironing.

DustyLee123 · 04/12/2024 06:39

No. Won’t have one in there now.

GretchenWienersHair · 04/12/2024 06:40

Nope. I’m not a fan of TVs in bedrooms (although I’m aware this makes no sense as I still watch stuff using the laptop…)

TubeScreamer · 04/12/2024 06:45

I do. Bought during Covid when I sometimes (often) wanted time away from others. Rarely use it now, but I don’t actually watch much tv downstairs either - not for smug moral reasons, just can’t seem to find much of interest these days.
