Does everyone have a TV in their bedroom?

Lost the signal to the bedroom TV. Might be the storms I don't know but can't get any channels, and have now removed the TV.

Seems abit strange, but have got the radio instead and Spotify.

Not sure I'm going to bother replacing the bedroom TV, might just do without?

Has everyone got a bedroom TV?
What are your likes and dislikes about a TV in your room?
Anyone like me, not bothered to replace?

No. Never have and never will. DS and DD had them in their rooms from age 13. Both left home now.

PlantDoctor · 04/12/2024 00:42

No, when I get into bed I'm ready to pass out until morning! If I want to watch something I can grab a blanket on the sofa to be comfy

No TV in my house at all. The kids & I watch the odd thing on an iPad but other than that we're an audiobooks & reading family.

You know you can have a Tv and still read books .

QueenBitch666 · 04/12/2024 01:02

Had one installed during long term illness without any long detrimental effects. It's there if and when I need it.
Lots of negative judgment on this post. Have a word with yourselves 🙄

No never had one in the bedroom and don't want one

Mummy2a2yearold · 04/12/2024 01:10

Yes, i can't sleep without the TV on. Only since living alone. Otherwise feel like im always on high alert for noises

ApolloandDaphne · 04/12/2024 01:13

I've never had a TV in my bedroom. If I want to watch something in bed I use my iPad.

Wherehavetheyallgone · 04/12/2024 01:16

No TV in our bedroom. Would just feel unnatural! An adult DC has screen in bedroom for gaming or Netflix, but that's it upstairs. Downstairs TV used a few times a year only, so we're not big TV watchers anyway.

Lurleene · 04/12/2024 01:24

We don't have one in our bedroom, but I love watching telly in bed at a hotel. It's a treat, even if its an episode of Bullseye from 1985! But it wouldn't be a treat if I could do it every night at home.

Benefit of being an adult. You want to watch TV . Do it. You don't, then don't. You're an adult you can make that choice. You're not murdering anyone, if you want to get in bed and watch TV stop asking for permission, just do it if it makes you happy.

gerener · 04/12/2024 01:26

No, we only watch TV when dcs have gone to bed, and we've had a baby or child in our room for the past 6 years, so it would wake them. I fantasise about having my own bedroom (separate from DH) where I'd have my own TV, bookshelves and a big space for crafts.

BlackChunkyBoots · 04/12/2024 02:11

I had a second hand B&W from the age of about 13 in 1990, then I had one when I was married in the early 2000s, but as pp have said tablets have taken over that need. DD's older cousin had a tv in her room and she never slept properly, so we decided not to get one for DD. She's grown up now and watches Netflix on her laptop.

oobedobe · 04/12/2024 02:15

when we upgrade our living room tv to a larger one we move the old one to our bedroom. it's on a tripod stand which is pretty handy as can be moved around if needed (only 42" size).

I love to read at bedtime so TV is not watched at night, I use it to do youtube workouts (large bedroom!) usually, DH sometimes puts it on at the weekend.

Could do without but also can be useful.

Kids do not have TVs, eldest watches stuff on her laptop, though we recently put another TV in the basement so now we are a 3 tv house which seems at lot!

Wingingitbestican · 04/12/2024 02:27

Yes, we have always had a tv in the bedroom. It’s a 65” and it’s mounted on the wall. We live in a bungalow and I normally take a cuppa back to bed in the morning and put the tv on. Our bedroom is nearer the kitchen than the lounge.

JingleB · 04/12/2024 02:31

No, just one in the living room. I would never have one in the bedroom (unless seriously ill and bedridden, maybe) because otherwise DH would want the bloody thing on all the time.

I think it’s fine to have a bedroom telly if you can be moderate about it. DH seems to think if a telly exists, it must be turned on at all times.

Then he complains he doesn’t have the attention span to read anymore… no shit, Sherlock.

(I am in a glass house on the moderation thing, I admit. It’s 2:30am and I’ve been reading my book for 3 hours. It was exciting, I needed to finish it!)

terracottacountryfarm · 04/12/2024 03:02

We used to have a tv bed until we changed beds to a normal one - were supposed to get a tv to pop at the end of the bed but never got around to it. I much prefer it now as it has made the bedroom feel separate

Feelingstrange2 · 04/12/2024 03:11

No, we don't.

We have one in my Dad's bedroom. He rarely uses it tho.

I very rarely watch TV but my husband and Dad watch a variety of stuff from things like netflix

RickiRaccoon · 04/12/2024 03:17

No. I don't like the idea of a TV in the bedroom. I do have a laptop if I really want to watch anything.

SnoopySantaPaws · 04/12/2024 03:19

No, I don't.

For a whole host of reasons, but not because I have a stick up my arse, which seems like the most common reason!!

Just see how you go

Codlingmoths · 04/12/2024 03:30

I couldn’t live with a man who wanted a tv in the bedroom and will never let my kids have one while they’re in my house.

Nat6999 · 04/12/2024 03:33

Yes, I have always had a tv in my bedroom, I have ME/CFS & go to bed early to watch television.

WWY · 04/12/2024 04:02

Yes. Couldn't be without it. I don't always want to watch what others are watching in the living room.
I love being cosy in bed watching a film. To solve the signal problem get a firestick.

User964253 · 04/12/2024 04:40

No, in the very rare event that I would want to watch TV in bed Id just watch on a laptop.

growinguptobreakingdown · 04/12/2024 04:45

We do.Never watch it in bed together but I sometimes go to bed early and watch something. When I am ill I watch it. We both tend to read before bed.DD15 sometimes likes getting into bed with me to watch a film.

superplumb · 04/12/2024 04:47

Yep I do. Always have
I need to escape occasionally and watch what I want. Also helps if I'm unwell and want to watch my programmes in bed.
