Have you bought a bra this year?

Just that really.

I haven't. Wondered if that is the norm. I find the good ones too expensive and I don't really know my size any more, so just choose Medium.

How often do you buy a new everyday bra?

@PickAChew M&S, Kari Tra, Under Armour are brands I wear. It's very common for bras that don't have clasps and are sports bras to be in s, m, l.

But this whole thread was supposed to be about how often women replace them and if I should do too.
I start by saying I don't even know my size anymore so just buy M, but thanks to a bunch of posters who have poor reading comprehension they derailed the thread saying I was a man. Nice.

You could just look up my username if you had big concerns.

Mumsnet isn't going to survive long term if every thread is so horrible for the poster. No one will ever dare post. Shame as there's been so much good here over the years.

Please don't be upset, I didn't get involved but I did tell you that I'd been suspicious too. It's just the sort of thread that a troll would start (there used to be loads of them until people got more aware of them). Usually about underwear, or kids going to the toilet; lovely. So the fact that you said medium instead of say 34b put people on alert. The constant derailing is really tedious. If people are suspicious they should just report.
Anyway, like you, I have fewer traditional bras these days, and more and more pull on croptop styles that come in s,m l.
I get mine from boody. Love them.

I’ll add my post back, sorry OP, there was a sort of similar thread about bras a week or so ago that I think I got deleted, everyone’s a bit wary!

Probably 6/7 a year, in just the last few weeks I’ve had 3 underwires break loose. I find they just don’t last well. I don’t know if cup size makes a difference? I wear a 30HH

I don’t know why my underwires keep breaking free :(

Most common reasons would be machine washing or incorrect size.

Ive bought 20 this year!😃
10 boob squashing sports bras from Primark and 10 everyday sports bras.
Sounds like alot but Im a sweaty pit person so tend to wear then wash straight away so this way I dont have to wash them too often.
The Primark ones were obviously cheap and the everyday ones were reduced in a sale from £35 to £4 so I would of been nuts not to stock up!

(I also have 10 crop top sleep bras and 10 underwire 'posh' bras....which is a crazy amount for somebody who wishes she didnt have to bother at all!)😅

Probably machine wash then, which I do with most of mine. Happy the size is right, I’m at bravissimo getting fitted at least once a year.

PattyDuckface · 03/12/2024 07:33

Nah, they are bras. I wear them to support my boobs. They aren't crop tops. I run in them. They are sports bras.

Gtf now with this nonsense and stop wasting my time with absolutely insane semantics

If you had put half as much effort into your OP as you have into ranting about people feeling a bit wary of your fairly cryptic OP, then you might have got what you now say you wanted from the thread.

We don't know you from Adam. Or Steve. All we see of you is the words that you post.

Seeline · 03/12/2024 09:16

I've bought 6 this year - because I've finally found a comfortable 38K that fits AND comes in more than black/white/beige. At over £40 each, they are expensive, but so comfortable.
DD has unfortunately inherited the family boobs - she technically measures 26FF. Apparently, when you are a minute size 8, you don't need to wear a bra unless you are a 26AA. She has to go up to a 28", which is too big, but no other option. And her bras also cost a fortune, because no one that size needs an F cup 🙄

NoiseDrama · 03/12/2024 09:40

I have bought 6 recently of the stretchy crop type ones that come in a pack of 3 from primark. They are size medium. I am defo a woman 😂

they are actually really comfy for just mooching about the house amd for everyday wear

I bought little padded bags from Lakeland for machine washing bras. That helps protect the wires. Don't know if they still do them, but I expect they are available somewhere.

yogasam · 03/12/2024 09:51

I go to Bravissimo, have a fitting and buy two or three news ones every couple of years. I have bought some this year, back in the summer, but I don't think I bought any in 2023.

hobbitum · 03/12/2024 09:56

DownWhichOfLate · 02/12/2024 22:01

You bought “medium”. Yeah, righto you’re a woman 🙄

😂 To be fair to OP, if they're not a troll, I started buying Boody crop bras, that fortunately do come in S/M/L sizing and I hope I never have to go back! No idea what my measurements are now.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 03/12/2024 09:57

I’ve bought 2 bralettes which are basically non under wired bras. One with lace and one without both nude colour and both M&S.

Previously I did buy underwired bras.

hobbitum · 03/12/2024 09:59

Sorry OP thought I'd read the whole thread and it hadn't loaded. Appreciate you're not trolling!

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 03/12/2024 09:59

I buy a new bra every couple of years. Expensive ones properly fitted and hand washed and drip dried last forever.

DownWhichOfLate · 03/12/2024 10:06

Sorry, it just seemed rather dodgy. But I still don’t get the generic sizing - so for example, someone on this thread said their daughter was a 26F or similar, so they’d be a small? But I’m a 30d, also a small? Not sure we would need the same measurements to provide support?!

WalterdelaMare · 03/12/2024 10:12

I bought 2 Bravissimo Millie bras earlier this year, liked them so much, I’ve bought several more. I buy sports bras frequently as I seem to be quite hard on them. I like zip up ones and quite often burst the zip open.

I also like a soft crop top and buy them often from M&S.

Thank you- I’ll google, will be worth me buying!!

Shizzlestix · 03/12/2024 11:43

No choice due to big weightloss. I’ve gone from a 42C to a 36B so I bought a few new t-shirt style ones, plus a strapless for a jumpsuit and a push up because I’ve dropped a cup size. I’m a fan of Boob or bust, the measurements are very accurate. I’m still losing weight, had to go to the second clip recently.

KnittedCardi · 03/12/2024 12:21

I think people who can buy S/M/L are very lucky.

If you have a small back and big tits, these sizes don't fit, ever. I am a 32H. Small and medium won't fit over my boobs, the large will be loose in the back, but still won't accommodate the tits.

I'm a Millie fan too. Stretchy lace is great.

Really? I wash mine in the machine, pay about £15 for two and a few are older than my adult son.

I buy six new bras every six months.

Deathraystare · 03/12/2024 14:16

@NeverDropYourMooncup

Ah now you see I never got on with 'front loaders'. I tried some Amazon ones and Marks & Spencers too. I prefer the pull on ones.

Deathraystare · 03/12/2024 14:21

@TheShellBeach

That looks like a cheaper version of the Triumph DOreen! Not a criticism. I used to wear them and the M&S dupe. Very comfy. I preferred the one with cotton in it.
