Have you bought a bra this year?

Just that really.

I haven't. Wondered if that is the norm. I find the good ones too expensive and I don't really know my size any more, so just choose Medium.

How often do you buy a new everyday bra?

@mitogoshigg read the thread

Getting really pissed off now with people suggesting I am a man. Really pissed off.

She’s right though - you said ‘bra’ when ‘bralette’ or even ‘crop top’ would have been more accurate. It doesn’t take much for a thread to be derailed / misunderstood so it’s no good blaming pp’s ‘reading comprehension’ when we comprehended all too well what you’d written.

BigDahliaFan · 03/12/2024 07:31

Yes 4 M&S non wired as breast clinic told me to stop wearing wired ones. I might treat myself to a new wired one I'll treat well for nights out not ever6 day wear as the non wired aren't brilliant for shape. I miss my up and at em underwired boobs o much.

I always get a fitting and buy three new ones each January. I've lost loads of weight recently and had to go for it last week! Also an expensive big boob owner 😩

That's not a bad idea actually. I hate bra shopping so tend to buy two or three if I can find a good fit, then wait till they start sagging and I can't bear them any more.
A yearly bra overhaul is not a bad plan. Thank you!

Nah, they are bras. I wear them to support my boobs. They aren't crop tops. I run in them. They are sports bras.

Gtf now with this nonsense and stop wasting my time with absolutely insane semantics

Yes, a few. I went for my first proper fitting (in my 50s) and my size changed massively.

2weekwait · 03/12/2024 07:34

Yes I have brought a few this year, I looked at the crop top style but fear they wouldn’t fit me so never bothered. They look so comfortable!

The bras I buy range from 35-50 as I’m an odd size and can only buy from a few shops. I would probably buy more if they weren’t so damn expensive

Deathraystare · 03/12/2024 07:38

Yep. A three pack of those pull on crop top type bras from Sainsbury's. Can't remember the price - £18??? Not as flattering as normal bras but I cannot cope with normal bras now. All about the comfort. I don't run (perish the thought!) so it doesn't matter.

generlinkcanada · 03/12/2024 07:39

I understand what you mean about the price of good bras – they can definitely be on the expensive side. As for the size, it’s easy to lose track over time, so choosing Medium is a safe bet if you’re unsure. Personally, I try to replace my everyday bras every 6 to 12 months, depending on wear and tear. The elastic tends to lose its stretch over time, so I find it’s good to refresh them periodically for comfort and support. How about you?

Front fastening ones from Amazon.

A bloody revelation in comfort and support - no itchy back or annoying hooks to trash the rest of the washing <glares at DP>, just smooth, proper support and a doddle to put on when half asleep.

Could you post the link to this bra please? Might give it a go 😊

unmemorableusername · 02/12/2024 22:34

You are supposed to replace your bras every 3 months. They lose their elasticity very quickly. You should have a proper fitting once a year.

This is surely capitalist brainwashing?! I’ve just replaced my 5 year old bras that still fit fine but were looking worse for wear. I wouldn’t buy any item of clothing that needed replacing after 3 months… you know that every bra you’ve ever owned probably still exists somewhere in the world right now?!

How wasteful.

SharpOpalNewt · 03/12/2024 07:51

Quite. I've never had a fitting in my life. I'm a grown woman who can tell if my clothes or bras fit me or if they are worn out and need replacing. I don't need a busybody with a measuring tape telling me I should wear something two sizes smaller that hoiks my breasts under my chin.

SantaToSSD · 03/12/2024 07:56

Yes, I've bought 2 or 3, very ordinary, non under wired ones from M&S. I've finally decided to go for health and comfort over enhancement and padding. But, before that, I could easily go years without buying a new bra.

StormingNorman · 03/12/2024 07:57

Nope. I’ve been losing weight and not going to bother replacing them until my news boob size is stable.

DonaldJohnTrump · 03/12/2024 07:57

Not yet, but if I keep eating all those McDonald Supersize Happy Meals (with some great toys!) I may have to!

Nah, I'm only kidding, I wear Men's Shapewear - it sort of squeezes things back where they should be in the first place!

PressedOnion · 03/12/2024 08:01

I get you OP. I've just ordered some from Boody because there was an offer on and they are supposed to be comfortable - they are size Medium. I'm hoping they are comfy because I'm fed up with the M&S ones I've got currently. I've got a skin tag that sits just under the band and it can be bloody painful sometimes.

If anyone has ideas for getting rid of skin tags when you're a wuss I'm all ears.

Nobody wants to think about your orange moobs, Donald Angry

RedRiverShore5 · 03/12/2024 08:03

Yes, I had a clear out as a lot of mine were old or didn't fit properly so found some in M&S I liked and stocked up over the year from the sale or Sparks offers, bought about 6-8, cost £10-£20 each. Before this I hadn't bought any for several years as the ones I liked years ago got discontinued.

Seeline · 03/12/2024 08:16

@Pat888 your bra riding up at the back suggests that the band is too big. Generally a band should be your dress size plus 20. So if you're a size 10, your bra wouldn't be more than a 30". It is the band that gives the support , not the shoulder straps. Have a look at the calculator on the boob or bust website.

DelilahBucket · 02/12/2024 22:04

Yes. I have to shop at the likes of Bravissimo but I'd put some weight on and was really fed up of not being able to fit in my bras. It made a huge difference to how I felt in my clothes.
Most women are wearing the wrong bra size, even more so those who have been measured in the likes of M&S. I highly recommend Boob or Bust as a starting point. Unfortunately all the cheap bra places don't tend to cater for proper bra sizes. A 36C is not a common size like these places would have you think and having at least a 36 back for anything bigger than a D cup isn't right either 🙄

I'm 36C, occasionally 36B, 34D doesn't fit properly, I measure just over 35 under bust, I'm tall, size 14 and large boned, most women on here seem to measure about 30-32 under bust.

RedRiverShore5 · 03/12/2024 08:27

Just did boob or bust and was 36C so correct size bought, we are not all in the wrong size at 36.

Tarkan · 03/12/2024 08:27

I've bought 3 this year but the one I wore most before decided to betray me with the underwire so it was a much needed purchase. Decided to get different colours and styles for various outfits. Still need a new sports bra for Pilates but I keep forgetting to buy one.

I said it wasn't common. I didn't say no one is that size.

I know. I measure about 33 and am in a 34DD. Apparently I can't be that size but my bras fit perfectly. When people have my measurements on here they tell me I must be a 32 Z and am doing it all wrong. When I can't even get a 32 across my back even in a massive cup size or my breasts are wafting about in a huge cup. I can't fasten a 36 in some M&S bras. And I'm not paying two or three times as much for a bra that doesn't fit when there is a £10 range in TU that fits perfectly every time.

PressedOnion · 03/12/2024 08:48

My band size is 32 according to boob or bust, but a 32 feels far too tight for me to wear, so I go for a so-called sister size in a 34.
