Isn't he on wife number 4? This latest one 21 years younger. Maybe he's upset women of a certain (his) age just don't find him attractive.

Why would that bother him? The younger model is a thing, is it not? Personally I think he should have kept his counsel, but that does not seem to be the thing to do anymore.

OnTheBounce · 01/12/2024 09:49

'Middle class women' = 'females I'm intimidated by, who are usually awkwardly silenced by faux-jaunty references to my cock, unlike working class women who dutifully roar with laughter like good girls, unless they're frigid or something'.

'Of a certain age' = 'women I consider too old to fuck, which is, by the way, the ultimate burn'

Clearinguptheclutter · 01/12/2024 09:50

We can only hope he gets permanently cancelled

20 years too late but better late than never

always thought he was vile.

BBC have serious questions to answer. I commented on a similar thread I’m really shocked that Kirsty Wark complained about him in 2011- surely she has a fair amount of clout at the bbc? (Not that you need clout to be listened to) and yet here we are 13 years later. He must have both felt he was untouchable and also actually been untouchable.

SorrowsPrayers · 01/12/2024 09:50

The fucker! What a lack of insight to his current predicament!
His statement digs his hole deeper.

Hoppinggreen · 01/12/2024 09:51

I met the Twat once
Awful man, I told him not to F ing speak to me like that and yes I am a MC middle aged women. We tend to be the ones who are able to stand up to these Dickheads

MarliaST · 01/12/2024 09:52

Harrumphhhh · 01/12/2024 09:26

I was actually just thinking the same. Several presenters will be feeling rather tense right now.

I agree. When does humour and innuendo become offensive?

Alison Hammond jumping on the back of Dylan wasn't appropriate

user1471538283 · 01/12/2024 09:52

@StressedLP1 - You are a star! I'm howling!

I think I can say categorically for all women not just "women of a certain age and class" like me no one has made any sexual remarks or innuendos to you or about you Greg double g. He has now alienated the main audience for that show. He is shitting himself because he's up against these powerful, successful women. I bet he's hocked up as well.

Hoppinggreen · 01/12/2024 09:53

HaveYouActuallyDoneAnyWashingThisWeekMum · 01/12/2024 09:16

Yeah he’s totally delusional

If i had to guess I would say around 3 or less

PotOfViolas · 01/12/2024 09:26

Is Rod Stewart a middle class woman of a certain age then?

Tbf I do look like Rod Stewart before I’ve put my make up on and done my hair!

Just read this and thought he may as well have signed a confession in blood - what a colossal twat. But we knew that anyway.

I knew people at one of his factory visits for his stupid shouty TV program, and after he left there was uproar at the awful, sexual way he'd spoken to staff every time the filming stopped. It was rightly pointed out to management that if he'd been a member of staff he'd have been sacked, but instead they all just stood there gurning at him while women were made to feel incredibly uncomfortable.

My mums best friend was HR at one of the factories features, similar complaints and staff refusing to be in the same area as him in day 2 of filming.

Trying to line himself up as a hero for men who hate us. Depressing but probably his best career move at this point.

I’m afraid so.

His lawyer’s Sunday breakfast has just been ruined 😀

Not if s/he charges triple time on a Sunday.

WillowTit · 01/12/2024 09:55

did he cancelled from the factory programme? there were allegations from that werent there?

midgetastic · 01/12/2024 09:55

When does it become offensive?

When people feel it's targeted at them personally ? When people feel it's being used to intimidate?

Comedy is difficult but think how different it feels when a comedian takes the piss out of themselves as opposed to other people

blackheartsgirl · 01/12/2024 09:58

Honestly he’s such a twat. I showed my son that video of the contestant with the lemon tart (who is also asd)and aged 25, likes a dark and good joke, also a parent and he was shocked. His words bloody hell mum that man really hates women doesn’t he, what a bell end 😂.

thank God Greg (minus the extra g lolz) doesn’t speak for every man.

his career definitely gone down the shitter!

LivinInYourBigGlassHouseWithAView · 01/12/2024 09:58

Wow, heard him on the news this morning when I woke up.
Doubling down and looking to be a 'hero' for misogynists who hate women, especially women who know their worth and won't be silenced about it.

I've never liked him or his arrogance. This just confirms what I sensed about him.

Can you explain? Are you suggesting that GW is not offensive?

As the mother of young adults, the minute this type of creep is eradicated/cancelled the better.

Even more so when they are funded by the taxpayer in a public funded institution that has lost its grip on reality.

Happyher · 01/12/2024 10:00

Middle class middle aged women are probably the most confident at calling him out.

MarzipanAndFrenchFancies · 01/12/2024 10:01

In my current job I work for a sexist penis who loves a willy wave. He is the CEO, so the best thing I can do is find another job.

Sexism is real and most of the time women put up with it because of the power imbalance. But, the behaviour that is bring attributed to Greg Wallace has never been acceptable.

Not at any point of the 20 years I have been in the workplace.

sinckersnack · 01/12/2024 10:01

I really don't understand how the casting for these shows works. Greg was never in industry, has no charm or insight or or ability to connect with people - so why was he the first choice for the factory programme? And Masterchef- why, why, why? John and Marcus and Monica all seemed to do fine on the days he wasn't there - and I can think of ten presenters who would do the job better.. so why, year after year?
And there have been loads of complaints - and yet???? There's something wrong at a much deeper level than just one twat.

ThatSchoolOfficeLady · 01/12/2024 10:01

When you're in a hole numbnuts, stop digging 😂

MiddleClassWomanOfACertainAge · 01/12/2024 10:04

mids2019 · 01/12/2024 09:38

I am not trying to defend Greg but I have worked in work places where there is a lot of sexualized banter from both sexes which seems to be just cultural really. I found it a bit unpleasant but there was no changing it. Maybe Greg is in a misguided fashion thing to make this a class thing? He might say on certain jobs there is an entrenched culture of innuendo just being part of the banter (I think Any and Dec are being brought up on this).

I think the dig was aimed at Kirsty who he probably viewed as straight laced and humourless and she thought him a bit of a dick. I find it strange that he seems to have no concept of boundaries though and maybe he can't take verbal or non verbal cues that he is crossing a line?

Yes, but by the looks of things he was told that people found it uncomfortable, warned him and he still carried on.
I think in normal workplaces off-colour jokes/misplaced humour shouldn't be instant grounds for dismissal. Different places have different ideas of what is appropriate and some people will always misjudge the boundary (I had a really apologetic email from someone once over a comment they made I didn't think was a big deal but which they later regretted). A normal, decent human reaction to being told that you have unintentionally been making large numbers of people upset/uncomfortable with your sexual bants is to stop the sexual bants. Not to keep doing it - that kind of suggests making others uncomfortable is part of the point. Witch hunts do happen sometimes. I don't think this is one of those times.

I think he comes across as having a very bullying. entitled personality.

Carpedimum · 01/12/2024 10:06

He’s utterly deluded. Yes intelligent women who are old enough and confident enough not to tolerate any shit will call you out on your unacceptable behaviour.
