Gads. He’s just so unpleasant and odd. I feel sorry for the poor soul who’s tasked with trying to rescue his mainstream career.
Years ago, a friend and I were lost in deepest Putney. We stopped off for a glass of wine and a snack at a big glossy gastropub we found. I was raging when I realised “Wallace and Co” meant Gregg Wallace. Put me right off my ploughman’s.

Losingthetimber · 01/12/2024 09:26

I just watched his video and it was a very very bad decision of his. Very bad indeed.

he should have said I don’t recognise these complaints, I’m so sorry if anyone felt I caused offence, I’ve worked with thousands and never had an issue, happy to support any investigation. . Or just stayed silent.

but “a handful of middle aged celeb women”. Um no gregg, it goes much further, and compounding the issue by making a sexist classist and ageist comment was never going go to help.

Can't stand Gregg Wallace and think he is a creepy, misogynist prick.
But ... I gave up watching Bake Off because of the constant, stupid, puerile sexual innuendo. Why is that not subject to the same scrutiny?

I was actually just thinking the same. Several presenters will be feeling rather tense right now.

PotOfViolas · 01/12/2024 09:26

Is Rod Stewart a middle class woman of a certain age then?

billysboy · 01/12/2024 09:27

a vile human being , digging his hole deeper and deeper , who has enabled / allowed all of his behavior to continue , as always with people like him its never his fault

itwasonlyhalloween10minutesago · 01/12/2024 09:27

I mean he has a great career on GB News ahead of him I suppose...

MrsKwazi · 01/12/2024 09:28

As per a pp, Mastertwat!

I agree. He could have made a much better job of apologising. Now it just looks like he's trying to appeal to misogynists

OdeToBarney · 01/12/2024 09:29

Nice bit of victim blaming and DARVO by the pigg that is Gregg Wallace.

So, the women who are in a secure enough position financially and socially, and are old enough to have developed the balls to call this shit out, then? Doesn't mean other women are happy with it, just might not feel able to speak up.

Yes, I bet it's a dig at Kirsty Wark... I love it when women who are secure and senior enough stand up for the young runners and make up artists and PAs who would be risking their careers to speak out - it's an honourable use of their power and position (see also: J K Rowling).

CaveMum · 01/12/2024 09:30

Jeeez! He has no inner monologue does he? We all knew he was delusional after that bizzarre Sunday paper “My Perfect Day” thing he did earlier this year, but he obviously hasn’t learned a thing from that.

Keep on digging GregG

He just said "I'm guilty but chose the wrong woman to mess with "

Wish we could give younger and lower social class women the confidence to call out crap

Hotflushesandchilblains · 01/12/2024 09:30

Middle aged, middle class women of the world - I salute you

ArcheryAnnie · 01/12/2024 09:31

Amazing that he doesn't appear to understand that one allegation from a woman is worthy of investigation.

The more he talks about the allegations, the more convincing the allegations sound.

BurgundyBear · 01/12/2024 09:31

What a prickK.

TidyTaupeSnail · 01/12/2024 09:31

This is reminding me of the time Gazza was drunk and high on coke and turned up at the standoff between Police and Raoul Moat with a fishing rod and fried chicken offering to de-escalate the situation.

Gazzas agent was on holiday at the time but a media outlet called him and his response was " he's doing WHAT?...i'm speechless".

I imagine that's how Wallaces agent, PR and lawyers are feeling this morning..

I'm a woman of a certain age who enjoyed his programme about the European christmas markets and Inside the Factory. Fuck him now he's shown his true colours.

HaveYouActuallyDoneAnyWashingThisWeekMum · 01/12/2024 09:32

Methinks GregG doth protest too much

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 01/12/2024 09:33

I’ve never been much of a fan of Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster but I’m starting to think they’re great! Good for Rod for sticking up for his wife publicly, Penny seemed sweet on Sewing Bee, and I’ve got a soft spot for them after Rod saved the model railway club that got vandalised.

Workiskilligme · 01/12/2024 09:33

Did Greg James mention him at all on Friday?

Harrumphhhh · 01/12/2024 09:33

It’s hardly surprising that it’s this demographic that are speaking out is it?

‘Middle class’ = outdated phrase, but implies people who are more likely to be listened to

‘women’ = inaccurate as men have complained too (thank you Sir Rod) but - let’s be honest - Greg was never going to be brave enough to insult men was he?

’of a certain age’ = again, just a tiny bit more status than younger women

It’s almost like a text book in how to silence female voices. Sexually harass young women of a lower status than you (because of the power imbalance contestant / presenter) then gaslight them years later when they’re brave/ recovered enough to complain.

LightSpeeds · 01/12/2024 09:33

Another entitled, arrogant, misogynist, lying arsehole with a big mouth.

And shame on the BBC (again) for not dealing with him.

PandoraSox · 01/12/2024 09:34

DOROteeaitchwhy · 01/12/2024 09:20

Looks like he's already deleted that insta post? I can't see it... Said lawyer's smashed avocado lying untouched while he frantically tries to undo the damage. To quote Maya Angelou, when someone tells you who they are, believe them!

It is still on Twitter. Too late Greggggggg.
