I'm not surprised this has all come out now. Legislation around sexual harassment at work was strengthened last month, around employers having a duty to prevent it, with potential unlimited damages for successful claimants. Not before time. Im in HR and am in the middle of doing training and awareness raising for all staff. I'm guessing that this may have made people feel more secure that it can't just be brushed off.

Thevelvelletes · 01/12/2024 12:14

Up thread I said he was an idiot for fucking up his BBC gig and other TV work.
He's opened his mouth again confirming he really is an idiot.

Obsessedwithlamps · 01/12/2024 12:17

This of course reflects so badly on BBC (again!), but also wonder why his con presenters were ok with his behaviour!

ScaryGrotbag · 01/12/2024 12:19

I know one of his friends and knowing what he's like, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest!

daliesque · 01/12/2024 12:19

This is actually darkly hilarious to watch

Agree it's always good to see a misogynist get what's coming. His poor wife though.

gmgnts · 01/12/2024 12:20

😆😅😂

John The Toad is probably just as equally as repugnant as Wallace. I’m just glad he’s finally being seen for what he actually is.

He’s likely to be sunk by this too. Because how could he not have noticed? And having noticed, why did he enable it by silence?

And he’s not the direct perpetrator, maybe his career will survive. But he’s not a presenter I’d be able interested in watching now

levantine · 01/12/2024 12:22

Oh dear, that is Greg sunk then. Dickhead

EdithBond · 01/12/2024 12:23

Just seen the latest video. Boy, he has a lot of work to do on himself!

By doubling down, he’s digging a deeper hole. His loved ones should try to talk him out of posting.

Any empathetic person would be horrified if people found their behaviour sexually harassing, unprofessional, inappropriate or otherwise making others uncomfortable or upset, when there’s no need to do it. It doesn’t matter what class, gender, ethnicity or anything else.

”Only” 13 people complained. Jeez.

ArabellaScott · 01/12/2024 12:24

HaveYouActuallyDoneAnyWashingThisWeekMum · 01/12/2024 09:23

So his full name is GreGGory?! 🤣

As in Greggorian Cant?

Danceswithweasels · 01/12/2024 12:25

CaveMum · 01/12/2024 09:30

Jeeez! He has no inner monologue does he? We all knew he was delusional after that bizzarre Sunday paper “My Perfect Day” thing he did earlier this year, but he obviously hasn’t learned a thing from that.

Keep on digging GregG

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-68227821

I think he needs to request his money back on his Manifesting course, it doesn't seem to be working by as promised 😂

crumblingschools · 01/12/2024 12:26

Those 13 women were the ones who have the position to be able to speak up for the others that don’t

But what everyone needs are for men to speak out against this behaviour. Obviously what we really need is for this behaviour to stop but until men stand up to it that won’t happen

LostTheMarble · 01/12/2024 12:26

Such a small man, we all see it.

However, there may be a small positive from his rant. The years of ‘certain types of women’ being mocked for being ‘K*rens’ is now being held up as a mirror. People are outraged at him lumping ‘certain women’ together for daring speak out against his behaviour. Perhaps others will start reflecting on how they blame women for having a tenacity for using their voice. Because that’s what he’s trying to say here, he’s trying to get those same people on side and it’s backfired.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 01/12/2024 10:47

I think your right. I've complained twice to the bbc about derogatory comments and both times the replied just implied I was too sensitive. Maybe I just have higher standards due to having been bullied.

One complaint was in regards to a football commentator constantly focusing on a players nose and the other was after a jockey won the grand national and the interviewer focused on the jockeys teeth.

Please keep going.
It’s only by seeing reactions that people start to realise that maybe their viewers are more touch with the public mood than they are.

We need the next Mary Whitehouse. Yes people mocked, called her prudish and out of touch. But she kept standards right up there as an important concern. That’s what we’re lacking now

Cattery · 01/12/2024 12:28

I don’t think we’ll witness such a perfect example of zero self awareness for a long time

Pthagonal · 01/12/2024 12:28

ArabellaScott · 01/12/2024 12:24

As in Greggorian Cant?

You've misspelt that last word, it should have a u in it, not an a.

Does anyone else now want a t-shirt with 'Middle class woman of a certain age - don't mess with me' on it?

JulianAssangesCat · 01/12/2024 12:28

Has he deleted the video? It’s not on his instagram anymore.

BananaSpanner · 01/12/2024 12:28

Bet his wife is on MN and is telling him of the love he’s getting here from all us MC women of a certain age.

DianaRiggsCatsuit · 01/12/2024 12:29

I'm surprised he didn't say the misogynistic term the 'Karen's' are out to get him.
He is tone deaf and it just shows his true colours.

BananaSpanner · 01/12/2024 12:31

JulianAssangesCat · 01/12/2024 12:28

Has he deleted the video? It’s not on his instagram anymore.

It’s on his story. Definitely still there.

LoobyDoop2 · 01/12/2024 12:31

ScaryGrotbag · 01/12/2024 12:19

I know one of his friends and knowing what he's like, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest!

It was always patently obvious from watching him on camera that he was repulsive, this can’t possibly have come as a surprise to anyone.

FennelFan · 01/12/2024 12:32

JulianAssangesCat · 01/12/2024 12:28

Has he deleted the video? It’s not on his instagram anymore.

Still on his stories

expandabandband · 01/12/2024 12:36

I think the BBC has really fucked it up here. It's clear that loads of contributors and particularly loads of senior women have complained about him and all of these have been brushed under the carpet.

But it doesn't surprise me. It's not just about junior staff not being listened to, the people who run the independent production companies don't want to kill the goose which is laying the golden eggs. It's a precarious business and you want to keep your returning series, but the truth is that no one knows why anything is a success. So you don't want to mess with it and it;'s much easier to get another runner than another presenter.

Side note: Hugh F-W notorious for behaving badly with blond production assistants. People were already disappointed in him twenty odd years ago and he got dropped as a guest on a couple of programmes for this reason. But he does own his own production company, which helps...

WotWithTheseFeet · 01/12/2024 12:37

The nature of the industry means many in it are self employed and have always to be concerned about where their next job is coming from. In this fairly 'closed' community the wrong word at the wrong time could equal no future work. There are exceptions of course, like the more high profile television/radio personalities who've made complaints and could have done earlier; indeed they may well have done as it seems there have been previous inquiries into his conduct. However, this morning's comments just demonstrate the man is boorish with no sense of self awareness as he could have made the same points in a more diplomatic fashion. After all, irrespective of the merits of a particular case it's not uncommon for many to jump on the woke bandstand given the first opportunity.

How to alienate your target audience - what an idiot !
