This is a very timely comment as I have a few of his books and I was wondering whether to declutter them or not.

Decision made! 😄

Edited

I have his “Fruit” and “Veg” books and love them 😂. Thankfully I bought them both second hand and will just hide them at the back of the bookcase.
Nigel Slater don’t fail me now!

I just watched his video and it was a very very bad decision of his. Very bad indeed.

he should have said I don’t recognise these complaints, I’m so sorry if anyone felt I caused offence, I’ve worked with thousands and never had an issue, happy to support any investigation. . Or just stayed silent.

but “a handful of middle aged celeb women”. Um no gregg, it goes much further, and compounding the issue by making a sexist classist and ageist comment was never going go to help.

This was my reaction too. He's acted impulsively in posting that (which it seems is a pattern of his- speaking before thinking). I also noted he focused solely on MasterChef, whereas if other reports are accurate there were complaints spanning other shows he's worked on.

I used to work with someone who made inappropriate sexual comments to female staff all the time (I was 17, he was approaching 30). I'm under no illusion that he thought he was being funny and banterous, but all the recipients felt really uncomfortable around him and I'd actively avoid being alone in the stock room with him. I'd be willing to bet this is how the women felt around Greg's "banter" too.

Id imagine his PR team are not returning his calls. They know his career is over

Has his wife, agent, lawyer not got a gagging order on him? Won't miss seeing him on TV.

speakball · 01/12/2024 11:39

My husband just asked me if c—- is spelt with one or 2 g’s ?

Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 01/12/2024 11:28

Ah so they're throwing women under the bus so they're not seen as classist. Wonderful.

Its the same logic which results in a (still) overwhelmingly white, male, Oxbridge BBC seeing the likes of Wallace as "representing" the working class on TV.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 01/12/2024 11:39

He played it exactly the way you would if you had no ability to self reflect on your behaviour with the professional impartiality needed to retain your career. Narcissistic bull in a china shop basically.

Trying to line himself up as a hero for men who hate us. Depressing but probably his best career move at this point.

Andrew Tate is probably sending him a Christmas card right now!

They're currently in negotiations with GB News.

Ohh, aye, us working class salt of the earth women would never take offense at sexual harrasment. We take it in the well meaning spirit it was intended. As demonstrated on the docu-drama that is Carry On Films

At least the Carry On films were of their age (about 50 years ago) and did not carry on as the world moved on. They were also really funny, written and acted by talented people, and the creepy male characters ended up as laughing stocks

This is just an inadequate man, who is angry that his shitty and unfunny conduct (that he got away with for far too long) has come to light. And normal people find it deplorable

AMiddleClassWomanOfACertainAge · 01/12/2024 11:48

Oh Greg, (fuck your 3rd g), your comments at not the win you think they are

martinisforeveryone · 01/12/2024 11:51

WooleyMunky · 01/12/2024 09:25

Greg.
One g.
In case he ever reads this, and it irritates him...

I've read that it's his real name, not an abbreviation.

Two easy ways to remember how to spell it accurately.

It's the same as Gregg's the high street bakery chain.

Even better, as seen elsewhere, take a good look at his head and remember
GrEGG. Once seen, never forgotten.

Edit, sorry, my point being, that'll probably irritate him just as much as omitting the additional G

EmotionalSupportPotato · 01/12/2024 11:55

Shut up Greg

Piccalino3 · 01/12/2024 09:07

Keep digging Greg, keep digging.... we can all see what a total bellend you are!

Or... he's pivoting to present a right wing podcast.

Williamclimbseverest · 01/12/2024 11:56

Obviously his ideal girl is just turned 16 and poor. Weird power imbalance going on there

ilovesooty · 01/12/2024 11:57

Just don't go on Facebook if you value your sanity.

He's been set up
The poor man
He must be devastated
He might kill himself
It's just banter
You can't say anything nowadays
No one has a sense of humour now
Women used to have their bottoms smacked at work and it didn't do them any harm
They've ruined him on purpose
People are too woke
Get a life.

And depressingly those comments were all made by women.

SabrinaThwaite · 01/12/2024 11:57

There was a good discussion about sexism/ misogyny in the workplace on Friday’s Woman’s Hour - worth a listen, especially if you’re stuck in this kind of situation.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 01/12/2024 11:57

Or to look at another way Gregg

  1. You made the comments to women to make them feel uncomfortable, not men.
  2. The people who came forward are far enough into their careers that they are a little bit less worried about this ruining their professional future. Low paid contract workers and younger women have more to lose by complaining.
  3. You have already been fired from another program for the same thing.

But yeah, of course the fault lies entirely with everyone who has come forward. Definitely not Gregg.

Cattery · 01/12/2024 11:58

Kimberleh · 01/12/2024 11:05

I love that he's digging himself in deeper.

He came to my workplace to film. He was loathed by everyone, and I do mean everyone who encountered him. I actually don't think he said anything sexually inappropriate (that I heard about anyway) but he was just downright rude and sexist.

He did a piece to camera with a woman worker, where part of the task was quite physical. When she showed what they did, he did that 'cor blimey luv, how old are ya??' crap. Without missing a beat, she replied 'I'm two years older than you Greg, same age as your mother in law I think'.

It didn't make the cut 😁

He also swanned around telling people not to be intimidated by him as 'I'm just the same as you- only difference between us is 7million' and shit like that. The whole factory thought he was an absolute prat, and to be fair, the TV crew seemed to think the same.

Utter wanker

JurassicPark4Eva · 01/12/2024 12:02

When even the comments section on the Daily Mail think you're a prick, it's time to shut up. 😂

Watch Gregg Wallace say 'I'll munch the living daylights out of your little tart' in resurfaced MasterChef clip | The Sun

Guilty as charged, Mr Wallace. That's disgusting. eta The caption says 'your'. It's clearly 'you'.

Edited

The comments on that segment on Facebook have high numbers of women defending him. 😡

Jeeez! He has no inner monologue does he? We all knew he was delusional after that bizzarre Sunday paper “My Perfect Day” thing he did earlier this year, but he obviously hasn’t learned a thing from that.

Keep on digging GregG

The best thing in that is Tom Hollanders routine.
