How often do you wear make-up? Poll

Having a chat with a group of friends I was surprised at how many of them said they never wore make-up or only special occasions, and not to work. I assumed that not wearing make-up was quite rare, so I’m interested in a wider sample to see if my friends are odd! It’s hard to come up with every option so please pick the closest answer.

I’m interested in answers from women so if you’re male and want to see poll answers please click the male option!

I put it on every morning. I go out every day but I'd put it on even if I had no plans to go out, because I might decide to go out later. I wear tinted moisturiser, eyebrow powder, eyeliner, mascara, blusher, lipstick.

bakewellbride · 27/11/2024 12:39

5 or 6 days a week.

TheWittyBird · 27/11/2024 12:41

I don't wear makeup now , I have a healthy glow so I just put Aldi Moisture cream on

Every day since I was 12. Its become part of my bathroom necessaries. I could prob do it in the dark lol. I stopped wearing mascara a few years ago tho, I caught conjunctivitis from my son and couldnt wear anything on my eyes for about 2 weeks. I noticed my eyelashes were looking a bit longer and improved so I left it there. I wear mascara now only for best.

borntobequiet · 27/11/2024 12:41

Makeup makes me look weird and I dislike the feel of it, so I just use a tinted moisturiser and very occasionally very light lip gloss.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 27/11/2024 12:41

Never - I don’t own any.

nocoolnamesleft · 27/11/2024 12:48

About three times a year for special events.

FiveTreeHill · 27/11/2024 12:54

Most days. I wouldn't wear it to the gym or the supermarket and have the odd day off but generally for work, socialising or going out I wear it

It takes me 5-10 minutes. I don't find it a faff and enjoy the routine of putting it on. I like how I look with make up on. Yeah I look fine without but I feel like my make up gives me my look

isthesolution · 27/11/2024 13:29

5 or 6 days a week. But just a little bit of eye makeup. Usually just taking 5 mins.

ManchesterLu · 27/11/2024 13:36

Only special occasions, and I always regret it, because I'm shit at it, and it makes my skin break out.

unsync · 27/11/2024 14:08

I use lipsalve from Sisley, or the lipstuff from Clarins but that's about it. I do get lashes lifted and tinted for holidays.

DebtinVegas · 27/11/2024 10:30

Every day.
Foundation mixed with serum, pink lipstick and lip balm, green eyeshadow and a tiny bit of green eye liner and a few strokes with a blonde micro tip brow pencil (to fill in bald patches in brows), powder on my nose. Sometimes green mascara.

Oh I love Green!
Do you have hazle eyes? 😍

SabreIsMyFave · 27/11/2024 14:36

@noblegiraffe

There's not really a category for me to choose.

It's not a part of my daily routine. I don't put make up on every day.

And I don't put it on every time I go out .. I'll put it on if I'm going up town, or if I'm off to meet a friend, or off out for the day.

But I won't put make up on if I'm just popping to the shops for 10 minutes, or if I'm going out for a walk.

And I don't wear it for work as I work from home.

So I can't click any of those choices.

No, they’re grey.
I’m a recent convert to green eye makeup. Every other colour seems to make my eyes look more tired. Green is the only colour that brightens them up.

Bloom15 · 27/11/2024 15:15

Pretty much every day - I love it, love trying different colours. My mum has never really worn much so she always wonders where I get it from!

It makes me feel artistic

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 27/11/2024 15:17

Foundation/base - every day
Lipstick - if I go out anywhere
Eye make up - never

Wallywobbles · 27/11/2024 15:17

As close to never as is socially acceptable.

BobTheBobcatsBob · 27/11/2024 15:17

Everyday. I look pasty and washed out without makeup.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 27/11/2024 15:20

If there's meant to be options to click on things I don't seem to have access to it (App on iPhone)

OAPapparently · 27/11/2024 15:21

Make up looks ridiculous on me and I feel silly wearing it.
I have a skin condition that is impossible to cover with make up too, so I don’t bother even trying.

lovenotwar149 · 27/11/2024 15:23

I'm comfortable wearing it and not wearing it tbh. I wear it when going to work and eve wear.but its pretty subtle. I like a bit of lip tho

lovenotwar149 · 27/11/2024 15:24

I exercise on a few times a wk ,and I find it odd when ii see women wearing make up when running or in the pool

BoundaryGirl3939 · 27/11/2024 15:33

Wearing less as I get older. Tinted moisturiser, brow pencil and lipstick for me.

MoodEnhancer · 27/11/2024 15:34

Despite your comprehensive list for voting, I don’t fit those categories and I imagine many are in the same position as me. I don’t routinely wear make up when I leave the house for work or anything else, although sometimes I do. I never wear it while at home unless I have an online meeting I want to look a bit more polished for. I pretty much always wear it on a night out. So I guess my response is: sometimes, but not frequently and it’s not entirely dependent on what I am doing that day.

TheTruthICantSay · 27/11/2024 15:45

I clicked every day even though that's not entirely true. But I'd say I wear a little make up almost eevry day. I don't specifically notice if other people are wearing make up really, but I suspect most of the women I see out and about are the same as me - wearing a small amount. And then, on nights out or for particlar reasons, we're wearing more.

So for me it' susually a bit of foundation (very light coverage, often almost applied like concealer so really just to smooth my complexion over my upper cheeks, nose, forehead), mascara (brown) and lip balm or neutral lipstick and maybe a tiny bit of blush if I'm feeling a bit pale (or have used more foundation).

I suspect that most people wouldn't think, "oh yes, she's wearing make up".

But I definitely wear more if I'm in the City all day, or going out for the evening or whatever.

It's also definitely about the act for me. I chuckle to myself sometimes to realise I've put a full face on... and I'm WFH, not doing school rujn, no chores, and no conference calls. Then the next day I'm running around, have calls etc and am wearing the bare minimum or none at all!
