How often do you wear make-up? Poll

noblegiraffe · 27/11/2024 09:32

Having a chat with a group of friends I was surprised at how many of them said they never wore make-up or only special occasions, and not to work. I assumed that not wearing make-up was quite rare, so I’m interested in a wider sample to see if my friends are odd! It’s hard to come up with every option so please pick the closest answer.

I’m interested in answers from women so if you’re male and want to see poll answers please click the male option!

If I'm going out shopping or coffee etc I'll slap a bit of CC cream on to cover my mild rosacea. If I'm going to a wedding or event, I'll use foundation, powder and lipstick. I wear glasses so there's no point using eye shadow or mascara as nobody will see it plus I have very poor eyesight so unless my face is pressed up against a mirror, I can't see to apply make up without my glasses!

Goldrill · 27/11/2024 11:38

Nope. Nothing wrong with my face!

Tillow4ever · 27/11/2024 11:40

I very, very rarely wear make up. Maybe if I go out, but even then I might not! I've never really been a big make up wearer.... although to look at my make up collection you'd think I wore it all the time!

Every day. Although sometimes it might just be mascara and brow pencil as I'm blonde so my eyes disappear without them!
I only ever go for a more natural make-up look though.

Jostuki · 27/11/2024 11:56

I have worn make up every day since the early 1980s to now with only a few days off when I have been in hospital.

RuthW · 27/11/2024 11:57

Everyday unless I'm not leaving the house. No poll option on mobile

doodleschnoodle · 27/11/2024 12:02

I've actually started wearing it most days. I've lost a fair bit of weight and that's made me want to take a bit more care of my appearance as I actually don't mind looking in the mirror now. I like wearing just some foundation if I'm going out and about. I have a bit of rosacea so it just helps to kind of tone that down and make my skin look a bit smoother.

Stuff like eyeshadow etc just generally for nights out but I do love having my lashes done.

ItWasntMyFault · 27/11/2024 12:04

I wear under eye concealer and face powder every day just to make me look well as otherwise I look ill. Most people won't realise I'm wearing any though.
I never wear eye makeup up or lipstick.

angelcake20 · 27/11/2024 12:07

Only for nights out. My skin gamers far worse when I wear it. My friends are a complete mix from same as me to full face whenever they leave the house, but probably more of the former.

Scottishskifun · 27/11/2024 12:07

Nope only for a special occasion or night out. I just can't be bothered in everyday or for work.
Most people are used to my face how it is and find it a bit odd when I do!

Edenmum2 · 27/11/2024 12:08

Every day

FlamingoYellow · 27/11/2024 12:13

I chose the option 'special outings'; I do wear make-up if I'm going into the office, but I only go into the office once or twice a year, so that is a special outing for me 😂.

JazzyJelly · 27/11/2024 12:13

Practically never

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/11/2024 12:15

Every day.
Foundation
Setting powder
Neutral eyeshadow
Mascara and eyeliner.
Takes 15 mins

Kokomjolk · 27/11/2024 12:19

I've never worn it in my life. Just never been interested. And yes I'm a woman.

TheShellBeach · 27/11/2024 12:26

Always. It's part of my morning routine.
If we're going out in the evening, I do it again.

I don't feel dressed without it, although I do very little to my eyes. I'm very, very pale, so I cheer my skin tone up and always wear lipstick.

ImthatBoleyngirl · 27/11/2024 12:27

Everyday. Foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, eyebrow pomade, lipstick.

It's very natural and just enhances my features. Only takes 10 mins and I enjoy applying it.

TheShellBeach · 27/11/2024 12:28

Foundation.

Powder.

Blusher (not much).

Eye shadow (a little).

Mascara.

Lip gloss and lipstick.

Setting spray.

Takes about 8 mins.

MrsKwazi · 27/11/2024 12:29

Before covid - every day.
after covid, only for hairdresser/day out/special shop/sometimes dinner out etc.

Same here. I dropped 4 dress sizes (and still going) and now I'm a "normal" size and can shop in "normal shops". This made me want to buy expensive clothes and then that led to me wanting to wear nice makeup, have good haircuts, and smell lovely. It's been weirdly transformative, and I didn't expect it to be. (It has coincided with having more disposable income, now that I am older, which also helps to explain it).

I say this without comparison or judgement of anyone else, of course. I don't care what anyone else is doing, I'm just finally enjoying being me.

I wear makeup every day, regardless of what I'm doing - unless I'm too poorly or similarly distracted to do so - childbirth, mourning, very ill child to worry about etc. I focus on a natural look and do mostly the same thing every day - but naturally this too evolves. I don't wear eyeliner anymore, for example - it doesn't suit me now. I use concealer around my eyes now, where in my twenties it was reserved exclusively for blemishes! I am in my early 40s.

K0OLA1D · 27/11/2024 12:30

Bit of mascara but that's normally it. Try a bit harder if it's a special occasion

ViciousCurrentBun · 27/11/2024 12:33

I can only wear Clinique very occasionally due to allergies to make up and perfume so it’s bloody expensive. I have very allergy prone skin so have never worn much, when I was a teen and was having my medical for nursing I told the Doctor doing it, he said all make up was bad for skin and women shouldn’t wear it. Because my skin has almost never had anything but water or simple or Clinique moisturiser on it it’s in very good condition for my age.

MogTheSillyCat · 27/11/2024 12:34

I wear it most days. It’s part of my morning routine. I enjoy doing my make up, it doesn’t take long. I like the more ‘natural’ look but I also like a good lipstick. It’s fun being able to experiment with colours.

Dontcallmescarface · 27/11/2024 12:36

Just enough everyday to stop the stares but a full face if I'm going "out, out" (so not often).

OldTinHat · 27/11/2024 12:38

Every day. Even if I'm not going out or seeing anyone.
