Where is my friend? getting worried now

Friend coming to stay and said she'd be here about 11am so we could have lunch together. Still no sign of her.

Her DP just texted me about 2.45pm and asked if she'd got here safely as she wasn't answering texts and usually drops him a quick text after long drives to let him now she's turned up. He said she left at 9.30am which is right as it's about an hour and a half. I sent her a text about 12.30 along the lines of don't worry about running late I can hold lunch see you in a bit - no reply.

I've looked at her route on google maps - no traffic holdups that I can see. Not yet replied to her DP - will have to say she's not arrived... luckily he's not the type to panic but he will be concerned obviously.

talk me down I'm imagining all sorts of awful things. I wouldn't worry about an hour or even 2 hours at a push but 4 hours late with no communication is concerning especially as I know she left on time and she's usually really reliable give or take 20 minutes

How far away from her house was her car?

Cece92 · 16/11/2024 16:13

I hope your friends okay maybe she has broken down and her phones died. Hopefully get an explanation soon xx

SJandBabydoc · 16/11/2024 16:13

Any news? Hoping she's ok 🥹

Normallynumb · 16/11/2024 16:13

I hope she is ok and her DP
Is on his way
My guess she has broken down.
This is where technology some find intrusive can literally be a lifesaver.
I have my 3 sons on find my phone and they do me, for safety.

TokyoSushi · 16/11/2024 16:14

Gosh what a worry, hope she's ok

YarkYark · 16/11/2024 16:16

There are some really nasty and provocative posters on here. This is a worrying situation that doesn't need nonsense speculation. You know who you are - stop it.

Doggymummar · 16/11/2024 16:17

Fancy her not letting one of you know tho, if she has broken down.

Yes. Very odd.

Well said. It is the same everytime a thread like this comes up. Same people trying to stir and turn it into something that it isn't.

I'm not usually a suspicious type. But it's odd her dp is so calm.
If phone died the WhatsApp wouldn't deliver

Maybe it’s just me, but if I was setting off on a journey my phone would be fully charged. Also as you say, WhatsApp wouldn’t have delivered if it had died.

Very strange that she didn’t make a call - wonder if she called for breakdown?

Jollyhockeystickss · 16/11/2024 16:22

Hope shes ok

Perhaps her phone died and someone else called breakdown. I'd be hard pushed to remember my DH's phone number normally let alone in an emergency!

Differentstarts · 16/11/2024 16:24

Fingers crossed everything is OK you must be going out of your mind. Thank god she has a tracker on phone and car.

PiggyPigalle · 16/11/2024 16:24

My daughter broke down, put her phone on the car roof which slid off under the wheels of a caravan being towed.
Just offering a possible explanation for no contact.

Thefaceofboe · 16/11/2024 16:26

Can her partner see if she’s moving or stationary? On find my friends it says if they are driving or not

tunainatin · 16/11/2024 16:26

Hopefully it's a breakdown and she ran out of battery.

pizzaHeart · 16/11/2024 16:28

Hope it’s a case of breakdown plus no signal.

For those who says that her DH is strangely calm, he is not. He didn’t txt OP back : it’s ok, probably a breakdown, she’ll turn out eventually. And then stayed at home watching TV. He tried different ways of contact and now driving to the area.

Most likely explanation

I hope your friend is ok, please come back and update us!

I find it strange the DP is so calm. Over 4 hours late, no contact at all to anyone? Not normal for him to be calm or assume there is a rational explanation, in my view.

How do you know his emotional state? Just say what you mean.

UsernameNameUser · 16/11/2024 16:33

I’d be worried too OP. No sign of her hours after an agreed upon time, no communication of any form, and TWO people unable to reach her? Definitely odd.

Phone receiving messages means it’s still on though. Does anyone have a tracker on her? My family and I all have trackers in the event of an emergency (car crash, crime against us, etc)

anonny55 · 16/11/2024 16:34

Hope she is found okay Op

Me too! The only numbers I know off by heart are an old house phone belonged to my parents that hasn’t been active in 10 odd years, and emergency services 🙈
