How do you dry towels in the bathroom without anywhere to hang them?

Bad title maybe.

I have underfloor heating in the bathroom. Nice and cosy, but this means there are no radiators/ towel rails to dry towels on. I need a solution!

The walls are tiled and I’m slightly loathe to drill into them. I need to be able to dry 4 bath sheets daily. Help!

Ok, probably a stupid answer. Put them on the floor?

I think you need a heated towel rail/towel radiator. Don't think you can really do it any other way.

Arran2024 · 10/11/2024 14:09

You need a tumble dryer or a heated drying rack

I pop mine on my bedroom radiator. Can everybody not do that?

command hooks. they do nice brushed silver or chrome
ones. hold a full size bath towel (check the weight on the packet).
had no problem with ours on the back of the door

Grepes · 10/11/2024 14:11

I don’t think you’d get 4 bath sheets dry on a heated towel rack unless it was massive!!

We all just put ours over a radiator after a shower.

PumpkinPurple · 10/11/2024 14:11

You can get freestanding towel rails.

Whatareyourpreferredchromosomes · 10/11/2024 14:11

Hooks on the door of course.

Oh, not for 4 big towels every day. Sorry.

Use fast drying towels? 😬

I was thinking something like a clothes airer, but they’re all massive or seem to have only space for 3 towels (zigzag shape)

Clothes over door hanger.

ComfortandHappiness · 10/11/2024 14:14

I’ve tried hooks, but the towels aren’t opened out, so don’t really dry, plus the wall behind becomes bad.

Unfortunately we don’t have proper radiators anywhere. Fixing the central heating is a job for the future.

You could put a Sheila Maid in the bathroom or over the stairs.
You could use a freestanding towel rail
Hang them over the bannister
Everyone use their bedroom radiator

Ceiling mounted drying rack

Over the banister
Over the shower rail if you have one
On those "over the door" rails
On a stand alone towel rail or two
Over the back of the kitchen chairs/stools

Or use paper towels. 😊

This is the way

Over the door rail

TaggySits · 10/11/2024 14:32

In the winter when I can't hang towels outside I get everyone in my family to use the quick-dry sports towel things to dry off the worst of the dampness and then they can wrap the bath sheet around themselves.

The bath towel doesn't really get wet and dries very easily hanging over the bannister or a door for a short while. The small sports towels dry really easily and don't need much space. A small freestanding towel rail or clothes airer will sort them.

NannyR · 10/11/2024 14:35

Do you actually need bath sheets sized towels? They are huge! I use hand towels from IKEA which are slightly larger than standard hand towels but they are the perfect size to get dried off with after a shower and because they are smaller sized, they dry quickly on a hook on the back of a door.

minipie · 10/11/2024 14:39

Even with a heated towel rail you wouldn’t get 4 bath sheets to dry every day as the towels would need to be folded up to fit and wouldn’t dry.

I think 4 wall hooks is your best bet (stick on as pp says) although you’ll need to keep the room warm for several hours - using radiators in other rooms might be more cost effective if they are on anyway

OneOfLittleConsequence · 10/11/2024 14:54

Lakeland wall mounted fold out heated airer

Sounds like ventilation problem.

How long does extractor fan stay on??

We leave ours on for a bit post-showers to help dry the room out in winter.

I put mine over the banister in the hall and yes I'm afraid we need to resuse them
