How do you dry towels in the bathroom without anywhere to hang them?

Bad title maybe.

I have underfloor heating in the bathroom. Nice and cosy, but this means there are no radiators/ towel rails to dry towels on. I need a solution!

The walls are tiled and I’m slightly loathe to drill into them. I need to be able to dry 4 bath sheets daily. Help!

I pop mine on my bedroom radiator. Can everybody not do that?

If I did that my bedroom would get mouldy really quickly!

Yes. My bathroom is designed to deal with the humidity (fan/ dehumidifier/ underfloor heating to keep the room warm). The rest of my house less so.

Swap bath sheets for towelling robes and each person hangs it on the back of their door, add hair towels for those with long hair.

Aa a, couple of other have suggested, a freestanding towel rail. Googling brings up various options.

I haven’t seen any designed for 4 towels, though. Most are 2 or 3.

We each have over radiator hangers in the bedrooms. Only have one hand towel in the bathroom.

I have an airing cupboard with a rack for towels. I can only fit one bath sheet on the bathroom towel rail. It's really only good for hand towels which is annoying.

Adayintheworld · 10/11/2024 16:53

Tumble dryer? If between washes we put dc 's two on a towel rail above radiator. We hang dh's, and I's in our ensuite on a triple rail above radiator. Ikea do a great one that has extendable prongs that pull out.
Could you use a triple towel rail and over top of door? The heat from your floor will rise and dry them.

I think the truck is getting them aired after use. Just hanging them up on a hook is not really going to air them out.

Dehumidifier in the bathroom. Dries them in an hour or two.

TheRoseBear · 10/11/2024 17:07

I hang mine over the doors. One hanging off the corner and one over the top of the door. Not stylish but it is a functional solution.

There are three of us. I use the banister (i think towels only dry properly if they are spread out). Luckily the kids swim and shower in the evening. For swimming they use quick dry towels. For showers they use thin bath towels and they dry quickly (taking the place of mine on the bannister).

CrazyCatLady008 · 10/11/2024 17:15

In my old house I put them over the doors to dry.

Now I have a heated towel rack but I prefer to dry them in the tumble dryer to make them fluffy Smile

Over-door hooks. Have never felt the need for a heated rail, they always just burn people.

Portolaurel · 10/11/2024 17:20

Smaller towels.

I know you said bath sheets are "a little bit of luxury" and it's cold where you live but getting dried takes 30 seconds, and then hours to dry 4 massive bath sheets. The math ain't mathing.

I have a heated towel rack in the bathroom and underfloor heating. I never hang towels on the radiator. Worst case scenario they can just wait on the bed/vanity chair where I last used it and then I can take it to the bathroom or laundry hamper.

MaidOfAle · 10/11/2024 17:23

I have a wall-mounted electric heated towel airer on the landing. That plus dehumidifier means the job is done.

Davros · 10/11/2024 17:26

I don't use a bath towel. I have a towelling robe which I put on straight out of the shower, then wear it to my bedroom to get dressed. Each person could dry their own robe in their room

JurassicPark4Eva · 10/11/2024 17:27

Ours get hung over bedroom doors each day to dry off. Not in the bathroom.

I dry off with a small towel, then wrap it round my hair, and wrap my mostly dry self in a large bath sheet. It’s much easier to dry a properly damp small towel, and just air a slightly damp bath sheet.

Would two compact ones, each for 2 towels work?

An over door airer if you have room
