How do you dry towels in the bathroom without anywhere to hang them?

Bad title maybe.

I have underfloor heating in the bathroom. Nice and cosy, but this means there are no radiators/ towel rails to dry towels on. I need a solution!

The walls are tiled and I’m slightly loathe to drill into them. I need to be able to dry 4 bath sheets daily. Help!

There is no perfect solution as you are trying to dry 4 very large towels in a damp room.

Several options
If you really want the towels to stay in the bathroom get smaller towels - you don’t need large bath sheets to dry yourself.
Take the towels out of the bathroom to individual rooms and everyone has a free standing rack they can use in their rooms.
Come up with a complicated arrangement that will hold 4 very large towels and heat them to dry them in situ.

In surprised how many people try to dry lots of towels in the bathroom. Don't you wear the towel back to your bedroom?

I get dried in the bathroom (mostly while still standing in the bath) then wear clothes (day or night ) when leaving. The towels were bought for our old house, which had a freezing bathroom. I hadn’t thought about replacing them (cost and they’re nice), but considering it after reading the replies. Never thought about downsizing towels!

If you have four large towels to dry, you and yours might want to learn how to dry more efficiently. As Victor Meldrew once said you can dry yourself pretty much with a flannel.

It’s not so much about drying. Large towels are lovely to wrap yourself in. Our old bathroom was cold. However it had a radiator and a radiator towel airer.

Using bath sheets is crazy, they are huge. One medium towel plus another for long hair suits us. We often share too so end up using an already damp towel - still alive!

Thesilkinsideachesnutshell · 12/11/2024 08:07

Not the point of the thread I know but I love bath sheets. I wrap up after my bath or shower and lie on the bed all cosy for ages. Sometimes with a smaller towel around my neck too.

I couldn't use a smaller towel.and get dressed immediately. I feel all damp and uncomfortable.

Even if I wore a towel into my bedroom it's home is the bathroom.
Are you saying you gave towels hanging up in your bedroom? Where? Draped over doors and radiators?
That's messy. That's what towel rails are for.

I would never share towels, shouldn’t be necessary to do that. I have one for hair, one for body , plus a hand towel for the loo.

Those twisty turban things are great for wet hair - way smaller and more convenient than a towel.

You're meant to use the towel to dry your body ie by rubbing it, not just wrap yourself and wait to dry.
What you're doing is OK obviously, but it is quite possible to use a towel smaller than a bath sheet and to not feel damp.

A big airer that you stand in the footprint of the bath or shower cubicle.

Suspension rods in the bathroom that you then hang towels on. Many suspension rods are held by tension so no screwing necessary.

Definitely dry after using. Interesting how many imperfect solutions there are - I am maybe looking for an ideal solution where there is none.

I find that mine have dried before my next shower/bath i.e. next day. This is with 4 towels hung properly i.e. folded not bunched.
Seems like a pretty good solution to me!

Thesilkinsideachesnutshell · 12/11/2024 15:51

@mongoliandoll I can't tell if you're joking or not but thanks for letting me know its ok to do it as I please and also for the info on how to do it correctly if I change my mind!

I shall think of you when I get my lovely big bath sheet out tonight ready for my long drying session!

I'm not messy, thank you. We have a heated towel rack in our en suite and after getting dry ours go back on there. However our kids were their towel from their bathroom to their rooms and then hang them on their radiator. Not exactly messy!

Who made you king? If you use body lotion it doesn't really make sense to wipe it all off afterwards. I haven't rubbed myself dry since I was a child. I sit in a towel and air dry.

Their being huge is the point. Warmer for walking around in.

command hooks. they do nice brushed silver or chrome
ones. hold a full size bath towel (check the weight on the packet).
had no problem with ours on the back of the door

This is your solution.

Do you have a sewing machine? Instead of binning them, consider cutting them in half and hemming the cut edges.

Shiningout · 12/11/2024 23:24

Iva always just hung towels on the doors or radiators, never had an issue. 🤷😂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/11/2024 00:48

I throw ours in the clothes dryer for 15-20 mins. 🤷‍♀️

PracticalLady · 24/11/2024 20:50

We hang ours outside on the washing line every day, under the car port if rain is forecast. If they aren't completely dry at the end of the day we put them on a clothes airer indoors and/or tumble dry them.

Horses7 · 24/11/2024 22:34

I use clippy coat hangers and hang on door frame of bathroom or airing cupboard - doesn’t look great but dry in no time. Works for bath towels unsure if bath sheets, may be too heavy. Towels are fairly light weight towelling too so dry fast.

helenatroy · 25/11/2024 06:56

I chuck mine in the tumble dryer. 30 mins does it.
