How do you dry towels in the bathroom without anywhere to hang them?

Bad title maybe.

I have underfloor heating in the bathroom. Nice and cosy, but this means there are no radiators/ towel rails to dry towels on. I need a solution!

The walls are tiled and I’m slightly loathe to drill into them. I need to be able to dry 4 bath sheets daily. Help!

Ikea sells towel ladders which you lean against the wall so no drilling. If you can lean it above a radiator it works extra well. You might need two to dry four massive towels.

My bath sheet dries fine hung on a command hook on the bathroom door. There would be plenty of room for 2 of those (obviously could use much nicer screwed in hooks but I CBA), then you could have the two towel rack for the other two.

Could you put a retractable double line in, hang two on each line? Just you need to drill but into the grout perhaps

This should do the job

We use a clean towel each time we bathe. So then just wash and dry as normal, whatever your normal is?
Yes I do an enormous amount of laundry but don’t like to use a dirty towel.

I haven’t seen any designed for 4 towels, though. Most are 2 or 3.

Get one for each bedroom.

If your towels get dirty after one use, you need to look at how clean you are after bathing!

Tumble drier and or bannister? Victorian airer suspended from the ceiling.

Just drill into the wall, it’s fine. Make sure the drill bit is sharp and stick a bit of masking tape on the tile where you’re going to drill so the drill bit doesn’t slip at the beginning. Gentle pressure, go slowly, it’s honestly so easy you’ll wonder what you were worried about. Anything freestanding will be much more annoying to use.

And swap down from bath sheets to bath towels, at least for the others, and keep yours if you love it but they might well not care.

I dry off with a small towel, then wrap it round my hair, and wrap my mostly dry self in a large bath sheet. It’s much easier to dry a properly damp small towel, and just air a slightly damp bath sheet.

I would do this, but trying to get the rest of the family to….

I suppose I need something that I can spread 4 towels on. Surprisingly hard to find. It’s always limited to three..

Maybe something like this OP?

https://livivo.com/products/over-door-towel-holder-rack-chrome

or get over the door hooks off Amazon for two towels and a towel rack for the other two.

Looks good but no good for drying wet towels!
Also not a good idea to hang wet towels over the banister or door- in time the wood will warp.

Bannisters

Arran2024 · 10/11/2024 19:23

I hang mine on one of the bed posts and my husband put his on the other bedpost. My daughter drapes hers on her radiator, which is never turned on.

pamplemoussee · 10/11/2024 19:25

I love a towelling robe as it dries well hung up on hooks on bedroom door
I use one of those towelling wraps for my hair and that's really small so quick to dry

BorgQueen · 10/11/2024 19:30

Big suction hooks on the tiled wall, bar between them, hang up towels. It’s not bloody rocket science.

BorgQueen · 10/11/2024 19:32

I’ve hung wet towels and bedding over my bannisters for over 30 years, it’s never warped 🙄

ThePoetsWife · 10/11/2024 19:44

Buy smaller towels

Happyher · 10/11/2024 19:46

I put them over the banister on the stairs or on the bedroom radiator. Try smaller towels

TeabySea · 10/11/2024 21:19

Wall mounted pull-out drying line
Free standing clothes airer

Or, hang them over various doors throughout the house. (I use my landing bannister as well as hanging things over doors).

mewkins · 10/11/2024 21:25

Although this may create yet more drying, those microfibre hair towels are great and really easy to dry. Using those on your hair makes the normal towel less wet 😆. My dd gets through lots of them.

Why so aggressive? 1. My tiles are not smooth and suction cups don’t work (I’ve tried) 2. There's not enough wall space for 4 towels, they need to be side by side like on an airer (trying to find a small one)

Thank you for the ideas. Definitely think I should look into just get it sorted properly eventually rather than just make do.
