Elon musk interfered with the election

Littlemissgobby · 10/11/2024 12:05

Well well well led by donkeys have put a video out and my mouth dropped elon musk took over twitter to get donald trump elected again. This video shows how he purposely shoved diff algorithm to Arab voters then to Jewish voters. He pretended to be from kamalas team and put out false misinformation on twitter.
The reason is because donald trump has promised him a job to regulate industry etc which means he will regulate himself so that's good isn't it not.
Also the billion dollar contracts he will give himself now scary world plus here the kicker him and the tech bros encouraged trump to take on vance.
Is not this interference in election illegal?
Plus all this naval gazing as to what the Democrats did wrong i think the other side cheated and this is it

Does anyone go on Twitter nowadays...ok, obviously some do (I do). But it's not influential any more.

If you think a SM platform made a difference, look at Instagram or FBk or ... Twitter was always niche and Traffic on X has plummeted since Musk too over.

I think it has billions of users...

PerkingFaintly · 10/11/2024 13:21

"CNN, The New York Times" do not add up to "most of the mainstream media", and I doubt Fox News, Sinclair, the MailOnline, etc will thank you for claiming they do

AshLeaf · 10/11/2024 13:22

Watching it play out will be grimly amusing. Vance thinks he’s getting a direct path to the presidency. Trump clearly wants a dynasty and will be trying to set up one of his children to replace him as president next time. Musk, who may well have a side deal with Putin, could just be happy to take the money & influence rather than wanting direct power - or not.

So the rest of the world will burn in more ways than one while the US ‘elite’ position themselves to determine what’s next for ‘democracy’

Find it interesting in the video that elon musk and the tech bros pushed trump into taking vance shows how trump can be influenced

Yes, that was another interesting bit I learned.

I'd missed that wee detail at the time the pick was announced.

Frowningprovidence · 10/11/2024 13:27

I find it interesting that people say trump unexpectedly won as I dont really follow American politics, so I dont read papers or watch the news, but I do look at twitter and tik tok and it looked like he was winning by miles for quite a while on both platforms

The stats I've seen show there was a bit of a swing in younger men to turn up an vote and they were more for trump.

If you weren't on tik tok, there was a lot of stuff on trump women voters being prettier and happier and lots of videos younger women bouncing about in shorts saying how a good economy and supporting thier husband was great.

And Elon had lots of equating being a strong man with voting trump and did a post about women and beta men being prone to group think and alpha men being able to challenge stuff.

I knew alot of the stuff on the video but if you go watch it it gets alot more deeper then I thought

I don’t want to. He’s revolting. Nothing that weirdo would do would surprise me, though.

An American radio commentator gave me food for thought the other day. I knew Donald wasn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the box but the commentator put it into sharp relief when he said, “they both believe they’re king of the world. There can only be one. “

It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I am not generally given to conspiracy theories, but I have wondered, given that neither are exactly sane or intelligent... who is it behind them?

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 10/11/2024 13:45

I think despite his obvious and many flaws, claiming that Elon Musk must have someone behind him when he himself is behind the success of both Tesla and SpaceX is a bit of a reach. The guy clearly gets things done.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/11/2024 13:48

Don’t suppose that the richest man on the planet, and beyond, needs someone behind him?

Reallybadidea · 10/11/2024 13:48

Trump enrages and scares me. Musk terrifies me.

PerkingFaintly · 10/11/2024 13:51

Ohhhh, that's where that phrase came from.

There's a regular on MN who prides themselves on being contrarian and is therefore highly predictable (natch).

They're not notable as an original thinker, and did indeed spew out something about "beta men" recently – perhaps it was "alphas" could never vote for Harris because only "beta men" could vote for a woman? Sorry, not exact quote.

Anyway, along with "WTF?", my immediate thought was, "So whose message-stream have you been bathing in now?"

Not that I spend much time thinking about this poster, you understand, but they're a reliable... not so much canary, as parrot? And the bonkersness of the particular messaging struck me, so I wondered on the origin.

Looks like I've got the answer to that one now, thanks @Frowningprovidence .Grin

Vittoriosmistress · 10/11/2024 13:52

Facebook, Google, Instagram & Twitter were already doing this for years.

Elon just bought a piece of the pie.

They are ALL as bad as each other and we are just here to watch the show. It’s ridiculous to think we have any say in what happens.

spuddy4 · 10/11/2024 13:54

@noblegiraffe did he unexpectedly win? It was so tight and swayed back and forth I don't think you can say it was unexpected that he won.

Indeed. Musk’s father was interviewed on Newsnight last week. An arrogant, entitled nut job, too. In combination with a mother who clearly believes her son is the second coming, it’s not hard to see why he is as he is. That kind of absolute certainty that you are very, very special indeed is hard to counter.

PerkingFaintly · 10/11/2024 13:57

Gosh, left Rupert Murdoch off my list of "most of the mainstream media". Don't know how I came to do that.

Well, perhaps I do. Unlike the ones keen to appear on the biggest possible stages with Trump, bouncing around waving their arms, Murdoch is wise enough to know it's better for him not to draw attention to where his hand holds the strings...

Echobelly · 10/11/2024 13:59

It's certainly deep and morally wrong manipulation - whether anyone can prove it crossed legal bounds is the problem. The law just hasn't caught up with technology and social media. Musk claims to be for 'free speech' but actively surpresses stuff he doesn't like - generally material is about protecting more vulnerable people and combatting prejudice. Of course his lot will say that blocking and removing racism, homophobia, misogyny is 'the real anti free speech', but there is a big difference between speaking up for rights for all and speaking up for taking them away for some.

spuddy4 · 10/11/2024 14:00

@Littlemissgobby you can call me stupid all you want, I'm not the one crying and looking for excuses as to why Trump won. It's attitudes like yours that played a huge part in why he won and it's because discussed on here many times over the past few days but you still resort to name calling anyone who has a different opinion to yours and that's why things will never change. I hope you find the excuses you are looking for but it still doesn't change the fact that we have Trump in charge for a few years.

noblegiraffe · 10/11/2024 14:02

spuddy4 · 10/11/2024 13:54

@noblegiraffe did he unexpectedly win? It was so tight and swayed back and forth I don't think you can say it was unexpected that he won.

But in the end it wasn't tight at all, was it? The polls said it was tight and yet he won every single one of those 'battleground' states.

'I think the other side cheated' 😂 there's no difference in X backing Trump and most of the mainstream media such as CNN, The New York Times etc backing Harris.

This. No different to celebrity enforcement either. People make up their own minds they don't vote a particular way because a celeb or X tells them too.

caringcarer · 10/11/2024 14:23

But you can choose not to watch Saturday Night Live, or whatever.

If you were on Twitter, it was rigged so that you would see pro-Trump stuff. It also wasn't a celeb endorsement, it was a barrage of propaganda. You could say the same for left wing TV, but twitter pretends to be about free speech.

It's not cheating, but claiming it's not influential is naive.

EasternStandard · 10/11/2024 14:28

X is along the lines of any media outlet, they all have an editorial slant. CNN does, NYT does

If people choose to use X then they will profit Musk, it's not compulsory to be on there

I heard an interesting interview about the demise of CNN coverage which only had around 4.7m viewers on election night whilst Megyn Kelly had 4.2m at a fraction of the cost

So no to your op, it's just what media outlets do appeal to their audience

It will be interesting indeed. Two crazy, rich and powerful megalomaniacs. Imagine the fall out in the not too distant future, when they clash over who’s got the biggest willy.

Exactly which is why it's infuriating when they don't get the difference . Elon isn't just backing trump he is rigging the system
