Toddler gave my 12 week old jam!!

Was making jam tarts with the toddler and turned my back for all of 30 seconds to close the fridge - turned back to see the little bugger giving her 12 week old baby brother (sat in his bouncer) a bloody spoonful of strawberry jam!! 🫠

Do I need to do anything?!

No - assuming he didn’t choke or anything, he’ll be fine.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 08/11/2024 15:25

What would you do?

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 08/11/2024 15:25

He'll be fine!

No he didn't choked - he was delighted.

It's not ideal but probably fine.

I can't imagine a one off thing like this being an issue.

Keep an eye on baby and if worried call 111 for advice.

That is really sweet 😂

Aww! 🥰
Move the jam 😁

Singleandproud · 08/11/2024 15:29

It will be fine, but a reminder to the toddler that baby can't eat anything yet incase next time it's a small toy / chockable thing instead.

MaroonyBalloony · 08/11/2024 15:29

Your toddler sounds so sweet (sweet as jam haha)

Mine is a right feeder, will have to watch him with the new baby when it's born! Thanks for the warning :p

I bet 😂

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 08/11/2024 15:29

My oldest is 32. When he was a baby there was baby food available for babies from 12 weeks old, and because he was a big grizzly boy I was advised, by HV, to start weaning him then!

He's still alive 🙂

Moonlightstars · 08/11/2024 15:30

Love this.

Don't worry MIL gave us all of DHs weaning diaries. He ate his first rusk at 2 weeks (soaked in milk!), and by 8 weeks was eating blended cottage pie jars with smooth rice pudding with jam as a pudding 😜

He was born 11lbs and the midwife's told her to get him eating asap. He survived!

TBF one of my friends' parents was allegedly fed on nestle evaporated milk from birth.

Don't worry. Cute story for when they are older. Might make jam tarts this weekend... thanks for that!

My DH was. Apparently it was frequently advised in Glasgow in the 60s!
( I'm horrified!)

Minesril · 08/11/2024 16:16

It'll be chocolate spread next.

BibbityBobbityToo · 08/11/2024 16:17

What were called hungrier babies were being weaned at 6 weeks on 'baby rice' 30 years ago, HV approved...They'll be fine.

Whatever a hungrier baby was 🙄

That would be after dipping their dummy in condensed milk!

What are 111 going to do? HmmConfused

MammaKel · 08/11/2024 16:22

@fafanaticalfairy I said if OPs worried - the baby could have an allergic reaction or something but like I said in my previous post, it's probably fine.

schnubbins · 08/11/2024 16:25

My two and a half year old gave his 16 week old brother a handful of fries at Mc Donalds .I told him to mind him while I went quickly to get straws .I will never forget the younger ones face and the fries in his fist as he sucked on them . He was absolutely delighted .He was started on solids early as he was such a hungry chappie. He is 24 years old now so its a while ago but the fries didn't do him any harm .

doodleschnoodle · 08/11/2024 16:27

I think this is quite a common second child thing! DD1 not a morsel passed her lips till six months. DD2 I turned round for one second and DD1 was trying to feed her chocolate buttons at 3 months old Grin
