How often do you wake for a wee in the night?

I wake up at least once a night, sometimes twice. Without fail. It's super annoying. I don't drink tea after lunch (that just made me wee more) and try not to drink too much water in the evening, but still. Obviously when I was pregnant it was even worse.

I’m late 30s, had 2 kids, but I can’t remember the last time I went for a wee in the night.

Sparklytopattheready · 07/11/2024 20:35

3-4 times on average. Mid 50s but been this way for at least 10 years.

Scrimt · 07/11/2024 20:36

a couple of times a year. I'm 47

Don't limit drinks. Your busy holds on to more if it thinks you aren't drinking enough and that will be released in the night.

yep I’ve tried limiting drinks after 5pm but it actually makes it worse!

Verylazy · 07/11/2024 20:37

Maybe once or twice a week I get up once in the night. It’s a pain so must be awful for those who are up several times in a night.

Clocloxx · 07/11/2024 20:37

3 times a night, I'm 31 but like this all my life I only stopped wetting the bed when I was 10 😪

Sweepsthepillowclean · 07/11/2024 20:38

Never, no mater how much liquid I drink. Don’t know why.

SirChenjins · 07/11/2024 20:38

Once - mid fifties and it drives me mad, esp as I find it difficult to get back to sleep. Never used to and then the perimenopause hit.

Sortumn · 07/11/2024 20:38

Never, 47. I usually have a glass of water before bed.

Cece92 · 07/11/2024 20:38

I always go 11pm - my parents used to get me up this time every night when younger to pee so I didn't wet the bed. Then I wake up another twice sometimes. I have a weak bladder. I do work later so I think drinking water until 7 doesn't help xxxx

leftfootinletfootout · 07/11/2024 20:40

Usually twice, more if I drink anything before bed. I'm in my 50's and menopausal

MrsPeterHarris · 07/11/2024 20:40

Never - I'm 49.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 07/11/2024 20:40

Weirdly I can go 2 or 3 times in a night if I've had a "good day" in terms of what I've eaten but not at all if I've eaten lots of crap.

Clocloxx · 07/11/2024 20:41

dontforgetme · 07/11/2024 19:58

4+ times a night. It's really fucking annoying as I struggle to fall to sleep again and I'm exhausted all the time. I'm 32 and it's definitely got worse since turning 32!

Melatonin helps me drift back to sleep quicker! Even after waking up 3 times for a pee 😵‍💫

susiedaisy1912 · 07/11/2024 20:41

I'm 54 and wake twice a night these days.

Maraudingmarauders · 07/11/2024 20:43

1-3 times. If I'm up with the baby then pretty much every time I'm up. I also drink a huge amount over night (not diabetic, been checked). I'll easily drink one of those 1ltr water bottles. Which is obviously why I'm needing the loo but I can't cope without it.

thismummydrinksgin · 07/11/2024 20:45

Loads! I do drink a lot though and light sleeper.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 07/11/2024 20:46

Never, not even when pregnant. Mid-40s.

NotYourSaviour · 07/11/2024 20:48

At least twice, sometimes up to 4 times. It's bizarre as when working during the day I barely pee, but the minute I lie down I have the bladder volume of a guinea pig.

I also get a very dry mouth at night and gulp down 3 or 4 mouthfuls of water whenever I wake. I'm 52 and menopausal.

stargazerlil · 07/11/2024 20:49

going to the loo a lot during the night can be a sign of insulin resistance.ie pre diabetes

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/11/2024 20:51

When I started waking up to pee every night it was a sign I was diabetic, a blood test confirmed it and I was started on insulin straight away.

Deadringer · 07/11/2024 20:55

Almost never, as long as I don't have tea or coffee after about 8pm. I used to have a latte at 10 and woke up most nights but I have had to cut it out as I dont sleep very well. I am 60 btw

Lovemycat2023 · 07/11/2024 21:01

Never used to until recently. Now usually once a night. I try not to get annoyed as it’s very normal, and getting annoyed is what stops me getting back to sleep! I also have a nightlight on the landing so I don’t have to turn lights on.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 07/11/2024 21:09

Never, not even when pregnant. In fact, nobody does in this house thankfully as I'm quite a light sleeper and would take ages to get back off.

lifebyfaith · 07/11/2024 21:14

At least twice. I'm mid 40s with an irritable bladder
