How often do you wake for a wee in the night?

I wake up at least once a night, sometimes twice. Without fail. It's super annoying. I don't drink tea after lunch (that just made me wee more) and try not to drink too much water in the evening, but still. Obviously when I was pregnant it was even worse.

Once a night (mid 40's). Never pre kids!

Theoldcuriosityshop · 07/11/2024 19:20

Never, I'm 78.

Attelina · 07/11/2024 19:20

Never but I do have to wake up and take one of my dogs out for a week. Well actually I make them all go!

I always do it as I'm retired and my husband is still working and he works away a fair bit so it's just easier for me to round them all up!

Once every single night since I started drinking 3L each day. It is annoying, but I feel better drinking three litres. The worst is when you need to go and only have 30 mins or so left to sleep. Can't enjoy the 30 mins needing a wee urgently but also won't fall asleep again if I go.

Two or 3 times. I'm 65

Same. Post menopausal and 63. At least twice a night.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 07/11/2024 19:23

Just about every night. I drink a lot of water in the evenings, mainly because I am very restricted over times I can go to the toilet at work so I over drink in the evenings.

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 07/11/2024 19:25

Pretty much never. Once a month or so.

elliejjtiny · 07/11/2024 19:25

During my period week I usually don't. Week 1 and 2 after my period I will once, occasionally twice. Week before my period is 2 or 3 times. Goodness knows why but it's really weird.

Possibly water retention is reducing after your period. Mine starts to reduce about 3 days into my period and I pee more.

suburburban · 07/11/2024 19:28

At least once. It's worst when I'm going to work and then it's hard to get back to sleep

jellycat · 07/11/2024 19:29

Rarely (although more frequently than I did before the menopause) but if I’m woken by something I can’t get back to sleep without going. I always wake up pretty much bursting in the morning though. I do usually drink lots of water in the evening.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/11/2024 19:29

At least once, sometimes twice. It's why I hardly sleep.

RanchRat · 07/11/2024 19:31

In my 70's. If I don't have much liquid in the evenings and stick to water I can sleep through. If I have a cup of tea I need to wee 3-4 times. Beer, the same.
Wine, maybe one wee in the night.

rookiemere · 07/11/2024 19:11

In my 50s, generally once or twice a night. Minimum 6 times if camping with no easy access to a toilet.

Yep

LBFseBrom · 07/11/2024 19:33

A couple of times but I am nearly 75. I never used to. It doesn't bother me as long as I go back to sleep fairly quickly.

WeGoSlow · 07/11/2024 19:34

I never woke up until recently. Now I've hit my mid-50s I have to wee once in the night, occasionally twice. Thank you menopause & dropping oestrogen levels for that spiteful trick of nature!

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 07/11/2024 19:34

At least twice. It's a pain in the arse.

DinnaeFashYersel · 07/11/2024 19:35

Several to a dozen times

Always had a weak bladder
Peri menopausal
On Mounjaro - it's got worse since started that

Lost77 · 07/11/2024 19:35

Every time DD (5 months) wakes up I go for a wee!

space99 · 07/11/2024 19:36

Once or twice a night. I’m late forties. Been like this, since having children twenty years ago. It’s very annoying!

Moonlightdust · 07/11/2024 19:36

I rarely ever did in my 20’s but since mid/late 30’s I’d say once or twice. If I’ve had a hot drink in the evening or have fluid retention due to my cycle then sometimes more! It’s such a pain. It’s not just a trickle either - full bladder each time! 😬

Nowaysunshine · 07/11/2024 19:38

I've had this problem for quite a while, at least 8 years. Recently 'bought into' the hype around the Jude capsules which are supposed to help with too frequent going - after 2 months (bought 3 months supply) not a damn difference so I guess I'll just have to put up with it. Nurse friend of mine swears by the NHS bladder training programme so maybe I should try that next. Must admit the cold nights make it more unbearable getting out of bed a couple of times a night.

HydrangeaBush · 07/11/2024 19:38

Mid 40s and once a night usually (around 2am) and sometimes twice.

I have to be up 6.30 and would love to be able to sleep til 8!

Why do we wee more in menopause. Can we fix it??

WeregoingtoIbiza · 07/11/2024 19:39

Usually 2-3 times per night, sometime more if I've been drinking more water.

Before menopause, hardly ever.

villanova · 07/11/2024 19:40

Mid 50s, hardly ever, unless I've had alcohol, when I tend to wake at 4am, so go for a wee & glass of water. I drink fairly constantly through the day, but all decaff coffee & tea, or water. Waiting to see if the bladder ages, as I need reguar toilet visits during the day.
