Looks like Trump could win?

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

The world is a safer place for all of us if Putin is not cornered. If he feels more secure he is less likely to nuke. Ukraine has managed to drag the world to the point of war for the sake of a small and insignificant amount of land and overinflated ego of Zelenskyy. In a few years Putin will be dead anyway and very unlikely to be replaced by someone of his ilk.

I just don't how anyone can think he is a good candidate for president.

I think the point is he''s a terrible candidate and yet the Democrats are so out of touch they refused to listen to sensible objections and proceeded to anoint a candidate who has now lost to him. This should have been easy. The Democrats need to learn from this. The public do not care about campus politics. The public do not care about celebrity endorsements.

@Llhaaf well clearly you can only see directly in front of your nose if you are unable to process what another Trump presidency could mean for the world.

He stops support for Ukraine. Putin wins and is then emboldened to go after other countries in Europe who he threatens with nukes. This is no laughing matter. Unless you're an intellectual lightweight I guess.

I agree. I think it will absolutely be WWIII now.

He won’t care about the UK. Especially with a Labour PM. We have fucked off the EU with Brexit. I think a Trump win is an utter disaster for us.

I think I’m going to have to go ‘no news’ for four years.

Somehow I doubt Trump will be complaining that the machines don't work this time around. The election process is sound as a pound as long as he wins. 🤣

LizzieSiddal · 06/11/2024 06:37

Just thinking of the people of Ukraine, Putin will be delighted if predictions are true. I wonder what country will be next for Putin?

BlastedPimples · 06/11/2024 06:38

@LifeExperience "Americans are split on abortion. Most are okay with it up to a point, but Harris ran on abortion up to the day of birth,"

Please can you show me where Harris ran on this abortion up to day of birth? I've been looking and can't find anything.

And abortion is not a left / right wing issue. Plenty of people on both sides have various views regardless of their economic inclinations.

I feel like I did in June 2016 again.

That didn’t happen last time and it won’t happen now.

As for financial support, Ukraine have had billions upon billions. Time to end this war.

Perfect28 · 06/11/2024 06:39

@Savemydrink it's entirely unsurprising that you would mention the 'students identifying as cats' thing which has been proven countless times to be nonsense and a hoax, and yet right wingers continually use it as an argument.

Demonstrates I guess the level of debate and intelligence on that side.

This isn't amount democracy, or left and right, it's about decency.

We’re witnessing the death throes of American world power now. The problem for the rest of us is the inevitable power vacuum and who will fill it.

Yes, thank you for articulating this in a nutshell. Very true.

And that’s how bullies win. When we give them a fucking inch they take a mile. You must be a Russian bot. Utter drivel.

Russia invaded Ukraine.

Looks like Trump could win?
MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/11/2024 06:39

Fuck, that's really not the news I was wanting to wake up to.

Lived in NY for 3 years and worked in a bank with loads of educated people.

One thing about Americans is that they mainly look out for themselves, people want lower taxes and any financial decision that will benefit them.

I was there during Obama’s first election and some were truly terrified about what he’d do to their country with his ‘socialist’ ideas.

we hear about the South supporting him but he would never make it without America’s middle class’ vote.

The vast majority of non-Americans do not care as much about this election as they seem to due to concern or care for the average American.

Most non-Americans care (that much!) because we know that this election will affect us or causes important to us. Our economies, international trade, the security of Europe, the war in Ukraine etc. For others it’s Taiwan, Gaza…

we hear about the South supporting him but he would never make it without America’s middle class’ vote. I strongly agree.

Perfect28 · 06/11/2024 06:40

@Llhaaf you're a UK teacher who is glad that a racist rapist is about to be voted into power?

Help us. Stop the train, I want to get off.

And first convicted felon.

I hate Trump personally for his probable sexual assaults & proved misogyny. But imo he's the sort of person who says outrageously unpleasant things but doesn't follow them through, mostly. Otoh the election riot was followed through, further than most supporters believed.
That is actually the crux for me. I personally would support withdrawing from Gaza if there were a viable plan to facilitate peace talks. I feel uneasy about the Ukraine war, buy more so about Trump's ties w Putin. But it's unconsciencable for someone who tried to overthrow democracy to be President again. His stance on climate change is v worrying too.

Did Kamala really support abortion up to birth? What the hell? Why wasn't someone else suggested?

Words fail me. Who are you to say the Ukrainians should have given up their land? What next after? Which other countries should give a little bit to that dictator.

TheFairyCaravan · 06/11/2024 06:41

Well the world has just become, a lot more unsafe. He’ll hand over Ukraine to his mate Putin, by withdrawing all support from them. This in turn will give Putin the green light to trample over whatever countries he wants to, Then there’s NATO, heavens only knows what he will do there, It makes me feel sick. But as long as you csn laugh at that the lefties, eh?

EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime · 06/11/2024 06:41

Who did the 100 odd Labour volunteers help?

Just asking….

Morons. Trump will doubtless pay Starmer back.

SnakesAndArrows · 06/11/2024 06:41

Pumpkinspawn · 06/11/2024 06:07

No it's not, she should have graciously thanked her supporters & congratulated the incoming president.

Yeah, like Trump did in 2020.

Oh, wait…

Applebumblebee · 06/11/2024 06:41

LifeExperience · 06/11/2024 06:34

It's not sexism. There's some of that to be sure, but she ran a terrible campaign and never focused on the issues that in poll after poll the American people were saying were more important.

Americans are split on abortion. Most are okay with it up to a point, but Harris ran on abortion up to the day of birth, which is way further to the left than all but the most rapid leftists.

Thank you

Lyannaa · 06/11/2024 06:42

Well according to Trump the war will now be over in 24 hours - let's see how that actually goes. 🤣🥱
