Looks like Trump could win?

Kittykat86 · 06/11/2024 03:49

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

@sallysallysal 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I was replying to another poster. Not comparing Trump to Hitler. 😂 😂😂😂😂😂

Halfwit.

yeah, that makes sense. 🤔🤔

BlastedPimples · 07/11/2024 00:24

@sallysallysal halfwit, where did I say I was comparing Trump to Hitler?

I think you will find nowhere.

yes, I did. I assume you're one of those who dismiss Trump supporters as racists, nazis and evil corrupt halfwits, as you've delightedly described me? Do you realise that you and people like you, are exactly why Trump is back in the White House? Do you even care?

sallysallysal · 07/11/2024 00:34

or are you very disingenuously pasting a link to a Hitler news article whilst at the same time innocently claiming your sharing of said story has nothing to do with Trump's victory? You wouldn't be the first! 🤔🤣

BlastedPimples · 07/11/2024 00:37

Be very very careful with your assumptions.

BlastedPimples · 07/11/2024 00:38

I didn't describe you as racists, nazis and evil corrupt. Merely a halfwit. Which you are.

You perhaps need to spend a little more time looking at the overriding statistics and reasons for those later abortions rather than the sly implication that women do it lightly. Having said that - think very carefully about limiting women’s bodily autonomy based on the scenarios which you find palatable. Odd though, the right was rabid about bodily autonomy when it came to vaccinations and masks and obsessed about fetuses rights but not so bothered about gun laws when they’re the number one cause of death of children in the US. Go figure?

I didnt suggest for a second the decision to have an abortion is taken lightly. It is an extremely serious & traumatic undertaking which woman has a right to consider.

With the greatest of respect to matters of opinion which everyone is entitled to,24 weeks gestation is too late. Every situation should be given consideration but at 24 weeks gestation a baby is viable. All I'm saying is unless there is a serious situation & a legitimate reason for late stage abortion bring the maximum gestation down to the point where a baby cannot be saved & perhaps people would be less opposed to it.

Well let’s see, as someone put earlier:

When he lost the last election he tried to stage a coup, and then left with sensitive files.

He was convicted of fraud, found liable of sexual assault and convicted of 34 felonies. He is half a billion dollars in debt, owned by God only knows who, and the biggest national security risk the nation has ever had.

That’s before we get into mocking disabled people, racist comments about the Obamas, Harris and multiple others. We have ‘grabbing women by the pussy’ and separating immigrant children from their parents (many of who were never reunited - have a think about that given you’re on Mumsnet). I could go on for days.

So, if you support him or voted for him, which bit of racist, Nazi and evil corrupt halfwit is being disagreed with? Perhaps nazi is a little specific, but the rest? If the MAGA cap fits…

Miniopolis · 07/11/2024 02:58

Something additional that’s shocked me today is how many people on Mumsnet (and British social media in general) support a man like Trump. A convicted felon who’s openly racist, abusive towards disabled people, sexist and talks about assaulting women as though it’s a fun pasttime, etc. I don’t think this would have been the case a few years ago.

I think the bigger message is - if the man is half of what you say - 72 million people would rather have him in the White House, than a person representing the woke, virtue-signalling, gender-fluid coastal elites.

Just look at the map.

What does that say about the Democrats???

No. If you vote or support a racist, sexist, convicted felon then it’s not about what somebody else did or didn’t do, it’s about the fact that you support a racist, sexist convicted felon. Every individual that voted made that decision for themselves. And do I believe that there are that many people that are racist and sexist? Well, I do now. And the responses we’re getting on these threads makes me realize why.

There is nothing that could make me support a man like him. No pile of excuses in the world.

Yes.

Shouting louder doesn’t make your point any more valid. I ask again, following your logic, what happened so that 72 mn Americans voted for the man you say he is, versus Harris. To suggest they are all lazy and/or racist is precisely how out of touch Biden, Harris (and Obama) were. Like Labour in the UK, or the Brexit remainers, with their sneering superiority - we know best etc. Well, guess what, you dont.

How did the Democrats screw up so badly, that you have Trump.

Only when you have answered that question will you have the POTUS you want.

EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime · 07/11/2024 04:51

Here, let me help you.

This post was written by a young person during campaigning. It’s merely an example, but it gives you some idea.

‘’I'm young and Democratic policies have had a direct negative effect on my life. More immigrants means the price of housing goes up and entry level jobs become difficult to get. And that's ignoring the inflation that they've directly caused by useless spending (e.g. 43 billion spent with not 1 person connected to internet when a solution already exists with starlink).

I graduated into the worst time for tech. I got a job but most others did not. DEI has made it harder as well, from college admissions to job prospects. And I grew up poorer than the people I know who are able to take advantage of that. So just a general shift away from that. Other culture war stuff such as trans in sports I'm generally right as well but that doesn't impact me directly. The COVID lockdowns ruined years of college and those were pushed for by the left. Now we pretend it doesnt exist like we should've from the beginning. And related to this, they lied to us and engaged in censorship of true information.

I want someone who's not going to provoke war on the fringes of Europe when Europe is just a relic that's quickly becoming irrelevant. If they want war, they can foot the bill and face the ramifications. And war related, the antisemitism of the left absolutely disgusts me and is endemic to their ideology of anti-colonialism.

I'd prefer someone who doesn't waste money on useless social programs like housing illegal immigrants for months while our disenfranchised are left to rot. Someone who wants to reduce government spending so I'm not left holding the bag years from now because some Boomers wanted to feel good about themselves. Someone who will stand up to multinational organizations. Id rather have a businessmsn with a vision than a career politician whos just playing the game.

I want someone who puts America and Americans first."

This was said on another thread:
"when the Right does something, it's the Left's fault for not stopping them hard enough.
It chimed so very closely with the Rules of Misogyny: that when a man does something bad, it's a woman's fault."

Blaming of the left, for the fact that a sexist, racist is now in power in the US. There was a choice not to vote, rather than vote for Trump.

I’m not shouting. You must be aware of that, presumably. I’m not saying the world and all political parties are not flawed in many ways. What I’m saying is Trump is not the solution to the above problem. He’s not the solution to any problem. He is so clearly and absolutely criminal and despicable in every way that no manner of ‘but, look over there!’ is going to excuse it.

Unfortunately, many did appear to do that, not vote instead of not / vote for Trump. I think that was somewhat cowardly to be honest, they should’ve voted for Harris.

100% agree with you regarding the rules of misogyny, it literally is that.

No, he’s not the cure, for sure - but he is symptomatic. We are here for a reason.

People speak about ‘lived lives’ i.e. the daily grind of paying bills, of commuting, of job security, of healthcare etc. Most of them couldn’t give a fig about gender identity or renewable energy - it just doesn’t appear on their hierarchy of needs. And they certainly dont need distant politicians telling them they are bigoted or ignorant.

I speak from a UK perspective.

Anyhow, I wish you a great day.

It's bonkers how close some of them can be, I remember Biden winning Georgia by 13,000 votes - out of a population of 11 million registered voters or 0.24 of 1%

I would just like to see anything closer, less than 1%, be double-checked. I know it wouldn't change the results, all in all, but it would still be a smart move.

RingoJuice · 07/11/2024 05:52

What I’m saying is Trump is not the solution to the above problem. He’s not the solution to any problem

He’s offered some very real solutions. I think he will push back on DEI, which will be very welcome. Since we are not part of the ECHR we can actually do (and have done) mass deportations and yank away TPS status for Haitians, Hondurans and El Salvadorians, et al. I am excited to see what the final results will be over tariffs, this used to be how America raised funds in the past. There’s a lot I am personally optimistic over

Peregrina · 07/11/2024 08:57

As to The Rise of Hitler. Was not voted in democratically.

If anyone actually reads the article start with the headline:
How Hitler Used Democracy to Take Power

This sentence then stood out:

In helping explain the Weimar Republic’s tilt into fascism, I used to cite an observation by Hans Frank, Hitler’s private attorney, who helped engineer the strategy to disable democratic processes through constitutional means. Frank became complicit in Germany’s wartime atrocities, including the murder of millions of Jews, for which he was hanged.

So yes, he was elected - he wasn't part of e.g. a military coup - he worked the system.

And even if a person is elected, the electorate may well find that they have picked unwisely, although they may not find that out until later.

This is a different situation in many ways, but w some similarities. My family are partly Polish. 4 years ago, 'new neighbours' announced they were moving in but renovating first. The 'renovations' have taken 4 years. We know they were lying about moving in, we knew that since we saw it was back on the market 2 weeks after they came round! Unfortunately there's a group of property developers in my area who just sell the houses on, developing each time, to make more & more money. The building works are v noisy & worse, raise a lot of dust inside our house, which makes my & my mum's asthma worse, & we suspect the shaking has affected the structure of our house. (I've tried to persuade my mum to take it up w the council, but she insists it won't do any good)
The builders are all Polish. I'm not really angry at them- until recently Poland had PIS, there's the constant threat from Putin, & the economy isn't great.. I'm angry at the people in charge who've taking advantage
I don't understand why solidarity w people who share a characteristic w you is seen as so bad by conservatives. It seems a bit Ayn Rand-ish 'let's all be out for ourselves' . If they're so Christian, what happened to 'Love thy neighbour as thyself' etc?

So I can see partly why many US-born or immigrated Latinos feel angry that illegal immigrants didn't wait properly & are taking up money & resources. I can understand the anger here too about the people in boats. We only have so much money, space etc. But there needs to be a middle way where people are treated w compassion. Slogans like 'Build the wall' & banding about that Mexicans were 'rapists' & 'losers' were guaranteed to stir up bigotry. The Democrats should've been focusing on helping alleviate the situation in Mexico themselves rather than expecting ordinary people to bear the brunt. A lot of them are rolling in money, after all.
If you had been born w a life & prospects like the illegal immigrants, who's to say you wouldn't ve immigrated illegally? I spoke to a Mexican man on reddit who said he was angry w the illegal immigrants but also had sympathy, esp knowing many end up trafficked & that the process is v slow & difficult for Mexicans, partly bc of the illegal immigrants. A vicious cycle..
