Looks like Trump could win?

Kittykat86 · 06/11/2024 03:49

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

@ChallahPlaiter

I'm still left wing. Just not loonie left wanting kids sterilised and mutilated. Or rapists in female jails. Or women punched in the ring by men.

How do you square this with actively celebrating a rapist in the White House, in arguably the most powerful position in the world?

Or do you honestly believe that all the allegations of sexual assault and rape against him are false?

Trump may be an odious rapist, arguably punishing a single individual for past crimes for which they’ve not been criminally convicted is less important than preventing the future mutilation of children. That’s the cold, hard logic of it.

ChallahPlaiter · 06/11/2024 10:27

OneLemonGuide · 06/11/2024 10:14

And it’s precisely that attitude and lack of understanding which is why Trump won.

Probably a bit more to do with the unprecedented amount spent on campaigning, the social media misinformation that Musk put forward on Trump’s behalf, the way that Trump used his last presidency to fatally blur the distinction between truth and lies, rampant populism…

Maybe not one person calling another an idiot in understandable frustration.

There’s no logic to it. Trump separated children as young as toddlers from their parents, in many cases permanently. He wants to reverse Biden’s gun control laws in the knowledge that guns have often been used to kill children and young people in US schools and colleges. He’s going to encourage the likes of Putin in their murderous regimes. He’s going to allow gas and oil companies to destroy our planet.

Like hell does he care about kids.

I doubt women in the US think the abortion laws now being implemented are ‘entertaining’.

Of course they won’t! I think you misunderstood.

Which country?

But this is what America wanted. He's won quite convincingly. So they they get exactly what they voted for. No need to feel sorry for anyone.

These comments saying,'They got what they wanted. Be happy democracy worked.' are being very disingenuous. I am not calling all Trump supporters Nazis, that's a gross misrepresentation. What I am saying is that Hitler, & other evil leaders, were democratically elected, despite showing clear signs of their bad intentions. We don't need to celebrate a democratic decision, just accept it. I wouldn't celebrate if PIS had won another term in Poland (I'm dual nationality). Luckily, they didn't. I wouldn't celebrate either if Boris were voted in again after that shitshow during Covid.
How can people be so blasé about a man who egged on Qanon-drunk crowds to storm the Capitol, wielding guns & a gallows to hang Pence? Law and Order, indeed, par excellence.

I have to say the 'historic' felt like more than convention required.

He could have congratulated him on his 'election victory' rather than 'historic election victory', surely?

It is a historic victory though.

First time a known rapist is elected President
First time a convicted felon is elected president
First time someone who has threatened to change the law so there are no more elections or he can stay on line than 2 terms is rejected president.

Historic isn't necessarily a compliment here.

Have the dead voted yet?

Frightened for your daughters? They’re called “birthing people” by the Democrats. How does that support women and girls when they cannot even be named?

Surely that's not true & if it is it's absolutely abhorrent.

Israel has a right to eliminate the terrorist threats that murdered over 1400 of their citizens and took 150 odd hostages, and has killed most of them.
The terrorists are STILL firing rockets into Israel and killing their citizens.

In fact a Trump presidency might bring it to an end. Biden supported Israel.

Edited

That’s fine, except that all Palestinians are considered legitimate targets. There is no differentiation between Palestinian and HAMAS ‘terrorist threat’ for the purpose of target selection and elimination.
NICU’s in hospitals have been bombed as legitimate targets. And you still have not even a bleep on your moral compass to say, “am I really fully on board with this”?

Legitimizing killing in this way, and carrying it out is genocide.

This article is short but really interesting on why Trump won more black & Latino men's votes than before. He didn't win a majority of either, but given Biden's clumsy grasp on the economy, they felt Trump would help them more. They're working v hard in mainly manual labour jobs for little money, & all Harris can do is offer marijuana.
The problem is that the Democrats aren't like Roosevelt or Kennedy (though perhaps he's not the best example). They've lost the common touch. They're losing women bc of the trans agenda. Losing black & Latino mem bc they can't see that it's more likely economic worries than sexism that motivated the Trump swing (most still voted Harris, after all). Trump hopefully will not repeal gay marriage (not sure tho), so they're losing gay voters bc of the trans agenda. They've stopped being truly progressive & are just expecting to be bowed down to on the strength of predecessors' achievements, which they couldn't hold a candle to. I honestly don't know what I would've voted. One of the main issue is: will Trump cave to Project 2025's demands, or tone them down?

Morally, it sticks in the craw to vote Trump into office after Jan 6. But arguably the Democrats are just as bad, in an underhanded way, for concealing Biden's dementia for goodness knows how long. The whole lot are liars & criminals.

Don’t worry, it’s just a cycle. Trump promises his version of the Garden of Eden, the voters fall for it, it won’t happen (this being real life), he’ll be out next time round….

Rinse and repeat with the other party and so on and so on and so on.....

Kemi is making mincemeat out of Starmer at PMQ’s re the North London activists he sent to support Harris.

That's how it used to be. Republicans ruined the country, Democrats came in and fixed it. Republicans came back in and did their usual nonsense, Democrats fixed it. Not an opinion, it's history. But if you don't see why this time is different you clearly haven't been paying attention or watching the news. Trump won't leave, his backwards supreme court has given him dictatoresque powers and he being the petty little manchild that he is, will use that to strike down anybody who disagrees with him. No more conversations, no more capable people running the govt, just incompetent shit bags looking to profit to the detriment of the people (look at the list of people he had last time, none remotely capable of doing the jobs he gave them and rfk junior and elon musk this time). On top of that he will soon have the power to stack the supreme court with conservatives and send America back to the stone age. This wasn't a scenario with any other previous Republican, so yeah, it's bad.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the whole mass deportation thing. If those Latinos who voted for him end up losing their visas and green cards, see their families split up and family members deported. I guess that will be their just desserts and most, including myself, will be too tired to give a fuck.

Well if the "Stone Age" is reaffiming that women's sports women's toilets, changing rooms & private spaces are for biological females only bring it on!
If it means children will no longer be pumped with hormones & allowed mutilate healthy breasts & penis in the name of gender ideology surely that is a positive too!
