Looks like Trump could win?

Kittykat86 · 06/11/2024 03:49

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

He’s no puppet to Putin. Putin is on record as disliking Trump. The Ukraine situation has gone on far too long. Something needs to be done rather that people just watching from the sidelines, throwing in a few weapons here and there. It’s a disgrace that nearly two years down the line the battle in Ukraine is still going on.

Yes ge dislikes him so much that he actively has been pumping people trump propaganda onto you guys all the evidence shows that. He actively dislikes him that on record on the radio the Russian spokesperson was happy if trump wins oh yes . Trump said he doesn't wanna help Ukraine to

2 terms max for US Presidents (thank heavens)

For now. Looks like he has control of all 3 arms of legislature so all bets are off.

So..what does this mean for NATO? Because if Trump is pro-Putin, and won't support Ukraine...where does that leave NATO?

I don't mind admitting I feel frightened right now. What does this mean for the world?

I think another poster got it in a nutshell when she said that America will no longer be a world superpower and the UK is going to have to start figuring out our own foreign policy and build a better relationship with Europe.

The days of the UK just nodding along with America are over. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does mean that our government needs to think long and hard. So it's therefore good we have actual adults in charge at the moment instead of self interested, prancing elephants.

Because people didn’t want Harris and he was the only other choice. It is a weird argument to run to say you have to vote for someone nicer even if you hate most of the policies. There was a choice of only 2 candidates!

Yes, voting for president shouldn’t be voting for the most worthy individual. It’s voting for someone who you believe will be the best for your country.

Lyannaa · 06/11/2024 07:52

Yes, this will be his second and final term.

Not if he changes the law... this is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Ukraine was part of a Soviet Union, when I was a kid living in Communist Czechoslovakia.
Feminism wasn't talked about and wokeness was unknown.
Do you know what? I had a good life there, and life went on.
Hopefully, America can start healing now.
Trump should be a bit younger, though, to make a proper difference.
Only regret I live in the UK, under this current establishment.

Well fuck off then seriously conservatives ruined this country go and live in Russia if you think it's so great

Nope, as I posted earlier, the constitution would need to change and that requires 2/3rd majorities in both houses and 3/4s of states to approve.

He can’t change the law to do this… It would require a change to the US constitution…. 2/3rd majorities in both the House and Senate, and 3/4s of states to approve. That clearly won’t happen.

dottiehens · 06/11/2024 07:55

Won the popular vote. Incredible performance!

Campingholidays · 06/11/2024 07:56

I started watching last night (bbc coverage) and the majority of voters for trump were citing the cost of living and how expensive food etc is under the Biden administration. Is it really that bad over there? Or do Americans not tend to look beyond their own borders to see that the cost of living is increasing in just about every other country as well?

The “wokeness” grew dramatically under Trump’s first term. It came from the universities and popular media, not the government.

Yes he’ll probably win brilliant news.

Notquitethere60 · 06/11/2024 07:59

It’s depressing what people will actually support. He’s planning tariffs and deportation as well as ending the war in Ukraine. Let’s see what actually happens.

Utterly disgraceful comment. Learn some history. Read some books.

Sadly Trump is Putin's puppet. The leaders of rogue nations are well aware than all they need to do is flatter Trump and he will wilfully turn a blind eye to their activities. Trump will have his hands full with the logistics of carrying out his promise to deport immigrants and the economic repercussions of that. America will pay a heavy price for his isolationism.

34 felonies
Found liable for sexual assault
Boasted about how he just 'grabs em by the pussy'

Hardly controversial so many people are upset someone the above applies to has been voted in, is it?

If the list above had been about Harris, Trump voters would absolutely have been saying there's no way she should be able to run for president.

He's sickening.

True

@tamade "Yes Russia invaded Ukraine, but was that the start of history? Did Putin wake up on the morning of the 22nd of Feb 2022 and decide to invade Ukraine?
Or were there other events a timeline of weeks, months, years or decades leading up to Russia's demands and then invasion?"

I'm sure Putin planned it a lot before Feb 2022.

Invasion of a sovereign country is not justifiable.

But you carry on trying to justify the indefensible. You'll be a doing a lot of that over the next four years. Good practice.

If you use the quote button, the other person's comment will appear in it's entirety and there won't be any misunderstandings. Like for instance the bit where I said 'I'm not saying Russia was right to invade'

Who is going to be invading where over the next 4 years? Trump? And what makes you think I would believe it is justified or that I can do much to stop it from where I am?

Pumpkincozynights · 06/11/2024 08:02

I’ll be honest I don’t know much about either of their policies or how the voting system works in the USA. I can only imagine Trump had won due to what my old History teacher once said and that is; people vote for themselves. So if people have strong views about X and Trump us the candidate which supports X then that overrides any other aspect about him.
People are the same all over the world. Deep, deep down they care most about themselves and if Trump can save them a bit of money ( for example) then they will vote for him despite the other candidate perhaps being a better person.

I do actually she was gonna stop proce gauging by supermarkets that have put prices up for no reasons. She was gonna help you find people buy houses give them help. She was gonna make it like they have done by making insulin 35 dollars a month not 800 as it was to other health care things to help Americans

Edited

Thes are things which they could have done at any point in the last 4 years?

She was campaigning against the policies they already had.

What does that matter ? What is do know is that society benefits from a gov that helps .

KenAdams · 06/11/2024 08:03

But this is what America wanted. He's won quite convincingly. So they they get exactly what they voted for. No need to feel sorry for anyone.
