Looks like Trump could win?

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

According to The Literacy Project, the average American has the reading age of around 13, which goes quite some way to explaining the current situation.

18% of American adults are functionally illiterate, which explains even further.

We're not far behind.

https://literacytrust.org.uk/parents-and-families/adult-literacy/

16.4% in English, 26.7% in Scotland, 12% in Wales, and 17.4% in Ireland score below the lowest level for reading (although how that level is defined varies).

The general guidance for information leaflets is that the average reading age in the UK is 9-11.

As it looks likely Trump will be voted President that is who the world works with for the next four years.

Why he is voted in, that takes longer.

Rational debate on both sides is the only way to progress.

Many people across the world feel left behind, but the super wealthy look after their own. Right now it feels like if you can weave in the belief that "others" are the reason for your problems, then you win.

Whose going to stop the media moguls now?

It will continue to be a bumpy ride.

Super wealthy he was promising tax cuts to the rich his policies in his last turn made richer Americans richer and poorer ones poorer they are the facts. His tariffs idea will put an average of 4000 on average American costs. I have looked this stuff up

Well there's been plenty of brown skinned people who have voted for him shown on the news coverage so what do you call them?

It's comments like this that push people into voting, Biden also did Trump a favour by calling Trump supporters garbage.

To be fair to the senile old man, he just got his words or sentence mixed up. He should have stood down 2 years ago, but his disgusting wife let him continue to be wheeled out despite his mental inability to make a coherent sentence.

Harris did NOTsay abortion ok up till delivery term

This is typical trump lying and twisting

. Let’s see him end Ukraine in a ‘ Day ‘ as he claimed and fix everyone’s salaries without nosediving the economy.

like us, it’ll go blue again in four years when the reds f u

I doubt it. Unfortunately, a Trump win means there’s a strong likelihood that the USA won’t hold free elections for many years to come.

Well, I'm sorry, but you are obviously uneducated. Because right now, we have a crisis. In the fact that people are not having children, we need the immigration. I'm sorry, but we do to do the jobs. And any economy needs that to keep on rolling. That's why actually in america, they are doing so well under biden, because actually they have so many jobs

You deduce I am uneducated from my post? (You mean like Angela Rayner?). I would be happy to educate you on basic economics, for starters -
before moving on to macroeconomics and monetary policy etc.

‘We do to do the jobs’?
What does that even mean?

BunfightBetty · 06/11/2024 07:28

They’ll be rubbing their hands together with glee in the Kremlin.

AuntieStella · 06/11/2024 07:28

I'm watching US coverage via SKY, and Trump's about to start speaking

And yes it looks like a victory rally of what he's just called "the greatest political movement of all time" and how he's going to "heal" the country.

orangegato · 06/11/2024 07:28

This is the problem. The left don’t have a fucking clue that not everyone agrees with them. Silent majority and all that 🫣

Excited for the liberal meltdowns. America dodged a bullet today!

RingoJuice · 06/11/2024 07:29

Abortion is no longer a national issue. Texas can use the democratic process to legalize it if they want (but they likely won’t, they are very conservative there).

I think Starmer will continue to seek closer alignment to the EU - hes not a natural Trump bedfellow and doubtless the volunteer debacle will be paid back by Trump.

I remain bearish the UK whilst we have Labour in.

I agree. It makes a lot of sense to turn toward Europe on the credible basis that the world trade environment has significantly changed.

Tell me you don't know shit about American governing by this comment? You do know that states can enacting their own laws because the supreme court over turned roe vs wade and that was because Donald Trump loaded the judges with loads of Republicans? And then it was over to the states to decide what they wanted to do. In individual states, the President could not do anything about that. That is not how it works in america, but again, you guys a f ignorant. As usual

Well said @Lougle - it’s daft to paint US voters as somehow thicker than the rest of us, because we’re no better academically.

I’m totally surprised at the result and intrigued about the reasons behind it, esp non-white voters seemingly turning out for Trump.

I do remember everyone shouting about it being the end of civilisation last time he got in and it in the end it wasn’t particularly - a bumpy ride ahead though as someone said above.

Most of that sounds like misinformation to me. If I were you, I would do some of my own research on those things before quoting them.

I’ve done plenty of research on this. That’s why I’m not surprised the US voted for Trump over Harris. They didn’t vote for him because they’re all knuckle-dragging racists or deluded fools as so many ignorant and arrogant Europeans think.

Wanted Harris to win but have always suspected it would be Trump.
Worse still no doubt, i think this will give Johnson hope of making a political comeback in the UK...

purdypuma · 06/11/2024 07:31

And of course Farage if his Bestie across the pond is the new president.

You are looking a bit silly here aren't you. It was the Trump imposed judges that overturned abortion laws meaning states could ban abortion. He set it up when he was in power last time.

I am appalled that a man of his low morals and with a criminal background is about to lead a country.

Very scary for the world.

What is wrong with people?

AlisonDonut · 06/11/2024 07:33

Today is going to be the most momumental epic meltdown of the Loonie Left [which I am incidentally historically part of] and I am going to enjoy every last fucking minute of it.

This is your fault the Loonie Left. You went too far, you sterilised and mutilated kids and I cannot wait for them to start coming after you. You need to be in jail.

You DEI merchants selling your divisive racist sexist homophobic bullshit, you need to be ripped out of your comfortable tax funded jobs and let people with actual skills get back on with their jobs. Go pick up a sweeping brush and do something fucking useful.
