Looks like Trump could win?

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

It’s not a vote from Trump - it’s a vote against The Dems. Just like it was here.

All very predictable. Sadly (but not for those of us who voted for Trump getting back in in the work sweepstakes!)

This man would not piss on you if you were on fire.

This. I will never understand how people who vote for him, even if they clearly don’t give a shit about anyone else, think for one second he genuinely wants anything good for anybody but himself. He disgusts me. And, to be honest, so do all that voted for him.

You completely misunderstand the broader point.

Its about money, power and influence. Trump is a businessman first and foremost - arguably a bad one but nonetheless.

Musks support was crucial - he looks at the election through the same lens.

Absolutely, she had loads of celebrities like Paul Rudd out in colleges trying to keep students in line to vote. Pathetic. She needed so much "celebrity" endorsement & it got her nowhere. I'm delighted that Trump will probably win. I think it is wonderful for females that he had not been captured by gender ideology & has a very direct plan to stop males infiltrating female sports, toilets, changing rooms, prisons & all our protected female only areas.

Did you miss Elon Musk handing out $$$ to people to vote?! Trump and Hulk hogan? He's pretty fond of a celeb endorsement himself when he's got one.

Think Anerica has show its true self and its honestly frightening so many Americans listen to him and think, yep, he's got my vote.
Im honestly concluding people in the US aren't right in the head.

I'm sure millions upon millions of females voted for him too! What a comeback!

You do know women vote against their better situation?

Overtheatlantic · 06/11/2024 06:55

Trump supporters tend to be uneducated rednecks who hate brown skin. Fact.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/11/2024 06:56

I'm really losing faith in humanity this morning. The fuckwittery here on MN doesn't help. I can't be arsed to engage with it, but it is so depressing to witness.

AliasGrace47 · 06/11/2024 06:56

I hang out on lesbian subreddits a bit, & quite a few want to vote Trump as they hate the trans agenda (as do I) & think he won't hurt lgb rights, as last time he didn't.
Honestly I believe that he's a megalomaniac who will often do & ally w whatever gets him most support from his targets, no matter his actual beliefs. I'd imagine privately he's not a dogmatic Project 2025-er, but he may not card to rein in those who are.

Waffle78 · 06/11/2024 06:56

Whoever voted for Trump needs their head looking at. And why is there only 2 candidates? Even we have more options and we're a tiny island in comparison. It will be a disaster for the US and UK with him being so friendly with that Natzi Putin. Even Larry the cat hid under his limo at Downing Street and refused to meet him. He makes my flesh crawl.

Thank you for patronising me again. Deja vu. It’s boring. Do you do this to people in real life or do you find they tend to get quite busy.

Channellingsophistication · 06/11/2024 06:57

Horrendous news this morning - a very bad day for the world if Trump gets in again. Dread to think what it means re the wars going on.

He’ll pardon himself of his crimes and I think he’ll try and change the rules so he can do more than two terms.

What is wrong with the American people?
He’s like a cult leader! Completely taken people in its just bizarre. He couldnt care a jot for any of them!

EasternStandard · 06/11/2024 06:57

I heard Iowa declare in the middle of the night, which went against that surprise poll

Then talk of numbers lower for Harris

Looks like betting got it right, Nate Silver too but Allan Lichtman’s keys were off

dottiehens · 06/11/2024 06:57

About the teacher concern about racism. I heard a teen saying he won’t go to a university here in the U.K. as it was full of white people, private school twats and not enough diversity. This is the kind of thing we are living here. He was white as chalk btw. I also do not want shit like this for my kids to be part of. It is hateful and helps no one. You can be inclusive and up for diversity without hating whites or people educational choices . In America where this started with Obama people had enough of this non sense.

Matronic6 · 06/11/2024 06:57

I'm not surprised but I am disgusted with the results.

Just thinking of the people of Ukraine, Putin will be delighted if predictions are true. I wonder what country will be next for Putin?

Promise to build a statue of Trump, put cash in his bank account and say nice things about him - Trump would let him have Alaska.

I think you need to look at the quite frankly historic numbers of people with their own brown skin who have voted for him this election.

Oh. 24 weeks and up till the day of birth are very different. Which is correct?

Could it be 24 weeks, or up until birth if the baby is disabled, that's the law in the UK

@Llhaaf if you are a British teacher, I thank God you are nowhere near my child.

This attitude sums it up perfectly. God forbid that you should be able to have a different viewpoint and vote for someone different to me.

maybe if you wean yourself off mainstream media you’ll understand why Trump was voted in.

Turns out calling your voters nazis and garbage doesn’t get you elected, who knew!

Right wing ideology? Do you mean people who are educated & have enough common sense to know that a biological male can never be a female & should not be trying to infiltrate women's sports.

Are these "right wing" people very concerned adults who will not stand by & let innocent children be pumped up with hormones & undertake castration & breast mutilation in the name of gender ideology?

I don’t agree with gender ideology either but think the climate and the spectre of war is a far more pressing issues that will lead to significant loss of life if not addressed.

Also I don’t think you will get rid of the noise about gender ideology (which took off in Trump’s first term) because they have Hollywood and the universities. Unless Project 2025 involves an ideological take over? Nothing would surprise me any more!

I'm genuinely confused this time. Why???

Up until this point I have only rationalised it by thinking that the majority of the American population must simply be uneducated and/or stupid. But I am starting to think there is something else I need to be aware of.

Can anyone explain to me why Americans have voted this way?

Genuine question- and at this point I'm honestly willing to listen and learn, because obviously the Democrats are getting something majorly wrong that I'm just not aware of. How can they have failed so badly as to warrant at Trump victory?

This is very depressing 😥

Many don’t really like Trump as a person, but see the direction of the country as more important than the man.

Trunp voters felt Harris presidency :

a) wouldn’t have firm action on the border and would allow the country to continue to be flooded with illegal immigrants,

b) would continue to push divisive and racist identity politics that celebrates victimhood

c) would push an ultra-progressive trans agenda that erases the female sex and pushes impressionable teens into life changing hormone therapy and mutilation.

d) would be weak on the world stage, and continue to throw billions of taxpayer money in fruitless attempts to make changes things (I have always supported Ukraine, but the current policy of providing just enough to enable a stalemate to continue isn’t good for anyone, and ultimately we have to accept the reality on the ground).

And stopping that was more important than having a “nice” person as their president.

From Associated Press, re Nevada: Mailed ballots are accepted and counted until Saturday, and thousands of voters whose ballots were set aside to allow for signature verification, or “curing,” have until 5 p.m. Nov. 12 to validate their vote with election officials.

According to AP, what races are still left to call: Alaska, Arizona, three districts in Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Also AP: Harris still has a path to the White House through the Northern battleground states, but the map is getting less forgiving.
Harris’ campaign has long said her surest way to 270 electoral votes was through Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, states Trump won in 2016 and Biden captured narrowly in 2020.
Harris cannot lose Pennsylvania and reach 270 electoral votes. However, she can lose pieces of the blue wall — so named for its longtime reputation as a Democratic firewall — and still reach 270.
If she loses Michigan, she can make it up by winning Arizona and Nevada. She can lose Wisconsin and make up for it with Arizona.
But the map has surely shrunk for Harris, who cannot lose more than one in the three-state northern arc.

It ain't over til it's over.

@Bewareofthisonetoo "Ukraine has managed to drag the world to the point of war for the sake of a small and insignificant amount of land and overinflated ego of Zelenskyy. "

Russia invaded Ukraine.

Yes Russia invaded Ukraine, but was that the start of history? Did Putin wake up on the morning of the 22nd of Feb 2022 and decide to invade Ukraine?
Or were there other events a timeline of weeks, months, years or decades leading up to Russia's demands and then invasion?

I am not saying Russia was right to invade or that the did not start the shooting, but the situation has developed over time and since we are talking about US presidents, I would say there is plenty of blame for all of them going back to Bush Snr.

Trump supporters tend to be uneducated rednecks who hate brown skin. Fact.

This is why he will win.

It isn't because your statement is true. It's because people are sick to the back teeth of being insulted, labelled 'far right' for expressing a difference of opinion.

Look at the state of the world. Seriously.

Sorry but wasn't there less fighting in the world when Trump was last president?

These sorts of men only listen to other men.

Oh. Well as a woman I’ll just shut up and get back to the sink. Sorry.
