Looks like Trump could win?

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

@Llhaaf if you are a British teacher, I thank God you are nowhere near my child.

I wonder how long it will take for the idiots who voted for him to realise what they've done.

Well, a lot of my Labour voting friends started feeling their regret around September.
So if in January they are still celebrating, I think they’re good!

Absolute bollocks. Harris would reinstate ’Roe’ so abortions up to 24 weeks, at the extreme.

Oh. 24 weeks and up till the day of birth are very different. Which is correct?

I’m a teacher who doesn’t like the direction that the left has been taking us in.

Exactly, I for one am hoping this Republican wave with Trump at the helm will pull things to the centre.. The pendulum has swung too far to the left.

Right wing ideology? Do you mean people who are educated & have enough common sense to know that a biological male can never be a female & should not be trying to infiltrate women's sports.

Are these "right wing" people very concerned adults who will not stand by & let innocent children be pumped up with hormones & undertake castration & breast mutilation in the name of gender ideology?

That’s one single issue that is wheeled out as a blunt tool to polarise. You can be left wing and have critical views on that debate too.

Who, Starmer?

They already have.

AliasGrace47 · 06/11/2024 06:49

Lyanaa, that's true.. Will he be able to control them, or even care?
I must say his alliance w the Christian Right sits uneasily w his pornstar- dating Las Vegas past. It's a marriage of convenience fir both, I guess.
& some horrible things he said were carried out. The so-called Muslim ban, for instance.

Well isn’t she better than Trump? Ridiculous comment.

Well obviously I think so, although she wouldn’t be my choice for President.

Trump, if you recall, refused to concede and started a riot. So a Trumpian criticising Harris for not conceding is, actually, a ridiculous comment.

I agree. I think it will absolutely be WWIII now.

He won’t care about the UK. Especially with a Labour PM. We have fucked off the EU with Brexit. I think a Trump win is an utter disaster for us.

I think I’m going to have to go ‘no news’ for four years.

With regards the EU I don't think pissing them of with Brexit needs to make that much difference to working together on defense etc. We still largely have shared interests there. Immigration is tougher because countries interests aren't aligned there. But even there Starmer is pushing for international cooperation on breaking people smuggling gangs.
I do think it's a pity about Brexit. But it's still possible to have a working relationship with the EU and I think if anything the news is a sign the the UK needs to pivot (not flounce) away. from blindly supporting America or expecting them to reciprocate.

Are you completely stupid? Putin invaded Ukraine. He wasn’t cornered. Ukraine isn’t a “small and insignificant amount of land…” it’s home to many people. I’m damn sure if the UK was invaded you’d want other countries to help us, for now we’ve got NATO but who knows tor how much longer if Trump is back in charge.

I think the answer to your first question is a big fat Yes. I actually despair at the attitude to Ukraine. These people don’t know their history.

It was different because mail votes were counted late in 2020 but following changes to the rules they've already been counted now.

Even Kamala has given up with the way she left without speaking to her supporters.

Edited

PA still has to count its mail votes.

Oh they won't learn. And don't you date take their celebrities away.

The Democratic Party should have realised that Biden wasn’t a viable reelection choice and they should have taken their time to look for a better candidate. Kamala was a rush decision and one would hope they learn from this.

We’re witnessing the death throes of American world power now. The problem for the rest of us is the inevitable power vacuum and who will fill it.

I'm a very environmental person and I believe that sexism and racism are still terrible blights on people's lives, but I wish as much attention was given to the looming new world order (China, Russia, Iran and their multi-polar world) as is given to climate change and identity politics. How do people think their children and grandchildren are going to like living in a world where countries with concentration camps are the dominant power?

I'm so very afraid he is going to win. I'm in Indiana and knew he would win this state easily.

It's so fucking frustrating that people do not vote in their best interests. This man would not piss on you if you were on fire.

I'm very frightened for my daughters. I'm long past worrying about an unwanted pregnancy but my girls are 17 and 25.
Fortunately they reside in Massachusetts which is a solid liberal state. My heart is with all young women who may be affected by his dismantling of reproductive rights

I'm hoping Kamala pulls a Hail Mary in the early morning hours

This man would not piss on you if you were on fire.

This. I will never understand how people who vote for him, even if they clearly don’t give a shit about anyone else, think for one second he genuinely wants anything good for anybody but himself. He disgusts me. And, to be honest, so do all that voted for him.

Llhaaf · 06/11/2024 06:53

Meadowfinch · 06/11/2024 06:47

@Llhaaf if you are a British teacher, I thank God you are nowhere near my child.

Lol. Most parents wouldn’t know my political leanings, as there is only one thing I focus on in school, and that’s their child’s education.
That’s also why my exam success rate is always over 80%…and in a challenging area.

I don’t go to school to indoctrinate children. I go to educate children in my subject. And to show kindness to children who need a little of that in their lives.

If you care about anything else, you’re wasting your time.

And with that, I have to be in school within the hour, so some of us need to get showered and ready.

Congratulations America. I hope the next four years brings economic prosperity, happiness and certainty.

I wonder how much lower the human race can go. I think we are about to find out.

Israel has a right to eliminate the terrorist threats that murdered over 1400 of their citizens and took 150 odd hostages, and has killed most of them.
The terrorists are STILL firing rockets into Israel and killing their citizens.

In fact a Trump presidency might bring it to an end. Biden supported Israel.

I think sterilising and mutilating kids and the President of the USA promoting it and the men who want more of it is pretty low to be fair.

I hate Trump personally for his probable sexual assaults & proved misogyny. But imo he's the sort of person who says outrageously unpleasant things but doesn't follow them through, mostly.

The crucial difference this time, though is that he is now surrounded by far more dangerous people who absolutely will follow them through.

Yes Trump himself will most likely be off playing golf but it’s who else is around him we need to be concerned about.

Drfosters · 06/11/2024 06:54

the fact is this has been a funny election. Harris would never have been the first choice of candidate for election but got it though a weird set of circumstances. Given her background I find her strangely inarticulate and I feel that the democrats lurched too far to the left and were facing a massive a backlash, particularly with their erosion of Title IX. I see people go ‘how can people vote Trump?’ But if you don’t want Harris, who else were you going to vote for?. If Biden had done an amazing job she would have been essentially the incumbent and voted in. Now that this could be his second term it will be a bit of a reset for both parties to sort themselves out and actually produce 2 candidates who give a valid choice to the people. If only they would truly listen to what people actually want!

BlastedPimples · 06/11/2024 06:54

@Pumpkinspawn "Right wing ideology? Do you mean people who are educated & have enough common sense to know that a biological male can never be a female & should not be trying to infiltrate women's sports."

I am left of centre and know that a male can never be a woman.

So stop trying to claim this is a right wing vs left wing issue.

It is however so typical of Trump and Reform voters to oversimplify issues, claiming right or left wing, woke, snowflake. It's such bollocks.

The world is a safer place for all of us if Putin is not cornered. If he feels more secure he is less likely to nuke. Ukraine has managed to drag the world to the point of war for the sake of a small and insignificant amount of land and overinflated ego of Zelenskyy. In a few years Putin will be dead anyway and very unlikely to be replaced by someone of his ilk.

Zelensky has an inflated ego because he wants to defend his country from an illegal invasion?
Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe, more than twice the size of the UK. It’s hardly a tiny piece of land… but even if it were, why should a bully like Russia bulldoze it into submission. Unbelievable comment.
